My Cat Brat's Cremation

  • This video was taken 15 hours after my cat's death. I took this video because there will always be a part of me fearful of forgetting precious moments in life. The crematory I chose had a few options. Luckily, my wife was there to help me decide. I opted to spend extra money for an individual cremation (ashes returned) and to be present during the process. Even though ashes are simply... ashes, I was particular about the worker doing his absolute best to give me all of his ashes, and only his ashes, back. If you are the same, I suggest paying extra to oversee the process because there are areas in the process where ashes are mixed or lost. I do not disapprove of the company's work. They do good work and was very hospitable. This was an emotional time and I simply had near impossible expectations. I refused him to use his funnel that was caked in ashes and instead, pour the ashes directly into the bag.
If you are anticipating your loved one's departure, it would make things a tad easier if you plan ahead. Purchase the urn early and find your crematory with office hours, location and packages in mind.

If that were one of my cats, I don’t think I’d be able to handle seeing their bones. Only to know that they used to be my little furry kittens and now all bones breaks me. Losing a pet is so hard man..I hope I never lose both my cats any time soon

my cat Spiderman was put down on June 1st, 2016. He was very sick.. and he was so old and frail.. We got him cremated. I still have the blanket he laid on before he got put down, and his blanket/ cloth he slept on. I also have his favorite brush.. To this day, I still cry for the poor baby. His meows I can still hear. My grandmother and I are both getting necklaces , (which are coming in tomorrow) along with us getting his ashes and putting them in the necklace.. When my grandmother dies, He'll be with her .. and I'll always have him with me as years fly by..
    I miss you baby..

I'm sorry. My cat's birthday is coming up. He was put down the day after his birthday. His body just completely shut down on him. His name is Frank. He was older than me. He was put down at 21 years old. I miss him so much. He lost his eyesight when he was about 19 but he could still find his way around if there was food involved.

There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given. -Suzanne Clothier

We lost our beloved cat, Moomin, on Sunday and she will be individually cremated and returned to us soon. We’re devastated at the loss of her. Yes... I tried to close his eyes after he passed. I thought I would disturb me. Right after his last breath... strangely, I really didn't mind. In my arms, I took him places that use to make him nervous. I drove him in my car; I walked outside around the block... I took him everywhere I wish I could have when he was alive. With his eyes, I lied to myself and pretended he was still with me. "it's okay, remember me, I love you..."

My cat of 15 years, had to be put to sleep on Thursday Night, was one of the saddest things I've experienced, felt his heart just completely stop, he had previously in the day had a stroke and we believe he had one within the week however we didn't pick up on it completely as we was told it's due to his age.
I still look into the Corner of my Bedroom where I had made a makeshift bed for him, still look at pictures of him, still can smell him on one of blankets he laid on occasionaly and i still feel shocked, guilt and so much more...
Your video has helped me in a way come to terms of what I will be needing to do on Monday, however I don't know if i can face to see him one last time, it sounds silly but he was my best friend :'(

My 12 year old cat had a tumor in her mouth that nothing could be done about. I too chose to have her cremated and her ashes returned. I just got them back today, I have never did this before and I was so worried I'd get other animals ashes. I got the phone number to the funeral home that also does pet cremations. The director/owner called me and talked with me and I felt so much better. She was my family and it bothered me that I did not know what was happening with her. I totally get how you felt. Your kitty was beautiful and your urn is lovely. Thanks for this video. I could not watch it happening to my car but it comforts me to the process she went through.

"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. I attended my dogs cremation, I wanted to be with her up until the very end, & know for sure she was individually cremated, & that I absolutely had her ashes. I paid extra to go behind the scenes & wittness the process, my family thought I was macarb, but I wanted to be there with her, & not have uncertainty & allow OCD thoughts to plague me for ever. It resulted in me feeling much better about the whole process. I was glad I was there for her until the absolute end. Her ashes are nearby to me now as I type this. Eventually we will be mixed together.

Thank you for posting. I've always been interested as to how cremations work. In addition, I'm so sorry for your loss. Exactly a year ago today, my mom and I had to put down our sweet cat Ringo. We had her cremated and we decided to keep her ashes. May they both rest in heaven. ❤️

My cat was my best friend. She was 4 years old and was healthy and happy as can be. Until one day we realized there was some blood in her pee and she was struggling to go. We were sure it was a UTI so we took her to the vet and after an ultrasound we were told there was huge inflammation in her bladder that pointed to cancer. Within a few days she was unable to rest for more than a minute at a time without running to the litter box just to pee nothing. she had to be put on pain relievers and sedatives just to relax. We made the heartbreaking decision to put her down. She was so young and energetic and had the most beautiful eyes i've ever seen. Our family is broken. Thank you for sharing this video - it gives me peace knowing what will happen to her and makes it all less scary. I am planning on burying some of her ashes and then planting a beautiful flower there.

