@@BrandonStellmach I'm less worried about the engine than some other parts that aren't designed to handle too much crazy power. It's easy to forget about the rest of the drivetrain. Have you upgraded your brakes? That was a big need that I noticed on my turbo Corolla.

You handled it like an adult get everything the right way checked off all the boxes on the checklist and now you are at the best spot you could ever be next thing is the tune then your machine is insured and happy while you enjoy your SmPG..(smiles per gallon) 😂 happy for you brotha!! Edit: so cool too to see you have the whole exhaust system back connected and installed too...i was able to piece mine together and get the exhaust shop to weld mine together Frankenstein style lol but its on and only has a slight bottleneck where it goes over the axle from mid pipe after cat and all that and goes to 2.5" back to finish off the rest of the full 3" to the back...best thing is its literal only diff was a very very slight slower spool up besides that the turbo and entire system is done and runs amazingly.

Yes! The final chapter for the last corolla! As for modifying and working on my cars, I have just been slowing learning as a hobby! Don’t have any mechanic background.
Interesting video indeed, most cars can handle being struck by lightning just fine, it's weird that it completely killed your corolla in such a strange way. That being said, what happens when you turb your corolla? If the engine is healthy and you don't go past 7 psi, most likely nothing will happen and you may be able to run it like this for years. If you try to go over that limit and push past 10 psi, your stock bottom end will bite the dust in no time. The conrods are thin like toothpicks on those engines. After going from 7 psi to 11 psi on mine a few years back, I barely drove her 500 miles before she started suspiciously burning oil (almost 2 quarts in the span of 500 miles lmao). It turned out one of the conrods was starting to bend, and therefore its piston wasn't sealing properly. I, as the dumbass I was back then, refilled the oil and kept on driving, and eventually, during a highway pull, that weak conrod found its way out of the engine, punching a large hole in the crankcase together with an explosive puddle of oil. Needless to say the whole engine was ruined. I got a short block and built the internals, bottom end and top end. I ran it at 15-16 psi just fine for around 11k miles, then recently, one of the piston ringlands broke between the first and second rings. The car still ran but was smoking like a steam train engine, so overhaul number 2 it is... I believe this time, the failure was caused by overheating in and around the combustion chamber, leading to ring butting, basically the pistons got too hot to the point where the rings expanded over their physical limits, with both ends of the ring butting into each other, deforming the ring, putting pressure on the ringlands and eventually leading to structural failure. The conclusion is, if you're gonna turbo your corolla and you don't want to spend thousands on internal upgrades and/or overhaul your engine every other year, stick to under 7 psi if you want to keep it somewhat reliable, otherwise accept that your car will never be truly reliable again and should be treated as a racecar, something you take out on weekends every once in a while, or for track days, drag racing events and stuff like that.
I know I would have never thought lightning would have ever took out the corolla. But there was a bunch of internal electronic problems! As for boosting the engine. I was taking a look at some of your videos, and I believe you have a 1ZZ engine, which I know they are not known for any performance and boost, so the 7 PSI on the stock internals would be safe. As for this corolla, this has the 2ZR engine in it, which actually was in the lotus Elise, and stock makes around 8 PSI of boost with a super charger. I believe the 2ZR can be pushed harder than the 1ZZ engine. As it’s been tested with lotus as well!
on a turbo corolla or stock? turbo: you don't get headers anymore. you get a turbo manifold. stock: yes, they make it much louder. they can flow better than stock but not always, and you need a tune for that to matter anyway
@@CarFlixNChill You don't use a header on a turbo build, you use a turbo manifold so the turbo bolts to it. On a NA build you can use the tradition 3 mods but you need to do all 3 to get any real benefit. I've done it both ways. I have a 2009 Corolla S that I turbocharged and have done a lot with this build. I also have a 2017 Corolla iM that I wanted to see what I could do with a NA build. It's been fun to do 2 different builds. I hope that makes it clearer for you.
The turbo kit is from Turbokits.com. The 2ZR can easily handle around 250hp safely from what I have heard! And on the base tune I was around the 250hp.

I had thoughts about doing the same thing. Only problem is that many of those cheap kits don't fit good, and will need to be heavily modifed or need to buy many new parts.
I also have a 2013 corolla s, and I was thinking about getting the Borla exhaust, and coil overs after. Will the exhaust scrape if I drop the car the two inches ?
You should be okay in most places with a smaller exhaust for a NA build. I have a 3" exhaust on my 2009 Corolla Turbo and I have scraped a few times with the 3" exhaust but just barely.
Question... my front bumper actually my carolla seems to be falling apart at least exteriorly what can I do to fix this seems like a common problem with corollas
It seems to be a common issue for these front buyers to crack and not stay on good. Best thing to do would be order a new one, not much you can fix once the plastic starts to either break or were out.
@@DreiiTV the rev9 coilovers were decent for the price. I did have to drill the holes bigger to accept the knuckle bolts. But after that they were great and I had them On my car for over 2 years before my car was totaled. On my new corolla, I installed truharts and they are also good, but I noticed they ride a lot stiffer, but they handle a little better then the Rev9.
Like might car mods did a Toyota yaris with a 2zr turbo build call the yarishilton on a stock bottom end could have also used a super charger for a lotus Elise
Supercharger is almost impossible to get and if you do lots and lots of money.... That was a good episode but they also didn't tune the car poor 2zr blew up

Which is more efficient and not as parasitic as it is in federal and gas so I don't know I'm just a super turbo head but superchargers are cool a lot of people are just scared to turbo the car so they'll do supercharger when I feel like you just cheating yourself
@justinmike2zrfe well the issue with the mighty car mods build is with a turbo they made just as much as a lotus Elise with a super charger but I like twin charging more getting the best of both worlds instant boost at low rpm from the super charger no turbo lag than high boost at high rpm from turbo
Yes yes yes yes yes always safest bet to tune your car after adding big power adder like this...in some of the older cars w air density sensors and not mafs you can get away with it but not anything kinda new

The DC Sports ceramic header is a nice upgrade if you combine it with a CAI and nice cat back exhaust system. This would be for a NA build.

This kit might fit the 1.6L, The biggest thing to check is the turbo manifold, and make sure it will fit the engine.

Lol wish I had the xrs in manual. My motor has 197k and I put the turbo on it like 3 k to 4k miles ago and it's doing really well
Over mileage on Toyota LMAO he could run a turbo on the stock block and headers and probably still get over 500k out this Corolla
