Dude.. I bought a plus a few weeks ago, I can't tell you how much your videos have helped me out man I went from hating it to it being my favorite device because of you, so thanks bro I appreciate you
I have the Rg35xx Plus. I really have been enjoying it for the retro consoles. And was happy I could play PS1 games. But now that the H is out, I feel like it's better for PS1 games for the Joysticks and length for fighting games. Thank you for the video. Can't wait for a fully finished Custom firmware for both these devices.
Well, I own rg351p and I also used to think that having analog sticks will be so useful to play ps1 or n64 games, but it really doesnt make sense because old ps1 games are not designated for full use of analog sticks, d-pad has the same functionality as analog stick. I would say it's not worth the change tbh.
The RG35XX PLUS having up to PS1 for fully compatible games are notable given N64 and Dreamcast are its emulation performance falloff point, yet they are of the same generation of consoles. With the same hardware specs, the H model only reduced the potential of the sticks to PS1, stick arcades, and Atari emulation. There's also that odd feeling that Nintendo and Sony once collaborated for a console design until Nintendo dropped Sony in favor of what later became the CD-i that also resulted in Sony being convinced to use the design to enter the console competition as a major player from that business slighting. Yet here we are, playing PS1 games in a Game Boy Color form factor.
@@hitnrun9000 I still use the Steam Deck to cover the performance shortfall of the budget handhelds and play consoles where they made stick controls the standard.
I bought the horizontal model as a first tine 3.5 inch retro handheld owner. To be honest, if you play anything below ps1, d-pad is totally fine. You can use dpad in n64, ps1, even some psp games. To be honest, analog sticks on these models are not that comfortable, you probably will not be playing more than half an hour in each session:) If you dont care about the durability and playing fps, psp games on these handhelds, then plus model will be more durable and you will not need to have to carry on case with you, just put in your pocket and you are good to go
@@citruesilver Maybe they'll get lucky but when I ordered from Anbernic's official website, I had my device in my hands within a week. When I ordered off Retroid's website, it took like 2 months to get my item. I used the cheapest shipping on both.
R36S will be my first retro handheld. Your videos helped me make my mind up. Would be great if you made a video on all the mods you made to the R36S. Those trigger buttons look loud without your foam mod. I just found out about the RG35XX H. Would've got that just for the HDMI and the extra controllers option.
Could you possibly make a tutorial showing us how to set up a dual card set up on the h? I just got it and was wondering how, I’ve just been playing on the single card it came with though I heard it’s not recommended and to use a new one to prevent it from possibly eventually bricking itself; Though I don’t know how to go about it correctly since I haven’t been able to find anything in depth on how to do it. Any help?
Thanks for that comparison! After had both, my personal thoughts on how to choose are: 1 - Ergonomics: if you have big hands you may struggle to hold the H for more than half an hour. The Plus (with a silicone case) was an amazing experience compared to, specially if you play before sleep or in your bed. 2 - Do you really need analogics?: After try the H, I discovered that I don't need the analogic because most games I prefer to play on a D-pad (I play PS1 and GBA the most), also mostly games on psp/dc you use the dpad to play, and in the worst scenario you can toggle the analogic to d-pad with a single click. In the end its also 2 parts to not be worried about drift (one unit I had came drifted from the box). 3 - Shoulder Buttons: I loved Miyoo Mini Plus because of the great SB, and when I tried the H I missed than so much! The clickness is not my cup of tea and it was uncomfortable to use. In the end I chose the RG35XX PLUS, because of the bigger abxy buttons, better d-pad and shoulder buttons, and I feel better playing it. Don't choose the black H, its to keeps marks around the buttons with 2 months of use (unles you use the silicone case).
@@atauygargunday Rather then worrying, ask yourself if you want to play games that either require or function better with the analog sticks(PS1, N64, some old name/arcade games). If you do then don't even think about it, they will both provide you a good experience. If you don't care about the sticks just go with whatever makes your soul happier. For me that would be the plus because that nostalgic feeling has me grabbing the console**** more than if it looked like a tiny switch. ****For me it's the Miyoo mini plus, which has a similar design.
