The Most Super Simple Henna Recipe (Organic)

- This henna recipe uses basic ingredients to create safe and deep staining henna stains!
*This recipe calls for Rajastani Henna Powder since it has a dye release time much faster then other henna powders available, therefore saving you time as well!*
For this recipe you will need:
--50 gms (1/2 cup) Rajastani Henna powder
--25 gms (1/8th cup) sugar
--15 ml (1 tablespoon) lavender essential oil (tea tree, eucalyptus and cajeput can also be used, or in combination as well)
--118 ml (1/2 cup) water (half mixed in at different times)
Instructions:
1.) Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl (ceramic is best).
2.) Pour in about 1/4 cup water, a little at a time, until you reach a thick mashed potato like consistency.
3.) cover with plastic wrap and keep in a warm place like the oven (turned off) with the light turned on for warmth, or under a lamp.
4.) Rajastani henna powder is usually ready in about 6-8 hours, if it's really cold it could take longer. One trick is to put a dot on the palm of your hand for 5 mins and wipe off and if its bright orange then its ready (video to come!)
5.)Add the rest of the water until you reach a toothpaste like consistency and then you're ready to use your henna paste!

I used this recipe and omg girl the sugar ratio is so perfect (even with the high humidity in Georgia)! The henna is completely stuck to the skin and won’t budge or crack during the bend-test ❤️
Urshita Bhagat yay! I am So happy to hear that 😄💕 thank you for letting me know!
Did u use all of the 118 ml water please?
@@farahkhawar5453 I did not use that measurement. I add water as needed and do not measure, sorry. The amount of liquid added typically varies based on location, environment, and personal preference :)
And what about the colour
Is it dark stain

i have tried so many many henna recipes (ofcourse who hasn't :)) but this one is by far the best. i only use less sugar bc of the high humidity here but the henna paste is so smooth glossy and stringy, lo♡e it, so thank you so much. oh yes your henna cone roll video is also the best. both video's simple yet so helpful!
How much essential oils did you use? I can’t believe that I need an entire tablespoon for this recipe, but I am completely new to henna, so I don’t know. I’m trying to get a feel for it all.
Thank you so much this worked
Hey

Just came across your channel and I love it! I have a question about the henna powder, what do I need to do differently if I don't use Rajasthani henna powder? I can't find that where I live :(
Thank you for your reply gopi😊
Thank you for this video so helpful I live in the island of Barbados and it's pretty hot here do you recommend I use the same amount of sugar or more
Very nice
Hi!May I ask you what’s the difference between hair dye henna powder and henna body painting powder? Are they using the same power? It’s so difficult to find henna power for body paining in China. All said for dye hair. Thank you!
Hi i am so excited to see this . I want you question what is jagua method
Thank you for a great video... one question what does adding sugar to the mix do ? Ive never seen that before..thanks in advance
it makes the paste more stringy and helps it retain its shape
Hi! Thank you for sharing this. Can you make a video on how to make a proper cone as well?
Yes! I was actually thinking about filming that today so hopefully will have it up in a day or so :D

