How is it that people don't prepare for emergencies? All areas of the country experience some type of natural disasters, in addition to the man-made ones. You can get a single burner propane camp stove for $35 on Amazon. Solar lights. A small power bank that you keep topped off. You don't have to be a full-blown prepper in order to collect basic supplies for unexpected events like this.
It's called pure laziness! It's still baffles me how many Americans will sit their butts on the couch and not learn anything to better themselves. There's a plethora of information out there for everyone to learn and educate themselves on how to keep themselves warm when the electricity goes out or how to keep themselves cool, how to feed yourself and how to stay budget friendly even if you work a job that lets you live paycheck to paycheck or barely should I say, people need to know how to take care of themselves and stop mooching on others and depending on others especially the government. It's good that neighbors help but a lot of these people take advantage of the kindness of others because of their laziness. People need to get up and start educating themselves and buying what they need to buy and preparing themselves for situations like complete blackouts, lack of electricity, lack of running water, lack of groceries on the shelves, lack of medication on the shelves, extremely exorbitant ridiculous high prices for food, lack of gasoline or coal or propane, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, whatever it may be there's nothing new Under the Sun and people need to be responsible for themselves and for their families and stop relying on others. That's why this country is so lazy because people don't want to learn how to take care of themselves and their families which is their first priority but instead they stand out with signs for handouts when they should have been taking care of the problem long time ago
It is wonderful that so many are willing to help. However, we all need to an emergency supply of food, the means to cook it as well as water, warm clothes, blankets, heat and even a generator with fuel on hand and a wind-up radio. One can easily gather the essentials. Never a good idea to depend upon others. Camping gear can be dual purpose when used for emergencies. Many items can be bought at thirft stores ahead of need, for just a few dollars.
You can also check your local free cycle or facebook marketplace groups for emergency items too. Tag and estate sales are also good places to get emergency and prepping items too.
Amen. Especially, if surrounding towns, or, even the whole state may be going through the same thing. You sure don't want to have to rely on the gov when that happens, either.
It is great that they can get a little food but never count on getting help from any where, this could have been very bad, so get some food wile you can, never count on others for your needs.
people in places like that have more of a community type mindset. They have people who care about others in time of need, and whoever caused this power grid outage hurt a lot of people for their selfishness. I hate living where I am because no one cares at all. I don’t even know my neighbors because they don’t care to know you. I wish I could go someplace that was more nice. I wish I had a car if I had a car I would drive out of here and never look back
It's not counting on others, power goes out then what? Not everyone can afford a generator! They cost money, plus the fuel! If you have an electric stove (what government is pushing for) then what? People without money are in big trouble (gov counts on that)! Sad but true. We "all" need to work together! Like they did in this county!
This is a prepper test this is only a test had this been an actual prepper emergency would you have been ready? Stock up on food, water, and energy Solar panels, reflective thermal blankets, 55 gallon outdoor oven, 55 gallon indoor/outdoor heater, 55 gallons of used waste oil to power indoor outdoor heater, ...
Not only do my wife and I have an extra generator, but we have an extra queen size bed ready. Because we are so conservative we not only believe in being ready we believe in charity. Our most recent tithe was to a local food bank.
I'm going to say it... cuz somebody's got to. If you start looking for help after 24 to 48 hours without electricity that just shows you just how irresponsible and how unprepared many people are. You cannot live without electricity for just a couple of days or a couple of weeks or a couple of months.. you're in big big trouble. Start thinking outside the box and start prepping your family for situations that might occur. They might not occur but if they do you're going to be better off and prepared and ready then sitting on the couch being lazy not educating yourself in how to survive electric shortages, food shortages, Gas shortages, Propane shortages,.. I think it's time people start getting out of La La Land and stepping into reality. If you think that your neighbors and your government are going to get you out of trouble and the situation that you're in every single time a hiccup happens in our society or in the system like it just occurred here with the electricity.. you're in big trouble! There are many many things you can learn to keep yourself warm, comfortable, cool, fed, with all the Necessities without having to put your hands out for every little hiccup that occurs. I think people need to stop being lazy and get off the couch and do something about their situation their surroundings and their life
