Yeah but when was the latest big corp that came out of Sweden? That actually have big economic gain that is? People making this video's will look mighty dumb in 10-20 years when Sweden have decayed enough for it to show outside our borders.
The things is Swedish IQ have been declining, new startups have declined, more are closing down as well, PISA results are down, education is a joke now, where we have to take in foreign expersts to our mining industry because we can't educate our own population in relevant subjects.
The only reason our BNP have been growing these past 10-20 years are due to mass immigration but that will catch on to us just like it does in Germany right now. It's not real economic growth as our population vastly outgrows it. We are the country on earth that have the highest degree of personal debt, especially when compared to the size of the Swedish economy.
Crime is massively on the rise, people don't feel safe going outside and we are targeted by Muslims. Unemployment are higher than it have been in years and are increasing. The way we measure employment have also changed so that the numbers are vastly skewed. All the while unskilled mass immigration is still happening. Massive abuse of our welfare systems occur to this day and we don't even know the exact numbers of people that live here or what they do.
It's all a balloon ready to pop.

This is often put forward but I don’t think it really explains much. Its Nordic neighbors didn’t have their infrastructures destroyed either yet Sweden faired significantly better than them until around 1990. And the most impressive economic success stories since WW2 were countries that *were* bombed to shit AND were very poor in natural resources, like Germany and Japan and South Korea. So it’s possible Sweden would actually have benefited in the long term from having its factories destroyed in the 1940s also.
As England and later the UK/Britain was expanding its colonial empire it was Sweden who supplied the most important raw materials for its ship industry (often seen as an industrial precursor), mainly iron and oak. This went on for centuries. So not only did Sweden, unlike Norway and Denmark (Finland was ruled by Sweden and later Russia during this time) have the natural resources, it also had a front row seat to observe the proto-industrial and industrial tech revolutions happening in Britain.
Sweden was always primed to become an industrial nation, which it did and most of the companies that dominate the Swedish stock exchange to this day were founded before WW2. Yes, these companies didn’t get destroyed in the war but it’s not like Denmark and Norway and Finland were ever on an equal footing with Sweden industrially before the war and had their stuff destroyed and then Sweden filled the void and left them in the dust, no they never had as much industry as Sweden and still don’t to this day. Norway in particular was very economically backward compared to Sweden until it found oil in the 1970s, it would not have shared Sweden’s trajectory had it also managed to avoid occupation.

There is an exception. Swedish nurses make twice what nurses in Finland. In Finland they make 2500-3500€/month while in Sweden they make 4000-6000€/month.
Finland has decided to let the public health care system collapse. And it has collapsed. That is very sad. We did most things right but messed up one important thing. You can still be happy in Finland as long as you are healthy. If you get sick and don't have workplace health care and can't pay for private then your life will get very hard and you will die painfully.

If you buy property using loans, the cost is the interest paid, and in not that many cases paying off installments of the loan itself. Banks give loans with *only* interest payments. The loan taker can deduct about 30% of that interest from his taxes. That is why I know so many who have had loans all their life and not been in the least worried about not making the payments. Once the property is sold the loan is payed back and new loans are taken on the new property - usually at a net profit. It never ends ... that is until the day interest rates skyrocket... I remember the 1990s.

In the 1980's gorwth was down to 1%. This led to a financial crisis 1992-1994, during which time well needed reforms and budget cuts were implemented. After that growth bounced back.

We used to be richer but the last years of our currency falling in value means we have lost a lot. A USD is about 80% more expensive than in 2015. So while my salary has increased since 2015 in USD I actually earn less now than I did then. This makes anything imported much more expensive and since in the modern age for a small country almost everything has to be imported it means we are more hit by cost of living going up than most Eurozone countries. Household debt is also very high thanks to housing prices having more than doubled in the last decade. If only we can get the Krona to be more valuable again things would be much better. Sweden doesn’t have a minimum wage by law. Maybe you mean minimums set by the unions if so the minimum is about 2000 dollars but it would be more like 3000 dollars if the value of the dollar was what it was a few years ago.

There is no light at the end of the euro tunnel. Sweden's currency troubles are temporary and can at least be handled.

