It is. That rage helped me power through the first month before I shoved everything down and pretended like everything was all good. It took me so long to realise that it wasn’t just sadness that I kept choking on to the point I couldn’t breathe properly for months - that rage is still there. It’s like having something venomous and heavy living at the back of your tongue and coiling around your heart and lungs. I didn’t start getting catharsis and truly start the healing process until I started unpacking that rage instead of trying to swallow it down. It’s still a process, and it’s awful and suffocating and acrid to dive down into, but the wound lives deep in the heart of the beast and that’s what needs to be healed so that it can sleep.

I think there's power in the way the video portrays the message of the song and the causes of the anger simultaneously. One still and constantly has to go through misogyny, even and especially while speaking up. As a trans man, I experience sexism different than women do, but I relate strongly to this song, and while going to demonstrations for the rights of discriminated groups, it keeps popping in my head. It helps me find courage to be angry.

But it's all coming up to the surface
Maybe it's getting ready to bloom
And I don't wanna be a monster in the making
I don't wanna be more bitter than sweet
I don't know how to be just standing by blankly
Not getting angry
'Cause another and another coming up out of the gutter
Till I'm drowning in an ocean of entitled motherfuckers
And they're pushing all my buttons
But they never seem to wonder why
Another and another, ask each other
Does it get your blood boiling, does it make you see red?
Do you wanna destroy it, does it get in your head?
'Cause it gets my blood boiling and I'm coming unglued
It would hit you like poison if you knew what I knew
You would be angry too
I'm seeing through crimson sunglasses
I'm breathing and counting to ten
I guess I'm fresh out of free passes, they'll pay if it happens again
And I don't wanna drink the venom they made me
I don't wanna be controlled by the past
Boy if you were me, could you really blame me?
Would make you crazy
'Cause another and another coming up out of the gutter
Till I'm drowning in an ocean of entitled motherfuckers
And they're pushing all my buttons
But they never seem to wonder why
Another and another, ask each other
Does it get your blood boiling, does it make you see red?
Do you wanna destroy it, does it get in your head?

👏👏 These lyrics are important 👏👏
Ugh.. the daily reminders to be more feminine, be sexier, be more ladylike, be thinner, be thicker, be funny, be quiet. This song and video embodies the RAGE.
Yes that's wright
Can very much relate as a trans person ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜💔🏳️🌈
“the RAGE” lmao 🤣
my mom forces me to shave my pits and my legs and she laughs at the facts that I told her about female hair. I hate it.
todoroki shoto One day you won’t have to worry about her approval. It gets better, I promise. 💜
As a Survivor 2:12 hits hard its still hurtful to remember how awful they Made me feel, and i couldnt help but get angry and that anger is part of the hearing process
I googled celebrities who have the birthday December 20, and found her off this website, because that’s my birthday. I thought she looked interesting and decided to RUclips her and lo and behold, I’m a fan. So crazy. She is unapologetically expressive with her music, she feels passionate about her message and I absolutely love it.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I buried the unseemly urges
Deep down in the ground with the roots
But it's all coming up to the surface
Maybe it's getting ready to bloom
And I don't wanna be a monster in the making
I don't wanna be more bitter than sweet
I don't know how to be just standing by blankly
Not gettin' angry
[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause another and another comin' up out of the gutter
Till I'm drowning in an ocean of entitled motherfuckers
And they're pushin' all my buttons
But they never seem to wonder why
Another and another, ask each other
[Chorus]
And does it get your blood boilin', does it make you see red?
Do you wanna destroy it?
Does it get in your head?
'Cause it gets my blood boilin' and I’m coming unglued
It would eat you like poison if you knew what I knew
You would be angry too
[Verse 2]
I'm seeing through crimson sunglasses
I'm breathing and counting to 10
I guess I'm fresh out of free passes, they'll pay if it happens again
And I don't wanna drink the venom they made me
I don't wanna be controlled by the past
Boy if you were me, could you really blame me?
Would make you crazy
[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause another and another coming up out of the gutter
Till I'm drowning in an ocean of entitled motherfuckers
And they're pushin' all my buttons
But they never seem to wonder why
Another and another, ask each other
[Chorus]
Does it get your blood boiling, does it make you see red? (Does it make you see red?)
Do you wanna destroy it? (Destroy it)
Does it get in your head? (In your head)
'Cause it gets my blood boiling and I’m comin' unglued
It would eat you like poison if you knew what I knew
You would be angry
[Bridge]
Calm down girl, why you so mad?
Why's your heart gone [?]
Oh, good girl, why you upset?
Guess they have forgotten what they did
[Chorus]
And does it get your blood boilin' and does it make you see red?
And do you wanna destroy it?
Does it get in your head?
'Cause it gets my blood boiling and I’m coming unglued
It would eat you like poison if you knew what I knew
You would be angry, you would be angry
You would be angry, you would be angry too

why you so mad? why’s your heart gone rotten
it’s all good girl
why you upset? guess they have forgotten what they did"

Being pushed is the only way some people know how to exist at all in today's world. Or favoring those who are doing the pushing, which is even more unforgivable. This music. This song. This rage. So important. Lola thank you for always taking us on a journey, even when it's uncomfortable.
