Um not quite. hes actually applying a product that is probably called Xlr8 by planet waves, or an equivalent. Its supposed to make the strings easier to play. I guess its like an oily type thing and applying it to the back of the neck will make it smooth. some guys use it some don't. : 3 so dont put polish on your strings >;3
