I'm with you, Winston. During my nearly 20 years in China, many rich people warned me about poor people - that they would cheat me if I treated them fairly. I found quite the reverse. Most rich people I knew were always cheating - almost like a sport or pathological compulsion. And the poor - like bike repair guys would often do little things for free! One time I actually haggled with a bike repairman - except I was pushing the price up and he was pushing it down!!

I took a girl to a restaurant and she pulled the same thing. Treated the wait staff like crap and was just nasty. I Did not finish the meal. I payed and told her I'm out. Find a ride home. And did it in front of the staff. Best thing I ever did.

Damn straight. I worked at a Taco Bell in high school and there were three sisters they were older Hispanic ladies and they played zero games with peoples attitudes. And what they would do to the burritos of assholes almost makes you wish they just spit in it cause with saliva at least you can rest easy it’s basically water….but when you pop a zit into something, even though it’s minuscule in comparison to the amount of spit you could produce on command there is something about the solid nature of puss and compared to the more liquid state of saliva. And there is no knowing. At the drive through Mexican joint down the road from this Taco Bell I worked at they ended up on the news cause some employee was ejaculating into people burritos and yea that’s disgusting but I’ve wondered the past 10 years how that man was able to produce so much semen and how he got away with Uhm 😶 manufacturing(?) it.
Bullying service people is really one of the most disgusting things someone can do, in my opinion. It really shows someone's character, how they treat someone that they have power over.

I had a similar experience in Thailand while dating a girl from a wealthy family who was Thai-Chinese. She spoke perfect English and was beautiful, kind, and sweet (to me at least) and we got on great. She could have bought and sold me ten times over but it didn't seem to bother her and I really liked her until spending a few days in her hometown, Hat Yai. The way she treated people and her attitudes towards the poor really turned me off and it was embarrassing for me at times. We would pull up at a restaurant in her Mercedes and she would immediately get on the horn, demanding staff come outside and organise for other people to move their cars so we could park. She was just so abusive I couldn't believe it. One night we walked into a crowded bar and she started yelling at the staff, demanding they find a table for us and eventually a table full of locals were moved away so we could sit down; I was too embarrassed to make eye contact with anyone. Another time she had to pick something up for her father from a local factory. She pulls up next to the security booth and started yelling at the guard, and eventually after several trips back and forth the guard had delivered a bunch of small packages. I asked her why not just bring it all at once and she told me that she only asked for the items one at a time because people like him are too stupid to remember two things at once. The final nail in the coffin came when we were driving past some small rubber plantations. She explained to me that local farmers - at the time at least - were getting really good money for rubber and pointed out new houses they were living in and the nice cars they were driving. I thought that's great for the farmers, but it definitely wasn't an attitude shared by her. She explained to me how wrong it was that these, stupid, uneducated, lazy farm people could earn a good living, which made it difficult for her family to find enough workers for their factories, so they now had to offer better wages and conditions. She was utterly disgusted by these people making a good living. She really seemed to view them as human trash who only existed to benefit the wealthy.

China turned me into the worst possible version of myself when I lived there. You can't be nice. You just can't. The whole environment pushes you to disregard, and in my case, just despise everyone else. Hold a door for someone? As you said, everyone just takes advantage. You're the doorman now, and no one even thanks you. Need to get off the bus or the train because you're coming on your stop? No amount of polite asking will get anyone to move and inch. You have to start shoving people if you don't want to miss your stop. And that's just basic navigation. Never mind the constant scams people are trying to pull, or the terrible food safety.

Here in the Philippines, there was this Chinese woman who went viral and got into local news years ago due to what she did. In our country eating food at the platforms and inside a our metro trains is not allowed. The Chinese girl at the time was carrying and eating Taho(a warm Tofu like snack) while entering the platform. A guard told her it was not allowed, the Chinese girl in rage threw the Taho at the guard. To make the long story short, due to what she did she was deported and ban from entering the country.

