Mathias was my favorite woodworking youtuber but he doesn't do a lot of projects related to the lathe. So now you're taking over that spot as favorite woodworking youtuber.
Finally got round to making this! Thank you Marius ❤
Thanks, it's a useful item, and your plans and instructions are very clear.
Skateboard/rollerblades are a good source for bearings, usinally with an 8mm bore, and (I think) 22mm external diameter. I would drill 22mm holes in the plywood bracket and then epoxy the bearings in place with glue only on the external edge of the bearing. BTW, I don't like to hold small workpieces with my fingers when drilling - sometimes it can be painful.
Excellent job describing everything young man. Keep up the great work.
This is the best wood turning tool I've ever made - thank you Marius. My only problem is that friends at my local wood turning guild use it more than I do but that's a good problem.
Well done, looks efficient and excellent finish,Thank you
Dude, you really have some pretty cool ideas. And your work always came up really neat to!
TheLaoruga Thank you!
Super video Marius. Very well explained and a joy to watch. Regards Barry.
tympt1 Thank you Barry
thanks for your plans, marius
Another great video. Really like the video inception. I was going to buy one of these but i think i might just make my own.
Those bearings are not designed for axial loading (like thrust bearings), which you will impart during use. How long do they last in use?
Love it! great idea, design and video! ( a video in a video, I felt like I was in "Inception" for a minute there lol)
Same! "but thats him... now... but before... and after..." 😢
I'm honestly wondering how he did that, after all, he'd need to have uploaded the video to be able to get the link, but at that time how do you insert that in the video that was already uploaded? x.x
Fricking timetravellers :P
He uploaded the first part of the video as a private or unlisted video and then recorded that part
great stuff
Great video! Keep up the good work! Victor
Great and useful video! Thank you for that!
nice one, thanks for sharing.
Cheers

If we kept watching your cell after you scanned the QR code we coulda watched you watching you whilst watching you watch you . . . phoneception!!
That's awesome! I am definitely making one of these :)
Have you ever tried making a polishing head for that and trying it on a bowl with the finish ?
Wow!
Great video!
Good explanation i made one very similar pity can’t share the pictures here
you are the best
Very cleaver design....
Just came across this....too bad the link no longer works.
Danke, Marius, das spart mir 70 Euronen
How long is the hex bolt on the arbor?
I can not find the printout pages??
how long is the bolt 2.5"?
Inception inspired video
I didn't understand what you said about the printer setting that need to be changed. Can you explain please
I made the plan for A4 paper size. You maybe need to adjust your printer to work with that.
Got it. Thanks Marius.
Do still have that link open for the plans to make this sander?
+Richard Urbantas yes, it's in the video description
😍🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You may want to find a pipe size that is close to the circle required and sharpen the edge to use it as a punch to cut out your circle paper, Not sure what circle size you need, but you can use flat stock to bend into a circle if you require a custom size. A punch will save tons of time when cutting circles out of paper... I hope this helps....
Paul Bialozor Good idea, thanks.
Really nice design! Thanks for all your efforts to share your ideas. You're very talented and you have a great RUclips channel. Happy New Year!
+Don Fillenworth Thanks.
Very nicely done video within a video @ 0:53
However, upon closer inspection I spot a different RUclips video ID which is only 23 seconds long. I'm calling shenanigans! Still, it's nicely done shenanigans :) You should have left the video there for people to find as an easter egg, and maybe put some random content in there?? But hey, hindsight is wonderful (and very easy!!)
Nice project.
Interesting recursion of the video referring to itself in a couple of places.
Barry's Workshop Douglas Hofstadter would be most pleased.
@2:46 you modify your clamps by drilling a hole down the lenght of the clamp's handle and epoxy an allen screws in there. very useful when your clamps are close to each other and you can't grip it with your hand
Looks great! Just found your channel, we're new youtubers. Look forward to seeing more from you :-)
Merci
Very cool videos!
looks like there is no task where you didn't built yourself a tool for :D
You put so much effort in video editing..doesnt i take ages?
Keep up the good work!!!
Grüße aus Kölle :)
Thanks alot man , i ve seen this video several months ago and i thought ,ok it ll work but not much maybe a 30 percent faster and i was afraid to waste the time doing it, finally this morning i gave it a go , i put 2 arbors in one handle to do 2 grit changes per stop and its like 3 times faster.
thanks
It's amazing, isn't it
+Marius Hornberger
yes unexpectedly good.
i wish i could put a photo here , and the sound is great when the rpms are high
you can find my email in my channel description, if you want to send a picture.
