I love when they show gear like this and actually do A/B demos like in this video. I know youtube isn't perfect audio quality, but it is so much better than the vids that just talk about some features - especially on something like an EQ or compressor.
This is a great video for showing bands exactly what this amazing outboard chain can do to make a mundane drum stereo submix sound HUGE. Exactly what I needed today. Got both the massive Passive and the Variable Mu from Sweetwater and, put together, this chain is ABSOLUTELY KILLER -- for tracking or for mixing stems, for folding stems together and for mastering a final stereo mix! Use it as much as possible for all of the above. Sweetwater service has been marvelous as well -- with that shout out going to Bob Mondock.
Manley gear is awesome. I hate that the price isn't. I gotta save up each year for 1 gear and then justify that purchase to the wife. (Proud Home Studio Owner)
I would just find a way to write it off on taxes lol Just got some Manley Plugins for my UA and it changed how I create. I cut less in the Mix and boost harmonics I want then I use the Manley EQ to clear up the signal and you get some cool added harmonics
loving the massive passive and the Vari-Mu and I like what he did with the 16K air and the mid-range, but to be honest: Am I the only one who disliked the low-end he added? on the A7x it sounded like a constant BOOM and the compression kind of messed with the transients to me... not trying to say he did it wrong though, just my impression. Got love for sweetwater, I hope this is taken as a opinion, not a judgement
MtMt This entire demo was a lot of shit that didn’t sound good. It assume its only job was to solely demonstrate the effects of this equipment, and in that regard they at least succeeded. Like for example, the Veri-Mu “A/B” comparison. Its funny how he has it slamming the drum stem (with snare verb lol) and then boosts the makeup gain to be wayyyyy louder than the bypassed drum stem. Anything even marginally louder than the previous is going to be interpreted as “better” by peoples ears.
If you look below the Vari Mu, the Manley Slam appears to be on and also compressing the drums. The sound you hear is what I would expect from the Slam
He should quit talking over the top of what he is trying to describe and let people listen. Watching a meter is one thing but hearing and watching the unit respond simultaneously gives you a much better idea of what is happening. Hard to do with him talking over the top of the track.
Mick is a beast engineer. He makes everything look simple because he's so good at it.

Mick Guzauski mixed Daft Punks Random Access Album and sooo many more big ones.
And Nilesh Patel mastered Homework, Discovery, Human After All. There is nothing like Daft Punk since then.
This guy is a living legend!!
Great demo, thanks.

holy cow that sounds nice!
Mick Guzauski is a Genius!
thanks sweetwater. we want to see more hi end gear review.
Mick Guzuaski? Holy cr*p, this guy came out in Monster Inc.
Where is he plugging everything? Anyone know what kind of interface is that?
Is that the drum track from a Caveman song? It sounds like "Life or Just Living"
Why did they stop making the Backbone ??? Manley rocks

both of them sound great however the drums were already recorded very well
Swathed in freakin' reverb already...
impressive
Which song is this drum stem from???????
MIKE WAZOWSKI!!!
Large-scale sound!
Great compressor and EQ - gotta love tubes! If he would have added some verb it would have been killer! ;-)
Chris Williams There was so much verb already, my god that would sound washy.
@@castlehill6717 I'm hoping Chris was being facetious ;)...
the camera loves him
The camera loves your mom more

It is not selected and bypassed on the insert switcher
why should they do it obviously?
Come on, fella. That insert is clearly not selected.
These stems already have processing. Unrealistic. I'm sure Manley is great stuff but this brought out the reverb of the stem.
good demo but there is a to much reverb on the all music
That chain costs the same as Mick's weight
hhhhhhhh
too much reverb

omg, he's ripped
...his pants.
@The King, Reread my comment and realize that it's a statement of fact! Asswipe!
Yeah so what... its the EARS that count in this biz👍
Does your mom know you're using her laptop again?