I'm guessing there is a very good reason for that rule: if food were allowed, some would accidently spill, and that would be food for rats so they'd be a bigger problem. (I have a relative in New York City. Rats are a big problem. Just look at Trump :-) )
OMG! This is so true! My first visit to Shenzhen. My sister in law was nearly nine months pregnant at the time. We were waiting for the train to arrive. She told me, "Stand right there on the platform, and when the door opens you rush in and grab me a seat". At that moment I was actually standing at the platform, first in line thinking I got this. By the time the train pulled up, I was surrounded by pushing and shoving Chinese people of all genders and ages, pushing and jostling for position. Old ladies were trying to crowd me out. When the door finally did open up, it was tons worse than any Wal-mart Black Friday sale I had ever seen. I am not a small guy, yet those little people around me were friggin animals. They pushed me around like a little kid. And I didnt get a seat for her. Every person on that car (and it was packed full) noticed a pregnant women standing there, and could give two shits about. So after that, on the next train ride back to Hong Kong, same thing going in. Only this time I was bad ass Dick Butkus. I pushed and elbowed a clear path for her and got her a seat. I would hate to have to live my life that way. So long China, I have never been back.
Their One Child policy and the accompanying "family planning by violence" has seen the rise of a couple of generations who dont see human life as valuable. That scares the shit out of me.
I work in the service industry in America, I clean carpets in high end office buildings, I'm in the offices of CEOs and executives every night, sometimes they work late and I run into them. I have had amazing conversations with these people. They make 10 times my salary and they ask me about myself, my hobbies, if I like my job, if my pay is enough, they want to know if my company treats it's people well, and they are always appreciative of my work. They always thank me and most of them shake my hand no matter how dirty it is. I never feel like I'm lesser. Most people in America view each other as equal even if they make more and drive a nicer car. I used to do outside sales at my company and would network and go to luncheons and dinner parties all the time with wealthy executives and they were always so nice to the waiters and restaurant staff, they always left huge tips. And these are the supposed evil capitalists that look down on the working class

These conversations happen later in the evening while the executive is working late and nobody else is around. Most of them started as entry level employees and slowly worked their way up. I agree 100%. I married into a family in which my husband grew up sleeping in one bed with 5 people in a house with a single room. They were humble back then. Fast forward 13 years from 1990 to 2003. They were now nuevo rich. They suddenly felt just fine treating workers horribly. It was awful. I was so embarrassed traveling around with them. I kept thinking: Have you forgotten where you came from? I guess so.
That's what we call in french "parvenus" it's a word to qualify that exact behaviour. People who are happy to put down others once they themselves have success. And often, those who act like this have succeded out of luck, not because they have talent or worked hard. Those who have talent are often humble.

I think it is also how they were raised and how one has perspective of the world too. My family been through lots of up and down in my country. Then when we moved to the U.S. We started all over but we always stay humble and know our root. I have seen many poor people who have become suddenly rich forget their past. Probably they think money is most important to do what you want to do in life and so tried to make money by taking advantage of others so they still do not care or take into consideration for others. The problem here with Myanmar generals who are now taking the leadership positions are the same too. Since they are rankers rising from privates, when they get power they mistreat their own staff because this is how they were treated before becoming to that level. When they get top leadership role, they think they are small god or kings and want people to worship them.

One relative knows a guy worth at least 65 million likely more and said you'd never realise. There's actually PILES of stories here of people worth millions getting kicked out of BMW dealerships. One guy and his brother owned huge coal mines. They wouldn't let him sit in a small BMW and kicked him out basically calling him poor because of how he was dressed. His and his brothers mines were valued that year for tax reasons. 274 million dollars.
As an American I get so pissed seeing people mistreat others in the service industry. I don't work in it myself because I know what its like but I still respect them.

Service sector, blue collar and other physical work like emergency services and the military is probably the only type of work I have explicit respect for. Anything that's hard on the body deserves credit, bonus points if it's stressful on the mind as well, then you're an absolute machine for doing it.

