  • Newly minted copilot Jeff Tapper is excited for his first revenue DC-3, but his inexperience shows when he botches the approach and bounces the landing three times, nearly running off the runway. Meanwhile, for new rampie Prefkar Mony to realize his dream of becoming a DC-3 pilot, he needs to first pass the written IATRA test. He’s been studying for months, but on his first attempt, he fails. With the help of pilot/mechanic Chris Staples, Prefkar retakes the test and passes, but his victory celebration is short-lived when he’s blamed for leaving an expensive shipment of medicine marked “Do Not Freeze” in a courier van during a minus 30 weekend. Later, Mikey and Katie decide to find Joe a new dog and choose Muffy, a three-year-old dog from the SPCA who is ready to leave her pups. They bring her back to the hangar for a test drive. Joe brings DC-3 CUE out of retirement to test fly the plane for Buffalo’s summer sked duty and he brings along Jeff-and Muffy-to see if they’re Buffalo material.

I'm not a pilot however I got the nautical miles per minute question right. 160 knots is 160 nautical miles per hour. Since there are 60 minutes in an hour divide the 160 by 60 and you get 2.6 nautical miles per minute. I am a simulator pilot so that helps a little

I failed all technicals the first time for my ame lic. The good thing is that TC gives a list of topics you need to work on on the back of the result sheet, which should be helpful.

Why didn’t anyone tell Prefkarr the FIRST time he made this mistake…
It seems he was just ignorant to the fact that things freeze if left inside an un-heated van. It may seem obvious to some, but he’s from India and it’s not necessarily something you just know intuitively. I’d be just as mad at the dude who knew he had done it before and didn’t tell him. I doubt they’d have suspended him if he only did it once.

In the ffing middle of nowhere the tower gives you stattic about not taking of in a time frame which you missed by a hair...come on why not keep it believable!!??
Its more than interesting enough without the litle b.s. story lines...it makes fools out of the viewers

I highly doubt the ATC cared, but it was a training flight. So it’s best to stick to the regulations that you will be following elsewhere once they leave. Don’t want to build bad practice in your head early on.
That said his instructor really should have been the one to point it out before it even happened.

Because it's a violation. They gaffed it off as if it's nothing, but it's a big deal, and embarrassing for a commercial operator. Plenty of airlines in the US operate out of non-towered fields, and if you take off after a clearance void time, then it's a FLIGHT VIOLATION, and that's a big deal. A simple radio call before taking off would have cleared everything up. Because the airspace around the non-controlled field is closed to all traffic until the clearance void time is expired. So by not taking off until the clearance void time is passed is sloppy, and then taking off AFTER it expired is a safety issue, since separation isn't secured. Seriously, do better...

The fact that they don't even brief who is doing the takeoff before taxi is outrageous and unsafe. I understand the "old school" as I was raised in it in aviation, but it's ridiculous and wrong. Joe may be a good stick, but he's a horrible instructor, and based on his radio comms, he's not a very good pilot either.
