Agreed, infact all creatures deserve kindness, love, and affection. If that cannot be provided by an owner or loved one the relationship is an unfortunate failure and a separation of the two creatures or individuals should occur and they should find a new home for a pet or if in a relationship with similar issues it is often best to be on one's own awhile to try and understand where the relationship went wrong and if anything could have avoided that. I feel the same should hold true in the case where an individual and pet simply could not establish a loving and respectful relationship. I, however, do not believe the animals color or colors will be the cause of any issues. My wife, who vehemently vowed to never have cat again, because the pain of losing them was too big, decided it was time for a new cat. So we began searching the websites of shelters. I was determined to bring home an orange striped cat and I was going to call him "Rosten" wich means as much "Redhead" in Flemish slang. Ended up with TWO black cats instead, brother and sister. BEST. DECISION. EVER! Did still call the brother "Rosten" however. It confuses people. And it's not completely wrong, because in the right sunlight that rich copperglow just shines thru.

I had 10 cats and from experience I can say cat's coat colours definitely do not change the personality, my calico was talkative, my orange cat acted tough and macho (He really wasn't though and was very cute), and my blacks were very sweet, and my beige were very kind and cuddly.
My beautiful black cats have always been very vocal. My calico's have all been temperamental. If they got mad, they would do something bad, sneakily. My tortie had much attitude but was sweet, loved to cuddle.
I’ve had two tortoiseshell kitties in my life: Mimi from my childhood and Revy who I’m raising now. Mimi was docile, lazy, loved to meow (or scream, as we called it), and had so many brown patches of a single shade on her body. Revy is wild, stubborn to a biting fault, cannot meow (she might have a laryngeal birth defect or maybe she’ll develop her meow as she grows up), and has way fewer brown markings but in many more shades of brown. Mimi was short-coated while Revy has a medium coat. Mimi never licked faces but Revy licks faces like a dog! The two are on complete opposite ends of the spectrum on everything, so I just cannot say the “tortoitude” of the tortoiseshell is all that true. All cats deserve love, no matter their color!
Everything said in this video is 100% true. I got my first cat in a weird way, she came from a house where she weren't looked after properly, she ended up at a family members where I was staying and I ended up feeding her everyday, she hated everyone and was very protective over her safe space she had made. Over a few months she started to warm to me and in the end she would come to me all the time to cuddle and relax, but wouldn't let anyone else touch her. 3 years later we've moved around a bit but we're now settled in our own home, she is super relaxed and chilled, I got a kitten shortly after we moved in and it took her time to get used to it but they get along now. She has a good sense of character, she'll only go to someone if she feels they're safe to go to, and she's generally right. Never in a million years would I of thought she would be who she is now when I first saw her

@@RedRoseSeptember22 well, i had that figured, but i have had problems getting his channel to come up on my phone, as i dont have a computer. The mother cat is a stray, and will be returned to my friends yard after she is fixed. I was hoping to get a response from The Purring Journal, but theyre probably too busy for that. It's best to adopt a cat from the shelter or rescue one from the streets, and it's also important and better for your cat to get one who is around the same age as your current cat so they don't have to aggravate the hell out of them, I don't know how old your cat is, but please for the sake of him or her get one the same age range and introduce them slowly and gently and also with plenty of love and patience because they deserve it.