2 experiences of dealing with Rich Chinese. My mother being assistant director at Eurotunnel and some high profile Chinese execs turning up - behaved like exclusive VIP and expecting nothing but Chinese food and be served. Me being assistant director for a summer school, and them rich Chinese kids and their assistants expecting full Chinese food catering and be treated like royalty - they had to be put back in their place, told they were students exactly like the other students, blend in if you don't like it, leave and go back to your country.
Here in Vegas I was working at a women's clothing store called Bebe in a tourist heavy area and was ringing up this Chinese tourist. Time to pay she threw the money in my face, I calmly picked up her money bill by bill and folded it neatly, walked to the entrance door and threw her money out into the crowd. Walked back up to her and told her she can leave now. Played out about as well as you think lol, manager wasn't in that day so amazingly I didn't get fired but it was a seasonal job so I was only there other week anyways lol.
I agree with you 100%. I lived in China for 15 years and it sickened me to see the service workers treated poorly. I always engaged them. Loved speaking with them. Never saw them as less than me.
Okay this makes COMPLETE sense to me. I used to work in a grocery store here in the UK, and Chinese students would very often just walk straight into me and genuinely make my job more difficult than it would already be for seemingly no reason. I wont lie, I felt guilty that I was stereotyping, but it was every single person who would shop in my store. This video contextualizes my experience perfectly
My first exposure was a Turkish restaurant close to the Chinese embassy in Berlin. Sometimes you would see what I guess were embassy staff walk in, demanding to be able to inspect the grilled chickens just to then comment loudly in front of everyone that the quality was not to their standards and they left. When I was younger things like this puzzled me ... then I went to China... I have to add though that a two year stay in Hong Kong also taught me that you shouldn't really generalise. There were worlds in between Hong Kong and Shenzhen ....
Years ago I went with a Chinese girlfriend to Sears to help her find some furniture but no one was manning that area so I had to go find someone to help. After a bit of a wait someone finally came and I thought great, now we can get on with ordering what she wanted, but instead my girlfriend proceeded to lecture this low level employee for 15 minutes about our having to wait and the store not having the area manned. It dawned on me that if she treated this person this way, it was only a matter of time before she did the same to me.
I don't get why some people can't just think that there may be a staff shortage or that staff are busy. It's not just some Chinese people, there's that bad and entitled behavior in every country. There's a video about what the Dutch think of Americans. And some people, including some Americans, stereotype Americans as rude too. Such as some American tourists expecting the world to know English. The reverse happens too. Some migrants to English speaking countries expected people to know their language too.

My friend told me an old Chinese woman walked up her driveway into her yard and picked tomatoes off her plants. I saw one in Walmart take a whole ream of plastic bags off the register turnstile that the worker had just placed there and walk towards the exit. They had to run after her and stop her. It's like they're under the impression that their behavior is acceptable and if no one stops them they do what they want.
Hence why most public toilets don't have toilet rolls inside; you've got to take your own. And in some places, you've got to scan a QR code with your phone to get a limited supply from a dispenser.
That's literally it. They have no manners. They do not care about anyone else around them. I was just at the DMV in California two days ago and there was three lines to get in. A line for people with appointments, a line for no appointments, and a line for vehicle registrations only. Chinese mother and son came in and looked around.... And then just pushed their way all the way to the front of the line and the woman told the DMV person they were here for his driving test. The DMV lady told her Appointment? And she said no. The DMV person told her to go to the back of the blue line. The Chinese woman looked back, walked like three steps back with her son and just started trying to squeeze in the line and hahahahahahahah this sassy old black lady IMMEDIATELY said "UHHHHH HELLLLL NAAAAAAWWWW YOU GOTTA GO TO THE BACK, NOWWWWW!" and the Chinese lady just looked at her and turned back around BAHAHAHAHAH there's no way in hell that Chinese woman didn't know that what she was attempting to do was messed up, at the very least it should have been obvious to her, assuming she's been in this country for any length of time, HOW LINES WORK! I had no sympathy as she got yelled at by like ten different people because she wouldn't move and the DMV person finally had to intervene and went up to her and told her to get to the back of the blue line..... Well...... She saw the green line (vehicle registration) was WAAAY shorter so she got in that line. 😅 And at that moment the DMV person just looked over at the person in charge of registrations and told him DO NOT HELP THAT WOMAN SKIP THE LINE SHE'S PRETENDING TO BE DUMB OR SOMETHING 😂hahahahahahha had me dead and that's nothing, I recently went to Disneyland and in line for Space Mountain, a Chinese couple and their kids attempted to cut the line as well, just like nonchalantly trying to stand in front of people and they got yelled at, and then like ten minutes later the woman picks her kid up, PULLS HIS PANTS DOWN, AND SITS HIM ON A PLANTER AND THE KID STARTED TAKING A 💩 !!!!! BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHHHHAAAAA needless to say, another sassy black lady saved the day she immediately got out of line and went and got security who pulled the couple and their children out of line and had a Disney crew member who spoke Chinese showed up quickly and had a full blown screaming match with the woman, it was soooooo bad but so funny
I’m an American living in Thailand for the last 4-5 years. This is my second time living near Bangkok and I spent a year teaching in Seoul. Your videos are fascinating to me as I am a California licensed teacher who has taught online to Chinese students and been offered several very high paying positions in China. I’ve been intrigued, but always had a red flag in my mind about China. Thailand and Korea have similar cultural issues, many seem to be influenced by China. Yet, your stories make me really hesitant to consider China as a work option. Foreign teachers may not be paid as well here in Thailand, but the lifestyle seems much more laid back than the nonsense you describe happening in China. Being an immigrant is always a challenge and at times frustrating, no matter where you’re from or where you are, but China just seems to be a non-stop chore.
My sentiments EXACTLY!! I was going to teach in China, I mean complete with closing my business down at the end of the year and basically moving my whole world and life from US to China. This has completely changed my plans, because I know me, and between this and the spitting and the bumrushing masses, it's a no-go on that. My business and clients are happy that I am staying, though. I like my kindness, compassion, and lovely personality, I do not want it to change because I move to another country voluntarily. It was a culture shock for me when I had to take a business trip to Shanghai and I saw the wealth gap and this mistreatment of people. I described it to friends as a high-tech 3rd world. Ferraris dodging bikes. 50 story buildings with entire sides covered in LCD panels running video and at the base, dirty toothless women with babies begging for money. And I am not talking about a couple. I am talking about hundreds of them and everywhere. I was staying at a really nice hotel. I arrived late in the evening so I dumped my bags and went down to the bar. I sat at a table by myself and watched stunned as every table treated the waitress like absolute garbage. Half of the people there were from Japan so I thought maybe it was a racial thing. After a couple weeks there I realized it was a Class thing and what I had seen was local businessmen showing their clout in front of visiting businessmen from Japan. No matter where I went I saw people with money treating people 'below' them like dogs. Whether it was shopping or bars or restaurants, the more nicely someone was dressed, the more unbearable they were to anyone they were interacting with. Treatment of others was bad as well. As was mentioned, it is almost a necessity to set aside a part of your humanity in order to function there. You have to push your way on or off subways or buses or you will never get anywhere. No holding doors for people. I held an elevator door for a woman and six more people pushed in. I had to take the next elevator and they didn't care. You have to be aggressive standing in line anywhere or people will just push in front of you. It was really sad. I loved getting to see the old gardens and ancient temples. However, once my business there was done, there was never a place that I have been more happy to leave.

