- In his first interview since he was jailed last month, R. Kelly says the charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse are all lies. The singer spoke with "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King for nearly 80 minutes Tuesday. He strongly denied having sex with underage girls or doing anything illegal. King asked Kelly about his rough childhood and his story of surviving years of sexual abuse. He also discussed how the allegation against him could affect his personal life and career. This interview in my humble opinion isn't helping. It really isn't. And his lawyer should have advised against him doing it.
If they have, they will be excused from being a juror. Duh. It’ll probably be a lot of older white folks who don’t listen to his music or even know who he is on the jury.

Just so you know, a potential juror may not be stricken simply because they've seen this interview or heard of this case. They will be asked if they can set aside what they've seen and heard and make a decision based solely on the facts presented in evidence. I understand how the voir dire process works. You clearly don't. Both sides have a limited number of peremptory challenges (eliminating jurors based on a hunch about their percieved bias) therefore the goal is not to remove EVERY person whose heard of this case, but to ensure impartiality in the minds of the jurors. So...It's not as simple as some here have suggested. He's clearly a narcissist who believes he can convince people of his innocence, hince this disaster of an interview. So yes, this interview was a terrible idea. Prosecutors can use this footage as evidence, even if he never takes the stand. This is testimony, any good lawyer would have advised against this. However, it's still his choice to speak out. What does he have to lose at this point? He wants sympathy.