Sweden had not an economy based on agriculture. The main export in the Middle Ages was tack iron. Politics in the Middle Ages was very much about the conflict between agriculturalists and industrialists (Men of the Mountains) and their different approaches to foreign relations.
Over time Sweden started to develop steel and manufactured goods for exports. The richest men were not wealthy landowners but the owners of ironworks.
In 1731 the Swedish Ostindian Company was founded. It was spectacular successful. It traded Swedish manufactured steel and iron goods for silver in Spain, silver for spices and tea in China, Spices and tea was brought back to Sweden and then smuggled to other countries in Europe and outcompeted other countries domestic Ostindian companies.

As a working class recident in Stockholm, Sweden I must say I do really enjoy a good standard of living when it comes to food, shelter and clean drinking water. I also earn a pretty decent salary giving me some financial freedom.
But I think the major flaw that's absent from most conversations when we get praise from other countries in Europe or the U.S is that money is far from everything and the huge flaws of our culture are concealed by our very honest attempt to make all our citizens live a good life. I think the west share some of these problems but some of the toxic elements of liberal ideology, i.e:
    • Freedom - the individuals choices for themselves are seen almost as one of the un questionable commandments of Christianity. A lot of people feel lost and without an understanding what to do to feel happy leading to them spending time on entertainment that only shut off their brain from figuring out what in the real world they should do to feel fulfilled.
    • Loneliness - we have surpassed Japan in lonely households.
    • High rate of depression and high suicide rates.
It's hard to say what we should or even could do about these issues but considering 50% of the people of Stockholm are single and 20% from the ages of I think 10 - 30 consider themselves without having any friends I think this is moving in a bad direction. Not only because people don't feel good but that not feeling good emotionally does spill out to society at large in various ways. People vote with their feelings, not rational ideas, we're driven by power intrests and if we feel powerless in a society we might one day vote for a person that promises us the world just as a certain Austrian painter did.

    • @danielandersson7515
      @danielandersson7515 11 месяцев назад +1

So because some people can't find their way to happiness you should reduce the freedom for everyone?? I'm triggered. You propose something leaning towards totalitarian ideologies. Freedom is a RIGHT. No one else has the right to decide your lifestyle or priorities. It's your right to spend your time on stupid entertainment if that's what you want. Furthermore, what a good and fulfilling life is is very individual, who is going to know that better than the person himself? Don't cut the freedom, provide help to those who want guidance instead.

    • @kebabfoto
      @kebabfoto 11 месяцев назад

@@danielandersson7515 I used to believe in world too so I don't blame you, I would also get triggered from what i'm saying until I started reading, not watching YT but actually reading.
I think very few people are on a path to "happiness". You're free to be a consumer and to devout your life to consuming different products and take different professions for consuming. Consuming is not the same as actual needs, it's desires, those can be nice to fulfill but that feeling dies out extremly quick.
This is our life, you wake up, eat, go to work, come home, keep yourself distracted until you fall asleep - repeat. That's really it.. There's no creativity left, only distractions and mediocracy is seen as having "a high self confidence and self esteem" and you ought to enjoy this life, it's a sin to feel down over the emptiness of this new religion of consuming.
Seeking happiness is meaningless, you never reach it and you're always a bit or very unhappy. I am not sure what life should be, but I feel like growing is meaning, learning is meaning, becoming something new and better is meaning, creativity is meaning, human beings are meaning but all this is coming into conflict with our way of life. They make money of you being a loser chasing the bag your entire life to buy the next iPhone and you're still a nobody. I am not a f-ing commie but I do believe we live in a sick world right now where people spend so much time distracted from feeling, creating and living that I slowly atleast is becoming an anti liberal.
Most people live really boring lives and portray an image to others that everything is fine, I am happy. And most likely you will defend this world, almost as if it were a real religion, the utilitarian mindset is a cancer that's hard to think yourself out of.

So the nazis would invade Sweden if Sweden didn't sell iron.