I have a close friend that married a woman that Immigrated to the USA from Japan. He was on a visit with her back to Japan and encountered Chinese tourists while shopping. Several of these tourists attempted to cut in a long line to pay for items. The Japanese shoppers were allowing it as if it was normal. My friend is a typical New Yorker from Staten Island. Needless to say, the Chinese tourists were placed back in line. His wife told him later this was a normal experience and that the average Japanese have an acute disdain for Chinese tourists. She also stated that it was very normal for the wealthier Chinese to come to Japan to shop because they were seeking items in Japan that could only be bought in China as counterfeits.
I have seen worse behaviour with people from other cultural background especially from the West. There dressed inappropriately. Lots of drunkards fighting in the streets, threatening innocent bystanders and you don't feel safe without fearing getting mugged.
@@carolflower8015 When I was a lowly shop girl, we had a group of Japanese men that would come in about twice a year. They would run me ragged, back and forth... and sometimes just stop in the middle of the store right in front of me, just to make me walk around them. They were terribly rude and quite sexist.
We saw a waitress crying the other night when my husband and I went out to eat. She didn’t want to tell us what happened but finally (after we bugged her) we found out that the rowdy guys that had been sitting close to us had skipped out on their bill plus they had harassed her the whole time they were there. She said her boss would take the cost of their meal out of her paycheck. My husband went and paid those guys check and gave her a tip on top of it. She was astonished that we did that but I have been a waitress when I was younger and in college. I hated it. It was the most thankless job I’ve ever had in my life. I know there are so many waiter’s and waitresses that are good at their job and love it but I absolutely hated it. We did that for the waitress because we wanted her to know that there are awful people in the world but there are also kind, decent people. I don’t care how much money I have I will never treat anyone less than. Not the janitor at the school and not the waitress in a sports bar. You should treat others with dignity unless they mistreat you or someone else. That lady crying at the car broke my heart. This explains so much. I don’t know if you’ve ever been on a (European or American) cruise, but the Chinese guests will push past queues, jump in the elevator you’ve been waiting for, take waaaay too much food at the buffet etc. It’s deeply unpleasant.
I often go to Cancun. The Chinese people totally fill their plates with food overflowing and take like 5 desserts and their small children go to the buffet by themselves and do the same. Then after eating maybe 25% of what they take, they get up and walk out. It all goes in the trash. They are oblivious.