Calico cat adopted me when she was pregnant. She had been abandoned years before. I made my basement available to cats in the winter time for shelter, where I gave them food and water. Are used cameras to monitor the comings and going‘s. once in a while a cat that has an owner will show up, but rarely and they never stay. They had warm beds to sleep in and I had a number of heat lamps situated above the beds. But she decided that she wanted upstairs. And when I would bring food down I was aware where she was and she would be watching me from a distance. When I didn’t see her or any of the cats I made no move towards them and left them alone. It was always there a call. She gave birth to four kittens, a white and black, two yellow tabby‘s, and one black cat. All of them are heavily socialized and handled after the first week. Everyone eventually slept in my bed with me for closeness. Finally the day came when I had to make the decision. When I brought the kittens in for a check up and their shots at the vet for the first time, my vet was very impressed. The second round, she told me that I had the sweetest kittens she’s ever seen and her niece was looking for a kitten. Since it was the right home, I didn’t charge anything. When they got there they selected the black and white cat, and she fell in love with Boo, One of the yellow cats. The last two I could not find a good home for that would meet my qualifications. So I kept them. Both had totally different personalities, the only thing in common as being sweet and gentle and affectionate. The black cat I named Lux Supreme, or supreme light. He has always been the type that watches before joining. When a new game showed up with the kittens he would watch, then he would join the game when he knew the rules. When people come over to my house he would stand back hide and watch them. He move around when he could to a different location, and watch them. When I had cancer, he was very concerned and never left my side, with several times during the day and night coming to smell my breath and then touching my cheek lightly with his paw. I had already decided to keep him anyway, because I knew the reputation of black cats and I didn’t want anything to happen to him.
😻😺 I have had all kinds of cat 🐈⬛ 🐈 with different color fur, multi color, calico, long hair black & orange/ginger w/ white! They have all been such loving 🥰 kitty ! 😻
Growing up, my parents had friends who had a white Persian that was both deaf and blind. His name was Casper and he moved very comfortably throughout the home because he knew where everything was. The family taught me how to tap the surface of whatever he was on in front of him before touching him so that he wouldn't be startled.
I've had cats of all colors and have found through my personal experience, that calico are very loving but independent. Tuxedos are the most friendly and loving. Simmered are very strong willed and playful even if you're being attacked, they just play rough. Orange cats are very sweet but seem to be independent too. My black cats have always wanted that love bit only when they want it.
Personality is more linked to the breed than the color, but many breeds are associated with a particular color. That being said, a video on cat racism was not something I was expecting today.
New sub. I’m binging videos. I grew up as a baby with a black cat and have always loved them and have had a few over my life. I remember back in the 80’s I wanted to adopt one from the spca and they did a thorough interview because of the time of year.
we have a mostly white cat he is a total sweetheart, our black cat thinks he is a human and never stops talking . He is a total baby and so sweet. Our Tabby cat is a grumpy girl.
One of the sweetest cats I ever had was my first cat Rascal - and he was black. Nothing evil or sinister about that - just a cuddly friend. The worst thing he ever done was leave me heartbroken after he passed at 13 years of age. That is pretty much the worst thing lots of pets do - they just totally break your heart when you lose them. In the last few months lost both a sweet black and white cat who was 18, and a dog who was 14 - miss them both, as well as all the others we've loved and lost. Love knows no color - whether human or pet.
Even though orange cats are considered to be calm and friendly Gus from marvel can be feisty so it doesn't matter what coat colour every cat is different 😊
A cats coat can impose a certain level of emotional expression which makes you perceive them differently similarly to how different colours and patterns in art can influence your mood.
I've never really thought about how a cat's coat color can speed up or slow down adoption rates. I have a black 7 year old male and an 18 year old female right now. In my lifetime, I've also had two gray cats, and I lived with a gray tabby and a tan cat with bright blue eyes. (Those two were my old college roommate's cats.) Sure, they all had their own individual personalities, but they were all loving cats. The best thing to do is go to the shelter with an open mind. Your cat will choose you!
LoL I have 2 black kittens and they are so sweet. But they can be Little Devils ! Their favorite spot is in the very top kitchen cabinets . Yes I said IN. They love to hang out on top too but they know that being in makes me mad lol.😁❤
I have a tortoiseshell kitten who likes to crawl into the fridge during meal times! Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a loud enough meow for me to hear her very well. It’s barely a whisper due to either a laryngeal birth defect or she just doesn’t know how to raise her voice (my vet isn’t too sure yet since she’s only four months old). Because she has such an indoor voice, she has gotten stuck in there for about 30 seconds a few times since I brought her home in September! If I don’t feel the distinct pull on my pant leg of a kitten trying to climb up my body when food is being made, I know she’s in the fridge! Kittens live to make their lowly human servants mad!
