Folks, DO NOT IN ANY WAY try that stunt unless you want to lose some fingers very quick! Your fingers will be trapped so quick you won't realize it before it's too late, let alone a kickback occurs and shoots the material around the room.

Climb cut itself is not that dangerous, with shallow passes. But that method at the end is just wrong way to do climb cut. Too much material taken at one pass for that blade (bit diameter) climb cut with too much material taken, gloves with spinning blade and that close too.

May i respectfully suggest that when you drill all the way thru wood to drill halfway and then flip it over to finish the hole. No tearout......

Yeah, a backerboard is infinitely easier than somehow measuring out the exact position of a hole on the opposite side.
No need to measure if using small pilot drill first.