@15:00 I’ve noticed this same issue happening here in America! It’s not between classes however, it’s between cultures - culture that values politeness & decorum and culture that does not. It’s disheartening and definitely knocks the pleasantries out of you after a while.
I worked at Sydney Univercity where Chinese studentsfrom China are the majority of students & I have to say I was shocked at their bad behaviour, the level of rudeness was astounding.
I was in highschool and most of the female Chinese foreign exchange students were nice. Some of the Chinese boys though were rude and thought we were stupid. Not all of them, but some
I've been told that a substantial amount of Chinese students in Australia are there because they couldn't get into a Beijing Uni and instead of being seen sending their child to a 'lesser' uni their wealthy parents send them to a foreign western uni which holds its own kind of prestige regardless of the uni itself.
me and my brother almost knocked down a Chinese family over seas on holiday. we where waiting in a line to get breakfast and they just came out of no wear and sort of shoved us aside and started being super rude. it caught us off guard because we never seen anything like that before and the way they talked to the breakfast guy pissed me off but unfortunately for them they are all like 4ft3. so the next day me and my brother waited for them and did what they did the day before but almost shoved them to the floor then gave them a look of disgust and tipped the guy serving breakfast and apologised to him but it seemed to make him smile but the look on that family's face ill never forget.

I was working in Egypt about 4 or 5 years ago going to new dig sites to get archaeological experience for my under grad. While I had some time off I went to the valley of the kings to experience the gorgeous tombs cut into the rock. While I was there I saw a Chinese man reach up and pick some of the paint off the wall of a 3,000 year old tomb. I just about lost my mind. I dragged him out of the tomb threw him in the sand and started screaming at him about what he was doing. The guards came over and I explained to them and they kicked him out but the whole time it’s like this guy had no clue what he was doing wrong. HE WAS DESTROYING HISTORY and he said “I just wanted to know if it was real” it’s just unbelievable
Nice one.. Was a Paris Airport and these 2 Chinese suits deliberately jumped the queue bit by bit. We all watched as they rudely nipped in. But polite westerners observed but action at Airport security was not what the wise wanted. So. Observed them later at duty free with bags of fags and booze. Big smiles of triumph. I felt sorry for them. Seriously sorry. They also made me think about things a lot deeper. Thanks to the Chinese 😊
I live in Las Vegas and there were a group of chinese people in front of the Mirage Casino Hotel. They pushed themselves through to the fence where the volcano goes off (with flames )and just ignored me and my family like we were not even there. They seem to have no awareness of others and only cared about themselves.
Most of them are CCP agents, get ready when they take over America and our police force protects them over us. Americans will be arrested by their police so China is able to take us over. Look at Covid and cops arrest church goers and restaurant owners. Sad times.

Tell you what, it’s even more likely for them to do that to their fellow Chinese people abroad, because it’s somewhat easier for them to push around fellow Chinese people than Americans. I was at Flamingo hotel eating my fish & chips meal on a patio. It was pretty busy, and a group of Chinese tourists just surrounded my table and shout around each other about my order of food, how much does it cost, how soon will I leave, etc. They want a table, but they don’t dare to invade the space of any American tourists, they think I am an easier target and it’s easier this way to annoy me off so they can have my table. So I finished my meal, and I intentionally spread the residues to the table and the ground. They grab my chair even before I left the table, and I watched from a distance of seagulls constantly bothering them by picking up residues 😂
My Chinese wife kind of warned me of the lack of manners in China before I visited. It was astounding. For instance, one thing I didn't know at the time and it really hit home was that, If somebody stops in the street in the UK, people will politely queue behind them. It's a very British thing. Something Brits are proud of. But in China, Queue at your peril. They simply don't know the meaning. First come, first serve. Push, shove, i'm before you. I felt that no one was aware of or had any respect for anyone else around them. The other thing was shouting "Foreigner!" (in chinese) at the top of their voices whenever I was spotted in a street. Something i've never experienced or ever done myself in any other country i've visited. Really strange and slightly annoying. As for the "wealth is power" thing. I have seen that a lot in a few different places. People just act like dicks because what else have they got to worry about. But generally, it is curbed in the west as 3rd parties tend to step in and give them a good hiding for behaviour like that. No longer does the "Do you know who I am?" thing work with these people because they could potentially be eating fist before the sentence is over. Disrespecting people of lower financial standing is just disgusting and scummy. Maybe that doesn't happen in the east.
@@faye891 I once told my wife i'd be prepared to live in China when I retired. I've since redacted that statement. I was in North east China. Majority of Chinese people are good (I guess much like any other country) but I was married there and a policeman was assigned to me. I was never told this would happen. I found the food to be a real mixed bag. Building Health and safety was non-existent during construction. No international internet. Government personnel were A-holes and totally unhelpful. Zero wildlife. No modern headache tablets! The local pharmacy told me to drink an infusion of some herbal rubbish and if it didn't cure my headache in 10 days, return and try something else. I really expected a few thousand years of amazing history but it felt very eastern european. It was an amazing adventure but not one i'd care to repeat. It just felt like a huge backward step.

