When Josh protests he is trying to impress a girl, Steel says "Don't take it so hard, I had to turn away some stars who are in your situation." If this happened today it would go viral or explode on Twitter after a mob of iPhones would film the employee who would’ve been fired for some type of discrimination and the folks running the carnival would have been sued followed by a GoFundMe campaign for Josh.
It's tough being slightly short and wanting to go on wild rides. I was like Josh, only younger. I was like 6 or 7 I think. I went to a theme park with lots of rides and some where height restricted. I was like an inch short and I was disappointed, but then my mom had an idea. She actually put something in my shoes in which made my height taller by an inch. From then on, I had the time of my life. The next year or two later, I was tall enough for anything. I was gifted. Josh could have put something in his shoes and get to go on, but I know this is a movie.
@dudetocartman I had something like that happen to me when I was at a carnival where I wanted to go on a ride and the ticket taker measured me and said that I was too small and told me that it's best I don't go on the ride where he said that he doesn't mind if I ride the ride but said that if something bad happened to me that I got injured, he could get into trouble which might be the same for the ticket taker here when he said that he didn't make the rules and when he said "try a kiddie ride" from 1:58-1:59 was like he was saying, "maybe next year you could try again." Regarding when you said your mom put something in your shoes to make you bigger, something like that happened on the movie "Problem Child 2" where the ticket taker told Junior that he wasn't tall enough to ride a ride and his enemy Trixie put stilts on her shoes to make herself bigger but, sometimes that could be dangerous to trick a ticket taker and they have reasons for someone not to ride a ride if they're not tall enough if a seat belt doesn't fit someone if they're not tall enough.
@kngrichard1911 If he kept the hat on to make himself bigger, the ticket taker would have told him to take his hat off (they do that in real life too, to see a persons actual height) and if he goes on a ride when he’s not tall enough, that could be dangerous if he’s not tall to fit into a seatbelt. Not only that but, I heard in real life someone went onto a rollercoaster at an amusement park when he wasn’t tall enough but used something to make himself look bigger just to ride the ride and the rollercoaster even went upside down and when it did, he slipped out through the seatbelt since he wasn’t really tall enough but, he was fortunate that someone grabbed him quickly and was holding onto him the rest of the ride and when the ride ended and the person in charge of the ride saw him and wondered if he had his seatbelt on, the person lied and said that he was far too skinny and slipped out of the seatbelt. After that he felt it’s best not to make himself look big for a ride and just wait until he grows to the right height just to be safe. So for that here, it’s good that the ticket taker stopped Josh from getting onto the ride since this ride also went upside down which would have caused Josh to get into an accident like the person in real life who played a trick.

The moment Josh couldn’t go on that ride and is devastated because of that, this is me right there. I mean I can totally relate to this. I have no college degree, no girlfriend, nothing too big. I am still stuck with my job in a fast food restaurant with unpleasant people, a university with mediocre to excruciatingly horrible teachers, and worst of all, I’m still living with my family who hates me. Now, lately, I’ve been wishing that I had both a college degree AND a real stable girlfriend so that I will not feel so left out from my friends and peers. But because of my mediocre to excruciatingly horrible behavior, I don’t believe I will cuz things will not change. Maybe it’s just not meant to be. I mean, if I had a girlfriend and a college degree, I wouldn’t feel too devastated or left out as I am right now. 😔
Where was the Dad in all the rest of the movie! Son goes missing and Dad doesn't even appear??!! I was under the impression his Dad was dead. All we ever saw was the Mum, even when he returned home at the end of the movie we only ever hear her. I thought the tracksuit bottoms that he changed into when he grew over night were old clothes that the Mum kept that belonged to his Dad. This is really odd to me. I never noticed the Dad in that clip before.