Oh wicked! Well done!
Like all your videos and shop crafted tools. Awesome, very well done.
excellent, i literally had my first shot on a lathe today turning a handle for a bell and loved it (hey what can i say im a natural😁) and after finding your video im downloading this plan and you have a new subscriber, keep up the good work
You are a very clever young man Marius.
A big future for you is assured.
John from Australia.
Big like!👍👍👍👍👍✅💪Felicitări! Great video 👍👍👍😎
I have been wanting to make one for a year , but held back because of the complexity and expense of most designs . This is so easy and cheap I think I will make up one for every grit paper I use , plus one for the polishing paste . But one quick question , not much is available here for hook and loop paper , for the 400 through 4000 grit wet or dry , do you think I could use double sided tape ?
Hallo Marius,
Weiter so!
Susi Sorglos Vielen Dank! Schön wenn man das bemerkt.
Very cool sander! I really enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work. =)
Thank you very much. I can't wait to make this sander,.and love not having to buy it
Awesome design! I don't have a working lathe, so I'm not sure what I would use this for but I can see that this design would work well!
Thank you very much i have been looking for this tutorial.
great video! been needing one of these in my shop. I have a a lot of bowls that are ready for a second turning now. I've heard that the foam from cheap flip flops (sandals) will work really well for these
These videos of yours are BEAUTIFUL! Very entertaining and the things you make are great!!! Keep them coming.
sambking Thank you!
Great idea, Marius! Be sure to make for themselves - the same :)
Mark Fisher. Ukraine.
Just finished mine today. Thanks for the inspiration and design.
A nice design and very well executed. Thank you!
very cool, downloaded plans, don't need them yet but when i start bowl turning i will have them. thanks.
Another great video, Marius!!!
Cheers.
Mauro
Could you give the link for the plans Thanks
Marius, this is an excellent idea! What a great finish it produces.
Wonderful video as well, you really have very good production skills!
Well done!
Tony Watson Thank you Tony!
Are the plans in a new location? It tells me they are not available. Thanks
👍I know old video but hey I am trying to support you lots of info great directions. Take care
I've just started turning bowls and my biggest problem is getting rid of the ridges caused by the turning tool. I'm sure I can get rid of them by making this tool. Thank you so much for making this video.
Very cool, if you can find some steele pipe the same radius as the sanding disk's you require, you can sharpen it to make a punch for cutting sanding disk's out quicker.
I'm so impressed with this tool and your video. I'm surprised I haven't seen any of your work before but I will be looking for more of your projects. You didn't leave out any details and clearly show every step and part. Thanks so much for sharing this.
0:22 before it was Public it had 3 Views (did you get that shot wrong 2 Times) or how?
+Tim Marvin I don't remember.
Another excellent video. Very well done.
Genius.!! Are you related to Mathias Wendel by any chance. You're process is very similar..😉
That good video.... friend I could say which is the velcro you use... because there are different model....
Another brilliant build. Very cool.
Old video, I know. But man... you are awesome! Thanks for sharing this kind of useful videos!!!!!
You are very good and your explainatons are excellent.... Thank you very much!!!!!!!
I made this sander a few weeks ago but didn't get to use it until today. It is terrific!!! Thanks for the idea and the plans.
made one & though it was great
Thanks for the video. I love my little sander. There is a sanding pad to convert a stick on orbital sanding base to a hook and loop I picked up at the box store that had the high quality Velcro and the special glue that dries overnight. I am going to make a punch for the sand paper out of something but I am not sure what is best yet.
just ran across this I know its a bit late and all but if you are still able can you email the plans to me? cant download them XD.
Marius this is brilliant! I had to watch the video because I truly cannot be spending the amount of money that these cost in the stores. Thank you so very much for sharing this information with us!
Tolles Design!
GermanLatheDude
Thanks for the plans Marius I will be making this for my workshop. Great job
Beautiful job. Thank you. I have been looking for a bowl sander. Also the video in the video is a neat trick. You will have to do a video on how you did that.
I was really hoping to find an easter egg video :-).
But alas:
"This video has been removed by the user"
Those thumbs down were from people looking for an orbital sander.
Great Video. I am going to make a couple of these. Can you tell us what length bolts that you used please?
This is by far the best homemade sander I have seen and your design and plans are great. Thank you for sharing them. I saw this on Pinterest. I also liked your other videos too. Keep sharing them.
Greeeaaatt and good stuff !
And more : super cheap !
Thanks for sharing this idea, and free plan that comes with it !