@@shsu7426 It's strange and sad isn't it. These problems probably start with children's education and stick with them their whole lives because they don't know any better. Without labelling (and being to harsh to the average Chinese citizen) one might call them Uncivilised. But I feel that is because they simply have next to zero outside influence so it ends up in a self sustaining loop of weird and awkward behaviour to many people outside, looking in. What I find very odd is that just across the water in Japan, the absolute polar opposite in social behaviour occurred. As far as manners and etiquette go, I found Japan to be the most advanced on the planet in that respect. And I truly felt that if I could, i'd move to Japan with all of it's cultural complexities. Kind of my soul-country. My Chinese mother-in-law was amazed at the freedom our son had. She said in China, children are made to study dawn to dusk every day. And I can imagine it would mostly be false information about the west and how great Mao was. China is like the weird man that locks all the children in the cellar and tells them the world has ended.

@@midnightteapot5633 Same here - even though Taiwan is as much of a capitalist society as China, you will see that people there have not lost their ways the same way I experienced in Shenzhen -> although I have to stress that Shenzhen seems to be one of the worst examples in China. I've never experienced that level of rudeness in other parts of the country.
Yeah, Taiwan rules! I was raised in North America, but born in Taiwan. Went back to Taiwan as an adult for the first time since I was an infant a few years ago, and wow, such a great experience and the people are kind and definitely different than everything I read about people from mainland China. Unfortunately, my grandma would act fairly entitled and would treat servers pretty horribly.
From 1998 to 2001 I made several week to a couple months long trips to China for my job. I was testing software and computer systems that my company sold to Chinese oil companies and installed on site. The oil company execs had several banquets for us celebrating progress milestones during our work. I noticed the rude way waitresses and other low level workers were treated. The waitress were never thanked, even though they were very good at their jobs. I always said thank you in my best "cher shi" or "xi xer" Mandarin I could muster. I even spoke to them by their names when I could. I noticed the locals, especially the oil company officials, noticing my politeness. One of my American colleagues gave me a "stop that" look several times. I could tell the waitresses appreciated it because they were more cheerful around me than they were around the Chinese. The oil co. employees attempted to take turns "being polite" with me by going one-on-one with the toasts, "Ganbei". I don't remember the name of the liquor, but it was clear and to me it tasted like kerosene. I turned my shot glass upside down so that it would only hold a small amount of liquor in the concave well on the bottom. They told the waitress to turn it over before filling it. They were trying to get me drunk. She filled only the bottom well as I asked. I had already witnessed this one-on-one trick being used to get my colleagues very drunk. I held my ground and did not buy into their game. At the end of this particular banquet I spoke to one of the English speaking waitresses. I proposed a toast to the waitresses and cooks and invited all of the waitresses to participate (all at once). I took a full shot this time for them. The waitresses were very happy to have been included. To my surprise, and even more so to my colleagues' surprise, the Chinese (CCP members) oil company officials seemed to admire my gumption as they treated me with great respect later.

I used to go regularly to a Chinese warehouse/store here in the UK ,and the staff were very nice and polite. Slowly over the years I saw a shift in the Chinese staffs attitude towards the English customers (Their business was mostly wholesale to take- away restaurants) So I stopped going. But recently a friend asked about it as she had never been, so I took her and OMG I have never felt so uncomfortable. We were totally ignored at the fish counter until we just gave up and moved away, then my friend asked another staff member a question and he gave a very curt and unhelpful reply...then called out very loudly (In Chinese) to another member of staff who looked at us and burst out laughing. It was horrendous and I will NEVER, NEVER step foot in that place again.........even if I was starving!!
Same thing happened to me and a friend from Germany in San Fran. We went for a bite to in in a small local restaurant. We walked in and a few workers were sitting at a table chopping food others walking around. No one acknowledged us at all. Not to say, 'we are not open, or we are on lunch please come back'. Nothing. They just looked at us like we were ghost or a look of hostility. I was so embarrassed. My German friend brings it up all the time. I should have yelped a bad review but to be honest I was in shock, and still am.