Sweeden is not particulary very rich in Europe. Netherlands,Switzerland,Austria,Belgium,Denmark,Norway are kinda above Sweeden in wealth, gdp per capital etc. Anyway the answer is obvious, stability and peace ! Observe how the countries in Eastern Europe are poorer than Western European ones because of a few reasons, mainly being interference from foreign, muslim invaders from Asia,Comunist from Russia. If Countries like Sweeden had to defend all their history against invaders from Asia or experience imposed comunism that crippled their economy they would not have been at all Wealthy. It doesn't mention the vast governmental and private sector corruption. The neutral policy has allowed Sweden to sell weapons to both sides of all wars since the Wiencongress and is the biggest reason for Sweden's wealth which is not distributed throughout society but kept by a group at the top, Investor and Wallenberg. The second biggest reason for Sweden's wealth is stemming back to the colonial days when Wallenberg sold opium in Asia but it is an open secret that they burned the books accounting for the transactions. Sweden also has the oldest central bank still in use, even older than the British. This video sounds more like a propaganda video, with great music in the background too. No, we don't have a lot of competition, at least not broadly, and not anymore.
It may have been the case back in the day, before Reagan and Thatcher put their shit stains all over global economies, but as we're moving closer and closer to terminal capitalism/corporatism (as capitalists tend to want to do), and Sweden is slipping in this transition. More and more markets have turned into oligopolies in the last 20 years, with ridiculous profits as a result, and the people have footed the bill. Income levels are stagnant compared to business profits, homelessness and poverty is on the rise, and the cracks in society have never been wider, as can be seen in the emergence of violent organised crime syndicates in the last few years, the likes of which we haven't had to endure since the big crash in the 90's.
Our school and healthcare systems, to pile on to the already precarious pile, are just barely scraping by at present, constantly hounded by demands to save money, to "trim the fat", while officials give shares of this market to private actors who just use it as a get-rich-quick-scheme while trying to cheat the system in every way possible, be it by cutting costly and difficult treatments in the healthcare sector, or by not accepting students who haven't already excelled in their studies in the school system, and so on.
To top it off, our spending on infrastructure is lagging hard, and the current infrastructure is aging badly. Last I heard, the maintenance on the rail system is behind some 70 billion Euro, and the road network is in an equally bad shape.
The broad wealth that still exists is in large part inherited, economic inertia in other words. It's very rare for someone to start from nothing and end up with a prosperous life, and this is true both for the countryside and the urban areas. In another 50 years, if the trend doesn't change, we'll be just as bad as the US.

Sweden is rich because of virtually no corruption and almost nobody screws you over. Trust is high between people. The welfare system is actually very tough and limited. If you are unemployed you only get help for a few months. Then they force you to work. No freebies here. Because its so cold and dark, frankly there is not much else you can do other than work and a few in-house hobbies, unless you like winter-sports or you are a lumberjack. For immigrants life is actually hard here. So I don’t really understand why it is so attractive for outsiders.

Municipalities in Sweden do not prioritize the population and spend the money on idiotic projects that help noone, and we can do nothing except watch while they take our tax money and we get nothing in return. The state might be considered rich for taking a disproportional amount of money from the people. For that same reason, many people in Sweden and in the rest of Europe can't make ends meet anymore. Tax is basically a legalized transfer of money from the poor to the rich.

Can it be that people go here from poor places willing to work at lower salaries and worse working conditions and don't join unions? Just like wages were suppressed in ancient Rome? Exactly what the Gracci brothers said? hint hint* No it's obvious due to immigration and if you look at history you'll see that the upperclass whenever they can do this to suppress wages and not only wages the democratic value of it's citizenry. I really implore you to look up the Gracci movement and you can see the parallels. It's not the exact same but it's scary how similar it is. Both have been caused by tax cuts on the rich and corporations, privatization and deregulation, monetarism, cutbacks to social programs and the social wage, and attacks on workers rights and unions. In sweden you always make ends meet.... Its part of our tax system, We actually help out those that struggle with making money. Aside from that we do pay proper wages here like on a full time job (im not educated) I earn currently 22k SKR a month after tax and if I get hurt I dont have to pay to go to the hospital, if I lose my job ill stil get money and the goverment will pay my rent till I can find a new one. I dont need to pay for my childrens education (dont have any) high tax is not bad it gives a lot of positive things. On average a US citizen pay around the same amount as a swedish one in taxes yet they get far far less.
