I would like to thank you for this video. My father was broke down six hours away from home. No Machanic could figure out what was wrong with the truck. Your video helped out. We just want to say thank you for posting this video. It was real helpful.
I really enjoy your simple, logical old fashioned approach to repairs. Being an old mechanic who tries to show those with less experience, I appreciate your calm relaxed approach to solving problems. I believe others would enjoy your continued teachings as well.
a certain canadian taught me the best way to clear up electrical issues is dual wielding ether cans into the intake while redlining pegged out on a cold start
Anybody else miss the old days? One or two barreled carburetors, points, and mechanical fuel injection diesels? I have an 1967 MGB, 49 CJ 3, 1953 Chevy 3/4 ton pickup and a 1961 John Deere tractor. If, and I repeat, if anything goes wrong on the road, I can usually fix it on the road! I agree about the crimp on connectors! I always have trouble with them, usually at the worst time!
I've had issues in the past with those braided ground straps, they aren't reliable in areas where they are exposed to the elements as they reply on a crimp connection in the terminals and they tend to go high resistance exactly as you found.... I always replace them with a normal cable with good crimp connections and heatshrink with the inbuilt hot glue seal over the crimp.... works much better
Grounds can be a nightmare. My 03 cummins will do weird things when a body ground gets dirty. Thank God my Dad's a awesome mechanic. He found it in about a minute.
I found some crimp on connections at a marine supply that crimp on ,have heat shrink to water proof ,and soldiers the connection as heat gun does its thing , aren't cheap works really good.
Help !! My 2000 gmc 7500 top kick started with someone changing the starter not sure if this played into it. It ran but progressively got worse rough running, low power then no spark . Found crankshaft position sensor mounting bolt was stripped and held in with silicon. We tapped the thread and installed a new crank sensor but still crank no spark. The throttlebody engages when the key is turned on, and the fuel pump, relays are clicking, grounds have been checked in a new battery. Any ideas
Having troubleshooting DC circuits for 50+ years, I must say that 90% of the time the problem is ground related, and in AC 99% of the time the problem is the neutral.
I am a Technician At the Chevy dealership I work at and on the gas powered trucks with the drive by wire throttle body they throw the reduced engine power code as well and the manufacturer has us replace the whole throttle body.
My dash is locked up radio says loc all the lights are on and none of the gauges work. I had and injector put in and the dash is lock up, and I can’t get any body to work on it. Where can I the programming to diagnose the problem.
My 2004 GMC top pick C5500 bangs when I put it in reverse and the wrench 🔧 with the gear light comes on, when I put it in reverse and won’t move in reverse and barely moves in drive, what could that be??
I have a 2000 gmc c7500 the power cuts off driving and the rpms needle starts up and down and it does explosions the truck starts jumping like I say the rpm needle drops down and the engine is to accelerated I don’t know what to do I took it with the mechanic and nothing works
As I remember?? that upper braided strap I couldn't get my hands on to?? Guess I will have to try harder when the now problems are fixed. I took 4 parallel #8 wire Crimped/soldered/ dual wall heat shrunk onto the battery ground to the one which is above the passenger tire inside the frame two forward for future and two to the rear for added light DC. I Kopper Koted the H**** out of the ready rod with S/S washers and . As it is easier to prevent a problem then fix it.

You dont need to worry about electric grounds...
That's actually a sharp-looking tow rig. Keep up the good work guys! love this channel.

I agree about too much electronics and sensors.

Good thing, you are on first name basis with a reliable Mr. Goodwrench repairman that you can trust. :)

GOTTA LOVE ALL THE EMISSIONS CRAP‼️☝️
Are there any broken wires in the harnes
What is the name of the GM program you have on your Computer and where can I get it for my 2007 GMC 5500 Topkick?
Wow! Well atleast you found the issues and fixed them.
Was this before or after the crank broke on the topkick??
I found some crimp on connections at a marine supply that crimp on ,have heat shrink to water proof ,and soldiers the connection as heat gun does its thing , aren't cheap works really good.
The connectors supplied looked like that style. I tried them and found them to be useless, went back to either straight solder or crimping.

If I remove my condenser, will it help the Topkick not overheat I do not need my air-conditioning anymore
Where did you get parts for that I have lots of trouble getting parts

If yours is like mine the wires rub on the motor and ground out . And I get trans fluid in my trans plug on the back of the trans

Check fluid, check for codes. there is a internal filter that should be serviced every 2 times the external spin on is serviced.
Don’t you just love these electronic gadgets on vehicles these days.
NO!
Hey what program are you running on your computer to diagnose the truck? I have a 2004 and I need to be able to check mine out
I am a GM tech, so I have access to GM diagnostic programs.
@recoveryteam
Okay cool do you know of any program I can use online that's for the public??
unless it is a communication problem between modules most aftermarket scan tools will do the trick.
Every branche has its own issues. With boats we never use the braided straps but cables. Steel ships sometimes stil use the hull as earth.
Gotta love it! We're not goin to Mars! It's a truck! Move me and the cargo from point A to B!!!
keep the videos coming
don't you just love how they have shoved the motor under the firewall
so typical later model gm : @ the trouble codes and issues :))

Did u figure it out. I have the same issue. Thanks
Possible electrical issue. Check starter wiring.

Ive always had bad luck with bluetooth grounds but i see them all the time
Help me a lot
Theres two types of duramax owners:
Those who have rebuilt their fuel system, and those who are going to rebuild their fuel system
I always hated butt connector. I haven't seen one last, or look proper.
Duramax with a throttle air valve? In what world is that. Air intake heater maybe.
Take the truck for a ride the lights will come back on if they're still a problem
duct tape or zip ties..............fixed is fixed
If you find another bad connector why not just replace plastic part and not the harn
😄 GM 😅😀😝
Musta been a ford mechanic workin on it lol
Noice/first
i fell asleep on this one
