  • Maddy and I finally got a rooftop tent a couple weeks ago, so I decided to make a quick video showing the set-up and break down of it. In my opinion, this thing gets an A+ for convenience, along with comfort. Now to find a way to keep some air flowing through it (I've got some idea's in the works)!
    Thanks for watching, have a great day!

      @@suerawley3141 Congrats! I love mine, it’s a 2022 premium. & yeah! I haven’t personally installed any, but I’m looking at upgrading from the stock ones to the Yakima Jet Stream’s, and plan to swap them myself. One of my friends has them, and they look soooo nice! & they’re also a little longer than my current ones are.

      Hey, I’m so sorry I missed this comment! I don’t have a direct link for it, but it’s similar to the Roofnest Falcon Pro. My dad reached out to a wholesaler and got a shipment of them, so I bought one from him.

      Thanks! My parents got had ordered a few from a manufacturer as a trial run, and I bought one from them. So, it’s technically not branded yet, but it’s really similar to a roofnest falcon pro.

    Are your rails rated to hold a rooftop tent? I thought only the wilderness models were able to support the weight of a tent and people?

    • @Morgan.Bentley
      @Morgan.Bentley  6 месяцев назад +1

      @@Squirrel.in.the.wild_13 Yeah, but not by much! I think the dynamic weight holds around 150-60lbs, says don’t go over 170lbs, and static around 700-750 (could be a little off, but I think it’s right around that). My tent weighs around 140, so it’s pretty close, but with my wife + all of our stuff we’re a couple hundred under the static weight still. It’s held up so far, but I was a bit worried at first. I’ve had it a bit over a year now, and it still worries me a bit on longer trips, but it’s held up great so far *knock on wood*

    • @Morgan.Bentley
      @Morgan.Bentley  Год назад +1

      I’m 5’11”ish! One of my friends has a Roofnest Condor XL, and I feel like someone 6’2” would be able to fit that. Idk the dimensions though, so I could be wrong. Mine’s similar to the falcon pro, and I think it would be a little tight. I think you should fit with your head closer to the front, there just wouldn’t be much extra at your feet or head.
      Thanks for watching, and commenting! I appreciate it

    Can you still open the hatch or does it hit the tent?

    • @Morgan.Bentley
      @Morgan.Bentley  5 месяцев назад

      I can still open it, but it does hit the latches that open the tent. It’s left some scuff marks on my car, but not too bad. I should’ve touched on that in this video, but I do show them a little in my year update I posted a couple months ago if you want to see what it’s done so far: ruclips.net/video/PqgVP-r00BM/видео.htmlsi=mW71d0JhXB1HZXqp

      I got it from my dad, and it actually doesn’t even have a brand on it. It’s similar to the roofnest falcon pro though. I’m using the stock Crosstrek crossbars for it, and they’re worked so far, but don’t fit perfect (planning to make an update video soon). It’s just at that width where it’s sort of on the clasps that hold the crossbars on. & you’re welcome! Hope that helped some

      Hey! Thanks for watching!! This one actually doesn’t even have a brand. It’s similar to the roofnest falcon pro though.
      I will say, my crossbars are a little narrow, so the latches for the tent are a little close to where they connect. It’s worked for me so far though! With cross bars that sit up and extend another inch or two, it would be absolutely no issue! Hope that helps some!

    what kind of an impact did this have on your MPG's?

    • @Morgan.Bentley
      @Morgan.Bentley  8 месяцев назад

      Without the rooftop tent I typically got 28-34mpg, then with I get 26-32ish. However, I recently got new, more aggressive tires and this did a lot more to the mpg than the tent. With the more aggressive tires and the tent, it averages 22 - mid 27 now. I don’t think I’ve got 28 since putting them on, and before the tent and tires I didn’t get under 28. 100% worth imo though!