Hey Hii Gopi !! A very simple recipe of making Mehendhi I would surely like to try this and see .. I hope this turn out well and Can I ask You something that is can I use anything else instead of Lavender oil ?
eucalyptus or tea tree or cajeput are the only other ones that you can use in place of lavender
Gopi Henna does it stain for long?
@@GopiHenna can i use musturd oil?
Hi Gopi! Just wondering, how many cones did you get from this?
Awesome 👍 where can I find Rajasthan henna plz ??
Thanks
Can you do this recipe without any essential oil.
I'm afraid you can't do henna without essential oils :( if it's bc of alergy maybe you can try to find an oil that you're not alergic to?
Dear Gopi Henna!
I've just been át a henna course, and what i learned there was a bit different: we also added a bit lemon juice, and we used coffee instead of water. We put all the liquid into the mixture before we let it sit.
For me, it wasn't dark enough and it was fading away within a week. It is possible that i made too thin lines or didn't press it well but somehow it wasn't okay. Somehow the cone was strange too. We did it in the same way but from different paper and it is so hard to work with. Please help me. Thank you. If i run out of what's already done i'll try your recipe. 💖
And it was also wet for too long time, maybe that was an other problem. I don't know.
some recipe add lemon but some time lemon make henna fade this recipe is good and coffee will not make it darker add distilled water instead is it wright @Gopi Henna
Where can I purchase the henna powder?
I’m really looking forward to trying this - I have a quest though. When I’ve tried freezing my henna, no matter what ratios, when it thaws it separates. Is there something you do to prevent this? I hate throwing away paste. Thanks!
Why do I wanna eat it😂
In an other video you put lemon juice in it. Could you tell me how much you put in it and for what use it is exactly?
Beautiful, how long can we store the henna cones for?
Hi gopi , u r so sweet. Pl z ans my query. Do we need to keep d paste for 6-8 hours, coz I kept for 15-20 hours n used rajasthni henna . Can we fill d cone instantly after mixing it. Coz in con itself it can release it's die further. Moreover u have not used any acidic thing like tea or lemon which helps henna to release it's dye .
happy moments hi! You can use water, lemon, or tea to release the dye with same results for the color--only difference is with lemon the dye release takes longer. With water the paste can be ready in 6-12 hours depending how warm or cold the room is. Hotter weather will make it ready faster. With lemon it could take 12-24 hours to release. Either way color and longevity is the same. With lemon the paste will look more green as well
Hola! Hay posibilidad que a los tutoriales le dejes subtitulos en español por favor
What if you only have regular sugar could I use that instead btw I have been looking for a long time for an easy henna recipe and I'll try it soon
Yes, as well as maple syrup and i've even heard of molasses, but I do like the texture from sugar, and havnt experimented with the others. Let me know how it goes!
Hi... How to store balance henna paste??? How long can keep once henna mixed? TIA ❤️
I’m trying to get into henna, and this video was so quick and looked so easy! Let u know if I start! Also where did u buy the henna powder?

What could be a replacement for henna? We don't have in my country
Can we use platinum green oil as essential oils
I have two questions please replay, my request
1. How many cones can we make from this henna paste as you shown this measurement in video?
2. Is it give us good result means dark stain? Please 🙏 replay
I wanna ask is white sugar OK or do we need brown sugar and is the essential oil necessary. How do I get the henna in complete powder because I do have some organic henna powder but with small bits of the leaves.
White sugsr is OK. Essential oils are necessary, use lavender, eucalyptus and tea tree EO only. To buy good henna powder, type in google "Buy BAQ henna powder" (BAQ means body art quality) nd buy at least triple sifted powder
Hi Gopi , could you please let me know about the henna powder company and from where do you buy this product ? Thanks
Do you really need to use a whole tablespoon of essential oils? I can’t believe that I need an entire tablespoon for this recipe, but I am completely new to henna, so I don’t know. I’m trying to get a feel for it all. Any help would be appreciated!!
I’m here to check out the same thing, that’s about £10 worth of essential oils (it would make it so expensive to make) and it would smell sooo strong. Did you try it without it? Or substitute it for another oil?
We never use Essential Oils. Instead, we add black Tea (cooked Liquid) and Lemon Juice. Gopi also added Lemon Juice in her Instagram Videos, which is not mentioned here.
Can this paste be stored in the fridge for later use or is it a use all or toss? I only ask cuz that recipe makes alot lol if ur not doing huge designs then its a waste. Unless u can refrigerate it. Just a thought. Great video. I will be making some 🤗
You should cone it up as soon as it's ready, and then you can keep it in the *freezer* for up to 6 months or in the fridge for about 5 days
Is the essential oil necessary for dye release, consistency …. Or it is just for the aroma ?
Yes, it is necessary
Don't you strain it in a stocking after the dye release, before putting it into cones? I have always seen or heard that being an essential step.
thank you for your advice
Is there a different essential oil you can use? Lavender gives me headaches
Hi
Which is the best warm place in the house to leave the henna paste for dye release🤔

