Used to play this right after it came out. I did a lot of improvising back then. My first girlfriend played guitar also. It was our favorite song. We still keep in touch after 48 years. Think I'll re-learn this the proper way and send it to her. Thanks for bringing back pure gold.

I have hands that are messed up from working in a factory for 30 years and I’m 72 and retired. I have a horrible time trying to play any lead guitar. Rhythm is about all I can do. (I’m a member of Guitars for Vets an org that helps disabled veterans learn to play music as therapy for war time disorders. )

great job as I play it the same way. from 79 to 88, I played in a band and that was one song we did perfect. And in 2009, we started jamming again and we always do this song, because its easy to remember. what a great solo!

I'm viewing many of your lessons to bookmark and learn. Again I'm grateful for the way you visualize the notes and chords, making them accessible. I also appreciate your explanation, adding to my understanding of the note relationships. I hope you;re getting as much pleasure at teaching as I'm getting by learning and playing. Thanks again

Great tutorial. Thanks! When you're doing the riff at the very beginning, it sounds and kinda looks like you're adding other notes at times to fill it out a bit (in addition to the backing track). Or is it just single note riffing with the backing track? Without a keyboard or rhythm guitar, the single note riff can sound empty. On the original recording it almost sounds like it's done on a 12 string.

LOL Someone sent video this to me thought that this was Tom Scholz of "Boston" giving guitar lessons. LOL Well the guitar sure looks close to one of Tom's guitars, and the person has the same body features, but no this is not Tom Scholz, Tom should be finishing up on a new album and getting it in the can. Meanwhile, I have to now learn how to play this song by The Outsiders "Time Won't Let Me" on my guitar.........LOL

Thank you for your post... it's nice of you...but...
I disagree with you... It actually goes like this below....
Time Won’t Let Me - The Outsiders (Key = A)
Intro: (A) (F#m) (G) (E) (Play these chords Twice for intro)
    Verse 1:
    (A) I can't (G) wait for-(A)-ever
Even (A) though you (G) want me (A) to
    (A) I can't (G) wait for-(A)-ever
    To (A) know if (G) you'll be (A) true
    Chorus:
    Time won't (A) let me (F#m)
    Time won't (A) let me (F#m)
Time won't (Bm) let me (C#m) (D) (E) wait too long
Intro: (A) (F#m) (G) (E) (repeats into but Plays into just Once)
    Goes to next verse ...
Good luck folks... Kind regards, Kevin :)

To Bruce: thanks for the like. I went back to read my original comment and noticed I had reversed the order of the keys, so I have edited the comment to suggest the key may be D major/B minor. I had also identified position five in B minor when it should have read position 5 in D major. Thanks again.