@@RitzyBusiness I'm in love with the old game boy look, but I'm worried it won't be ergonomic for my big hands when spending long periods of time. Analog sticks can be really cool, but it seems like they won't be enough for PSP and some Nintendo games, no matter how powerful the system is compared to MMP or older generation RG35XX. These problems have kept me very busy and I think I will postpone stepping into this hobby until I can buy the ideal and most powerful device for me. I decided on this yesterday a few hours after ordering the horizontal model and I sadly had to cancel my order. We live in hard times to waste:(
@@atauygargunday Honestly speaking the gameboy style is not ergonomic at all and never truly will be, but its also not terrible. If it warms your soul I would suggest it. You probably wont be too bothered by it. That said waiting for the best device might take years, and the point of these devices is to get some gaming done! I think the ergonomics are always gonna suck for gameboy style, OG gameboy did not feel very good in the hands either. I wouldn't look at these tiny 4:3 screens for PSP emulation, even if the system can handle it. If you have an OG Nitendo switch you can softmod it, later and OLED you can hard mod and those are power houses for emulation.
Just purchased the 35xx plus and followed your video on flashing new SD cards but looking to add more games to my library. Is there a place where I can bulk download a bunch of games?
I have both also , i have to say the Plus is so comfortable to play on where has the H has the feature's , has anyone else still stuck with the stock OS as the custom FW just isn't there yet performance wise yet?
This may sound silly but how is streaming via moonlight on these? I know that's not why anyone would buy these though. When I say streaming I am talking bout, Binding of isaac, Castlevania collections, maybe some crash trilogy stuff. If stream is okish, maybe I should get the H for the analog sticks. Hmmm 🤔
I just got both, I love the design of the plus much more than the H, but the H has a tiny bit of an edge with those extra joysticks and audio, still like the plus a bit more haven't really had problems with any games probably only few Dreamcast games like outtriger that really need joystick or are unplayable.
I have a soft spot for the Plus too. I think its so perfect but I will be honest and say the H is better suited for most people just because of the joystick and horizontal form factor
I've been hearing that RG35XX Plus has RTC issues and it runs faster than it should. Sounds like a hardware issue. Malfunctioning RTC is equal to no RTC, and that's a big minus for Pokemon. Does your units have correctly functioning RTC?
If wanted the H’s platform, I’d just get a switch. The rg35 is perfect for the retro games they emulate. A toggle stick really isn’t needed in a majority of games, even LEGO Star Wars on PSP plays like a dream
I play Fortnite and Minecraft on mine through Moonlight on the H platform and those 2 analog sticks are very useful, even for older games like Quake, Quake 2, and Duke Nukem 3D. It's actually a must. But you do you though. 😊
I bought both. The plus for work and as a general beater console, also to play fire emblem and strategy/Pokémon games. and the h for at home to play with my wife, n64, psx, fighting games, etc. since they use the same chips, the sd cards are swappable. I may get a more powerful console down the line when something like the 405m is cheaper.
The D-pads - I was wondering what kind of games really show the difference between the d-pads of these two devices? Just how "bad" is the d-pad on the H?
The membrane is the same. It's the shape, height, and feel of the dpads. The Plus's dpad is just better. It's round and lower in height, but membranes are the same. Better for rolling moves like haduken.
I have the plus and the old rg35xx but I find it too small for my hands to play for longer times. I’m really thinking about adding a wifi controller and hdmi
Another great video Javi. I have both the plus and H. The one thing I'm having trouble with is making Dreamcast multi disk games to "single" file like Shenmue. it either appears as multiple games or wont work. I havent found a video showing how to do this for Dreamcast, maybe you could do one? Thanks for your videos

I don't have any interest in getting the H. I got the DMG Plus mostly just for the novelty of having a mini Game Boy that can play much more than Game Boy. After getting the RGB30 I feel like that screen should be the new standard for smaller devices.
If you have big hands, the joysticks are so tight and small that it's not comfortable to play with. Better link it to a TV with HDMI and play with a BT controller that has bigger joysticks.
