I recently acquired a vintage Cosmonaute Navitimer that hails from the same year as my birth, that being 1965, which was only 2 years after Scott Carpenter completed his mission. I love the history, the science behind it and the piece itself. It's great to see this release as it will no doubt generate more interest in the model and quite possibly raise the value of my watch- not that I am ever selling it. It is an outstanding piece that is the same age as I am and THAT is for me a priceless connection with this important piece of horological history. Thank you so much for sharing this video!
I love 24 h watches. Having a Russian sturmanskie, a Swedish akerfalk, and a Swiss glycine airman, this launch was significant and I really hope it will have a regular version because the pricetag was beyond reasonable for me. Thanks for the presentation.

Thank you for the video. I have been collecting for a couple years now, and the Breitling Navitimer just hit my radar. I like the Space history of the watch, but I like the utility of the dial the most. Most people don't know what all the numbers on the dial are used for, and this should be explained better by the company. Breitling is on the right track, and needs to advertise more and tell their story to new collectors like me. Great video!
I could never get used to the 24 hour dial. That said, the Navitimer deserves its spot next to the Speedie and Daytona as one of the most iconic chronographs.

Great Video as always!! I am a huge fan of chronographs and the Navitimer has always been my favourite watch. So I bought the previous model this year since I didn’t really liked the new models. Anyway the cosmonauts maybe would have changed my mind back then 😅 Nevertheless I appreciate that Breitling is finally telling this great story now and that the Navitimer gets the attention it deserves
I love 24 hour watches! I hope that this will be a non limited watch someday! I also loved this video and look forward to seeing your new videos Adrian.
Great video. The event was superb. Are they stepping on Omega's toe's possibly but the Navitimer Cosmonaut was the first Swiss wristwatch in space and I think they have a right to advertise as such. Breitling don't make enough if there early heritage. It was a pleasure to meet you at the event.
Wow . I have just done the same flight on Saturday morning ! City airport is a great little airport, worth checking their destinations . Went to a function at Dolder Grand , great hotel next time ur in Zurich . Nice vid, thanks
Although what became known as the Seiko "Pogue" was used by 3 astronauts in NASA training, it was only used during the 84 days long Skylab-4 space station mission between November 1973 and February 1974. NASA forgot about Charles Conrad Glycine Airman automatic pilot watch, used during Gemini V and Gemini XI, not only the first automatic wrist watch in space, but also the first automatic watch to be exposed to outer space on Gemini XI. Astronaut Thomas Stafford offered a Movado DataChron automatic chronograph to US Marine Corps astronaut Gerald Carr, who snuck it into space during that same Skylab-4 space station mission. So both Movado & Seiko had the first automatic chronograph in space, both working flawlessly. Between 1971 and 1981, Apollo 15 astronaut James Irwin was often photographed wearing a Seiko chronograph. Photos on MoonwatchUniverse Archive ! 🧐
So many possible “watches in Space.” Sturmanskie, Bulova, Seiko, and Fortis. They are all fun and up till now, they have all been far less than the Omega Speedmaster. Now we see the Brietling story. We shall see what happens next. As a kid who grew up during the Space Race, I couldn’t be happier even if the watches are generally out of reach.
Definitely like the 24-hour thing it’s got going on. Living in Alaska where the sun is anything but a good indicator of time of day means this type of watch has a direct application for us “non-cosmonauts”.
Hi Adrian, thanks for an excellent video. A steel version of this watch would be cool, even more so if it had screw down crown and pushers to keep it safe on future space flights... 😀
Awesome video. Any chance you’re planning to do an in depth look at the new 2022 navitimer or the 2020 Chronomat b01? Breitling is just class these days, return to former glory
Great job Adrian... I like "busy dials" but the Navitimer has the busiest dial in existence and just looks out of place to me. Yet I know there are watch junkies out there that luv uit so god for them.
Hi Adrian and thanks for this video 😊👍🏻 It’s an amazing (and artistic ? 🤔) timepiece with an incredible story ! The new version have a best visibility 😆
It is surprisingly easy to get used to a 24-hour dial. I have one on an old Raketa that also has a second time zone bezel. It might actually be my favorite “GMT” implementation, honestly. Set the watch itself to UTC and use the bezel to show local time. When you need a different local time, rotate the bezel. Unambiguous 24-hour time, no problem. Kind of wish Breitling would at least match the Speedmaster’s 50m WR rating.