I’ll never understand the bias against black cats when they are so beautiful… They look like a little panthers and I know I like my cats like I like my clothes. Black is always in fashion!
i actually have 2 cats of my own, and one of them, well... didn't have that good of an upbringing, when we got him, he was a mess, and i mean that on the emotional scale, he was utterly terrified of his own shadow and depressed, even physically malnourished, and he wasn't even young to boot, he is on the older side, and we didn't even know he would live with us. my brother just up and got him off of his friend without asking us. but even so, we showed him nothing but care and love, and now he might as well be one of the most loving and playful cats you can find, he is active, love seeking, and very social now. we even let him go outside and he always goes back home on his own, if you pat him he would even start to follow you around like a baby duck, he is just that cute. just shows how cats act just if you show them care right?
I use to work at a rspca cattery and it’s still true that the least likely adopted cats are black cats & white & black coloured cats. It’s really sad tbh
Bruh, I heard that orange coated cats were seen as a-holes… but my previous cat who was orange coated was very nice, loving, and playful. He slept with me all the time and I just adored that. He was called Binx. I have a gray cat with the same pattern coat as Binx who is named Kylo (Kye is the nickname I gave him). Kye and Binx surprisingly have the same personality, almost like Binx was just reborn as a gray cat called Kye who had landed in my arms like a Godsend.
My orange cat is very friendly and my tortoiseshell is "spicy". I love them both but it is interesting that their personalities match the stereotypes. Also black cats are cool af
I own a black cat, he used to be stray I think he used to live on the road but when I was about 3 years old a black cat ran to me on my unfenced backyard and we decided to adopt it. When we got him, for about 3 years he was about a 6-7 on aggressiveness for about 1.5 years. The other half he was about a 4-5 on aggression and now I rate him a 2-3. He doesn't go easy on other cats or snakes, he's easily a 9-10 for them and the danger level for other animals around him is really high lol. He's a fighter, he killed a brown snake in my backyard before ( If i'm sure about 2nd deadliest snake on earth). He was always an outside cat and we had him for about 6 years, That's more than half my life now and he's staying at our veranda most of the time. (His name used to be Blocky because he blocked the door and he still does but now we call him Black-Eye) The edit is just grammar mistakes btw
I think it's basically true.. My Angora calico long haired cat doesn't like to be hugged at all.. Once i grab her she starts trying to run away as her fur becomes messy as she is long haired maybe the stubborn behaviour appears in long haired cats as they don't like to get messed up, not from the colour look😼😻🌞 Whatever their personality i will always love and adore the moments we are together💚💚💚💚💚
I've had a calico cat Nova and she was the sweetest and clingy. We never had a bad moment. I also had a black cat and Wednesday was full of energy and sweet. She was a lap cat. Now I have a grey cat that's just clingy and sweet and just follows me everywhere and has to be in the same room or in eye sight.
I have had many black cats growing up and have one now. My Binx is a Mama's Boy, always wanting cuddles and love. Sadly, I did find him at a shelter, it was the third one he was moved to and they had halved the adoption fee. Well, someone else's loss my gain. I have the world's best living hot water bottle to snuggle with.
I once had a Tuxedo. Loved Sam. I love Black cats and don't believe they are witch familiar. But I remember either reading or hearing how Shelters won't sell black cats during October because they are sacrificed by witches and others too. There are alot.of beautiful black cats. I know that I've always heard one of their parents are half Simease. With the case of my Sam and her dad
My mom has two orange cats, female, and they’re assholes lol. I have a silver tabby (male) and he is a doll! I also have a brown tabby (female) she’s nuts but so so loving. I also have a tortie (obvi female) and she is batshit nuts!! I also have a brown tabby with mostly white body (female) and she was lovey until she went back feral. I bottle fed her from birth. Coat patterns matter!!