Thank you for posting. I just had my baby cremated last month. :'( One of the hardest things to go through. I'm sorry for your loss and I sympathize with anyone who's grieving the loss of a loved one, but it's comforting to not be alone in that grief. There is at least solace in understanding.

Thank you so much for this video. I just had to put my cat down a few hours ago after she had really sudden unexpected kidney failure. This gives me closure. The whole way home I was sobbing thinking about how they were probably cremating my cat and how her dead body is probably burning. Somehow calming seeing what happens
Planning on spreading her in a flower field. It hurts that my parents aren’t letting me keep the ashes, but I get it. I can’t move on if every day I have to look at my cat on my shelf

Thank you for this insight as I just lost my cat this morning due to old age and all sorts. 17.5 years. More than half of my life!
I was planning on taking her to the vet this morning when my mom woke me up and said she has passed while my mom was doing her daily prayers. I had a feeling that this was coming soon but not that soon. I'm glad I spent the last night with her watching Disney Nature African Cats documentary. During the last minutes of the movie, she was trying to get up just like the cheetahs and lionesses but her left side of her body was too weak. ;-(
The crematory did not let me see the process due to this stupid coronavirus to reduce close contact and gatherings. I just really hope I get her and only her ashes back Monday. Sigh.

Beautifully and tastefully done video... thank you for sharing your intimate moments with Brat. It is not permitted to watch this procedure in California, but they do offer group or individual cremations. With the group cremations, each pet is in a separate receptacle, and you do get your own pet's ashes back. I've had pets cremated both ways. RIP sweet little Brat kitty, you are now at peace.... and will remain forever in the hearts of those who love you

Had my cat put down a week ago
    Picked ashes up today
Wish I could rewind back time
Don't know what you had till its gone
Only one consolation she was 18 Yrs old and 3 months
The reason was cancer on ears
    For second time
    Renal failure
Least all that grief gone from her now
My house is so quiet and so much cat food over
Won't forget her in a hurry naughty tortie

I almost made it to the end before I was balling. I couldn't take it.
Our mini-panther, Khan, was only 7 years old. He had a heart murmur, an was always taken well care of.
Out of the blue, he was playing an having fun with a new rescue kitten we adopted , an in the span of minutes, he started howling. His rear quarters were cold. Rushed him to the ER vet at just past midnight, an he was gone less that 20 minutes later. Saddle Thrombosis. A blood clot that instantly cut circulation to his hind quarters.
We HAD to say goodbye to the bestest kitter ever in the middle of the night. I can't watch any more of this video.

It was the eyes that was the same eyes of the death of my cat to write this up. 23 1/2 years my cat lived. He was a healthy cat for his age and I took great care of him to make it so. He died on 11/09/2018 suddenly He was my only family. The only one that loved me when my body was broken and I lay dying. I was not supposed to out live him. I had it set up that my lawyer would provide the care at my home that he lived in as well as up to 1/2 of a million to make sure that he continued to live a healthy life. Money does not mean a damn thing when you have nothing to show love and affection too. 40% of my life was with Amadeus, Someone who loved me regardless of what I looked like or whatever the situation is. I have not recovered from my loss and as of the moment of this writing and the tears falling from the face of one hardcore biker... I doubt I ever will. Thank you for sharing this video. It reminded me how much I missed him so...

Thank you for sharing this. I cried watching it. My cat Rubin died a year ago on the 29th July aged 18 months when he got run over in our local car park. And on his anniversary of his death my neighbors cat died in same car park. A few days later my best friends cat Rocky aged 4 years old died when his heart stopped. I knew rocky since he was 8 weeks old. He died on my mothers anniversary of her death. A few days after this my other neighbors cat got killed outside her house and her cat was only a year old. I am due to pick rocky ashes up in his casket either tomorrow or first thing Monday morning. Its been a really sad week with so many fur babies passing. My heart goes out to you for the lost of your beautiful fur baby. May he rest easy in heaven at Rainbow Bridge. Thank you again for sharing this video xx