Dear from where you ordered your henna powder please can you help me???
Hi gopi henna I have been following you on instagram for a long time love your designs. Now I have a question I tried to make a henna paste with 100 grams of jamila powder. After dye release I have shifted it to some 20 medium sized cones. But I had a requirement of only 6 to 8 cones so I stored remaining cones in freezer. When I take them after 20days or 1 month I could see the lemon juice or EO has come out slightly from the cones and the henna paste didn’t give the stain which it does before. Now what is the problem where am I missing ?
Thats interesting because i've had customers who have bought my cones and have left them in the freezer for a few months and the stain still came out great, This would be something that would happen if you left it in the fridge rather than the freezer. Where are you from and how cold does your freezer get?
@@GopiHenna I am from California... SF
@@anitaswaminathan9515 hello!, 4 years later !😅
it an intersting problem.. did you solve it? and how?
Wher to buy the rajasthani henna powder...plzz rply
I got mine from amazon
I use the same henna. I sift it five times I use all the same ingredients, but I have trouble with dye release. I notice your henna is green mine is dark brown. I let it sit a bit more than 12 hrs. What do you think I maybe doing wrong ?
BAQ (body art quality) henna should always be green! You might have henna powder that is suitable for hair use so there could be other natural powders of herbs and what not in there as well which make it a brown color. You want just pure henna powder with a high lawsone content (dye pigment in henna) to ensure proper dye release and staining ability
Is the essential oil necessary? I’ve got peppermint essential oil. Would that do?
You can omit essential oils but the stain will remain in the orange stage and wont full oxidize to the darker red/brown tones. That's what the EO helps with and unfortunately peppermint isn't one of the EOs that helps. The ones that will improve the stain are: eucalyptus, cajeput, lavender or tea tree. The peppermint you could add a couple drops just for fragrance but it doesn't help the stain as far as I know.
Does the same recipe apply for winter use as well ?
yes
hey Gopi. Whenever I make henna at home, when I apply it, it kind of spreads out on the skin while it's drying. A once thin line becomes a much thicker line, making less and less space between lines. Is there anything I should alter in the recipe to avoid this?
Thanks, love your videos!
Hi, not sure if you got your answer but it sounds like you’re making your paste too runny that’s why it’s smudging. Make the consistency a little thinker (for fine lines and detailed work). Hope that helps :)
I’ve had the same problem before, and it doesn’t always have to do with the actual consistency, but sometimes the wrong sugar ratio for the climate where you live.
It's because of temperature..sugar melts if temp is high
It didn’t stain for me at all even after 2 days but the consistency was perfect. Does it have to be lavender oil? I didn’t use it and I wasn’t sure if this is why?
Which powder? How long did you let it sit out and do you mean you didn’t use any essential oil? Essential oil is needed in henna for body art
Hi , gopi very helpful video you shared , can u please share 100 g henna with Lemon ,water , oil and sugar with write Measurement ?
Hey there! Check the measurements in the description and just double the amount! :)
@@GopiHenna how much lemon juice should I use? Should I mix half water half lemon juice? Or should I just put lemon juice? It’s my first time to make henna paste at home 😊
Either way works as far as stain goes, only difference is if you add lemon juice the time it takes to dye release will be longer depending how much lemon juice you use, the more lemon the longer the dye release so just make sure to do a spot test to make sure it’s ready I have a video on that as well 💖🙌
@@GopiHenna thank you so much for your time and help ❤️🥰
How to buy your henna powder???
How would you know when you’ve added too much sugar?
It will be very sticky difficult to remove even when it's wet .. but if temperature is too high it will be too watery because sugar melts with your hands temp
Hello how are you can someone please tell me what kind of powder to buy for doing henna on hands I’m a beginner and this is all new to me .I shop on Amazon can someone please send me some names so I can buy please