Like how they've been treated and raised over time sometimes decides their personality and their health and trust in humans, we are the ones that mess up everything for them and we blame them for it.
Black bring very good luck! as we were bouncing from apartment to apartment before we had our two black cats. Now just last year we finally got a condo that is ours. Black cats can also say certain people words such as: hi, hello, yeah, no, uh-huh, nut-uh Our cat Ben has even been known to say Coral (his sisters name) and Mama which he now calls Coral
My buff-colored cat was as outgoing as a dog - very friendly and cuddly. Never met a person he couldn’t charm - even people who thought they disliked cats.
White cats don't get adopted as quick either...especially odd eyed ones...I rescued 3 from death row! All mine are able to hear ....when they want to that is! Lol!
I have been caring for a wild black cat and he’s as skittish as he was from day one…..aloof, skittish and until he got whipped, the king of king of the neighborhood. Now he’s having problems leaving his home due to another cat keeping him trapped so he’s been much later when coming by for dinner and whining at night when he missed out on dinner and other neighborhood wanderers.
Just treat a cat the same way you would treat a kid you love the hell out of or better in my opinion because they deserve it, I was really bad to my cat when i had her over the years and will still never forgive myself for it.
I do believe a cat colour can effect their personality but I love all cats in general. if I get a at or not I go on if I like the cat and if the cat likes me. I have four cats and one is black, I have found her to be very friendly and sweet. I am a witch so the whole witch thing don`t bother me. I just see it as a silly superstation and they where wrong pursauted along with us witches. very interesting video
My cat is 1/2 Cali& 1/2 Tortishell. Female now 14 years.I’ve read the colour does make them more sensitive & since adoption I didn’t know this) but she was lovely & the day I showed up they were going to euthanize her bc nobody else wanted her! I held her she clung to me for dear life. Honestly she’s both sweet mostly) but saucy or spicy……or maybe it was all in me head. She’s very beautiful likes the camera though I never dress her in silly outfits or anything……SHES A CAT NOT A TOY, Her name is Pumpkin she’s love of my life Love them over over

I love all cats, no matter their color! And for some reason, they often like me too. Maybe because im usaully quiet.
I have 2 black cats a male ans female. We also have three tuxedo cats and. And a calico cat.
Ooh a house full of kitties!!! Love it ♥
Growing up, my parents had friends who had a white Persian that was both deaf and blind. His name was Casper and he moved very comfortably throughout the home because he knew where everything was. The family taught me how to tap the surface of whatever he was on in front of him before touching him so that he wouldn't be startled.
Purrrrfect video!
😺
I would love to get a Calico cat! 😁
Ah...you have "shelf models"! Luckily mine seem to be "floor models"!
I have a gray tabby cat and she is the friendliest cat you'd ever meet.
I’ll never understand the bias against black cats when they are so beautiful… They look like a little panthers and I know I like my cats like I like my clothes. Black is always in fashion!
I love Salem he was a gorgeous black cat, when he wasn't the cg cat, but he was also loveable as the cg cat too.
My black cat is the sweetest, most tolerant cat I've ever had. I'm so happy I listened to him when he told me to adopt him!
This guy never had a torti because tortitude is 100%real
I have a Torti and she is the most sweetest cat ever. She has never bitten me or scratched me
I wish this stereotype would go away. Any cat can be a total love bug as long as they're shown love! It's like cat racism.
i actually have 2 cats of my own, and one of them, well... didn't have that good of an upbringing, when we got him, he was a mess, and i mean that on the emotional scale, he was utterly terrified of his own shadow and depressed, even physically malnourished, and he wasn't even young to boot, he is on the older side, and we didn't even know he would live with us. my brother just up and got him off of his friend without asking us. but even so, we showed him nothing but care and love, and now he might as well be one of the most loving and playful cats you can find, he is active, love seeking, and very social now. we even let him go outside and he always goes back home on his own, if you pat him he would even start to follow you around like a baby duck, he is just that cute. just shows how cats act just if you show them care right?
I have cats of every color and they do seem to influence their personality. I love them all!!
I have 5 cats.
Asher (male, gray tabby color) - Gray Tabby/Tonkenese
Cheese (female, black color) - Black cat/Siamese
Bella (female, gray/white color) - Brit. Longhair/Brit. Shorthair)
Gray (male, grey color) - Brit. Longhair
White (female, white color) - Brit. Shorhair
Cats personality depends on how you treat them.
My female mostly-black tuxedo kitty, Mia, is very sweet, laid back and very friendly.😇💕Adopted from a shelter💕
I don't know how they do it but a car knows instantly if you like them and they know if a person has a good heart or not. I love all cats.
You even may be able to turn a feral cat into a regular cat with kindness and lots and lots of patience.
ive got a black cat he is very loving and loyal
I use to work at a rspca cattery and it’s still true that the least likely adopted cats are black cats & white & black coloured cats. It’s really sad tbh
It’s crazy how color prejudices are also tied when adopting cats . 😢
That's a human trait. Let it be.
Aw that’s great good for you!! :)
19:17 I saw a four leaf clover!
I've had two black cats, in my life. Both were sweethearts.
My cat is 80% white 20% tan he is a tabby and his mom was 100% ginger his personally is great Iv had him for 14 years.
My calico cat is all of the above.
I liked that picture of Salem.
My orange cat is very friendly and my tortoiseshell is "spicy". I love them both but it is interesting that their personalities match the stereotypes.
Also black cats are cool af
Cats of all coat colors are beautiful and just plain awesome and deserve to be treated as such.
FWIW: my friends orange cat fits the stereotype, as did her prior tortie.
(His name used to be Blocky because he blocked the door and he still does but now we call him Black-Eye)
The edit is just grammar mistakes btw
They're freaking gorgeous.
I have a black cat calico and a ginger cat 💕
All of the black cats I know are super playful and friendly. Silver tabby’s however…
My cat is black/gray with a stripe pattern
I had a black cat and she was a blessing I never realized I had until I lost her, go figure.
All cats should be loved no matter the color! I have a black cat and this is sad.
Every cat that I have is the most wonderful cat in the world!
I have a kitten with four colors and another one that almost the same
9:20
Lucky cat
Found four leaf clover
Black bring very good luck! as we were bouncing from apartment to apartment before we had our two black cats. Now just last year we finally got a condo that is ours.
Black cats can also say certain people words such as: hi, hello, yeah, no, uh-huh, nut-uh
Our cat Ben has even been known to say Coral (his sisters name) and Mama which he now calls Coral
I love ❤️ black cats 🐈.
I love black cats as I think they’re so beautiful.
My buff-colored cat was as outgoing as a dog - very friendly and cuddly. Never met a person he couldn’t charm - even people who thought they disliked cats.
Cats of all shapes and sizes and coat colors and eye colors and everything else deserve to have a happy and healthy and fun and loving life.
HP Lovecraft had a pet black cat with a uh.... interesting... name
White cats don't get adopted as quick either...especially odd eyed ones...I rescued 3 from death row! All mine are able to hear ....when they want to that is! Lol!
Odd eyed whites are my favorite 😍
TLDW: answer is no
We have 4 black cats and they all have different personalities.
You mean... PURRsonalities? 😹
My cat is a orange cat and you could be petting he and would bit you. And my calico cat is much nice.
Almost all my cousins have cats! Accept me! 😢
I miss Sylvester that was the best black kitty 🐈⬛
Just treat a cat the same way you would treat a kid you love the hell out of or better in my opinion because they deserve it, I was really bad to my cat when i had her over the years and will still never forgive myself for it.
I have a black and whitr cat, and a black cat
She’s very beautiful likes the camera though I never dress her in silly outfits or anything……SHES A CAT NOT A TOY,
Her name is Pumpkin she’s love of my life
Love them over over