I have made many henna recipes but they doesnt stain so is this because i dont leave it like 6 hours and so ? Or is there any other reason?
What henna powder do you use? Having good body quality henna powder is key, also having good quality essential oils all help in getting good dark colors, but yes leaving the henna on as long as possible at least 6 hours but more importantly is to avoid water on it for the next 12-24 hours
Is that Henna use for the hair or for the skin...?
this recipe is for use on the skin, but you can use the same recipe for hair as well but I would just add a couple tiny drops of essential oil and i wouldn't use any sugar
Can we use olive oil or coconut oil instead of an essential oil ? For most of us who have sensitive skin.
And what is the purpose of adding sugar can it be done without adding sugar?
Adding sugar helps it stay moist and stick better to the skin for longer. Needs to be a certain type of essential oil (needs to have turpens) for sensitive skin try lavender oil!
Can I use any essential oil or does it have to be lavender?
any
No, not any, but you can use eucalyptus, cajeput and tea tred oil
Where's the rest of the instructions? I know there's sifting involved, but is that while it's dry, or after it's thinned? What kind of strainer, and how many times??
My homemade henna paste doesn't last more than 2 days on my skin. What am I doing wrong?
How can you give color to it?
How long can you store it??
Can you sub out the lavender oil for eucalyptus oil?
Samarah Grant definitely!
@gopihenna I made henna seeing the recipe of yours but after applying the henna the henna doesn't dry up and it's very sticky so later I added more henna and it's drying but still not completely and it feel sticky
Why so? can you tell me the mistake ?
Because u put more sugar ...with sugar henna can be silky and smooth and lines don't break but if the temperature isn't right ..then stickiness of sugar will be there
Apu, how long will Mehdi be good like this?
Can I use another oil
Hi dear. If after mixing the oil and we let the henna paste just a little bit covered does it effect the stain?
I just notice in the night i check the stain was so well and dark till morning but i just let the henna paste uncovered and same paste give me dull colour just in 12 hours..
Is that possible or just my own thinking 😬😬
Can you describe more what you by a little bit covered and then not covered? I’m not sure what you mean
@@GopiHenna lets say if we keep the fresh mixed paste uncovered for long hours like 8 to 10 does it effect the colour,?
Traditional Henna Art yes. It dries out and the color won’t be there anymore or as vibrant and strong as it should
And can we use mehndi oil instead of any essential oil?
happy moments it depends what's in the mehndi oil, a lot of times such oil has other chemicals in it so pure essential oil is the best because you truly know what you're putting on your skin which is the best and safest for your clients and yourself! 💕
can we use eucalyptus oil instead of lavender oil?
Yes
Is this the same henna recipe you use today?
Can I use argan oil or coconut oil instead of the lavender?
No
U are my inspiration sissy
Even Indian girls ,will bend their head....such tradionally in Indian way is she put makep....beutifull..
does it have to be raw can i use store-bought sugar from the supermarket
Store bought sugar is raw sugar
Why do you thin out the paste later? What would happen if you made it thin the first time?
Sugar ...is the key ..sugar melts it leaves it's water...
Can you substitute the lavender oil for another kind of oil? Avocado oil or anything else?
You can use eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil if you don’t have lavender oil
How long does henna keep for? I brought some powder (had cones but the henna dried before I could use them)
Do you habe to use the essential oils?
Yes
*can i replace the water with brewed tea?*
I did and the stain came out
Just question hun henna power should be double than sugar right?
Yes, but remember never to exceed the 50g sugar per every 100g henna powder, or your henna will be impossible to work with. The range of sugar per 100g henna goes from 30g (for extremely humid climates) to 50g
Which powder u use??
Can you pls share where do you get henna powder from?
You can buy it at her store just Google gopi henna and go to her website