We live in a multi cultural society so we are all used to interacting with many nationalities, and I go in shops and stores for commercial transactions not to make friends or be treated like royalty, but I do give and expect to receive basic politeness and common courtesy.
You have solved a mystery that has haunted me for over a decade. I live near Yellowstone national park, very popular among the chinese, and whenever we travel and stay at nearby hotels there inevitably are Chinese tourists staying as well. I have had chinese vacationers steal Belgian waffles many times at the free continental breakfasts. I had just assumed they're super rude people without western boundaries. I go through the trouble of filling a cup with batter and pouring it in the waffle iron only to have someone swoop in and take my waffle as the timer goes off, and before I can retrieve it. Has happened dozens of times and had me perplexed, it even became a joke among family and friends.
This makes me sad. I guess you have to stand there and guard your waffle, LOL. Have never heard of this before. Chinese people (both living in the U.S., in Taiwan, and PRC) have always been very decent and kind, in my experience.
Dude! Are you saying you were standing right in front of the waffle machine and they pushed you aside and took it? Or you mean you left it a bit, not guarding it& they took it. A buddy of mine married a women from China. My buddy basically had to break her of that poor attitude she had towards service workers. It was seriously like he was breaking a wild horse. She had to learn a whole new mindset. It was a struggle for her but she eventually came around and she is a great person now.

That explains a lot of my college years…I wondered a lot why the Chinese exchange students were such assholes to everyone around campus and intentionally broke things in front of janitorial staff. The Chinese students born in the US were very embarrassed because some people associated them with the exchange students.

The supermarket where I lived once had corn on sale at a very low price. They had to have been losing money on it. When I walked into the supermarket, I immediately saw a large crowd of Chinese people surrounding a large box of corn. They were pealing the husks off and throwing them on the floor. That was so that the corn weighed less and they saved a few pennies. It was such a disgusting site, that I just left the supermarket and went to another one.
The price for that behavior in a western country is that everyone will see you as that outcast village idiot. And it's definitely not worth the price of a few corn husks. That a group of ordinary Chinese are shamelessly trying to save a few pennies in that way is scary.
Those fools. The husk makes the corn taste better if you grill it with the husk on. lol I guess if that's not how they plan to cook it, I can understand removing the husk before buying, but throwing it on the floor is just uncouth and should frankly get them kicked out.
I love that you included the video where the Chinese tourists were removed from the hotel. I live in Sweden and read about the incident. Swedish people know absolutely nothing abut China. It wouldn't surprise me if half the population doesn't even know it's not a democracy. When swedish people saw the unruly people rejected from the hotel, they figured they might have been drunk or mentally ill and thought nothing of it. When the CCP warned citizens of traveling to sweden, the swedish people was so confused. Such a culture shock.
Most do know how bad China is. The approval, rating and trust in China is at its lowest point ever. The official China/CCP BS is not liked by Swedes. The Confucius institutes were closed by Sweden, hardly any kids want to learn Mandarin in school anymore, there’s countless of articles in the media almost daily since many years about all the shit and threats China is doing. China and it’s embassy in Stockholm has threatened Swedish journalists and that is a matter of national security. The case of Gui Minhai (Chinese: 桂民海), the Chinese-born Swedish book publisher and writer who was kidnapped in Thailand by the CCP in 2015 and is kept in some dungeon in China, is an other huge beef Sweden has with China. Even the police in the short clip were laughing because the Chinese people acted so ridiculous, the Chinese turned up the wrong day and the hotel or hostel had to call the police because they refused to leave.
Yea not exaggerating at all.. I remember that incident very clearly and we had a good laugh about it for a month. Most people know about China, it's just that swedes are lazy and don't wanna be bothered by that dump. The incident was covered on svenska nyheter aswell where they ran an analysis on what was going on. Before that there were talks about whether we should include Taiwan on their maps or not and that was also a joke for a while. Stop generalizing.
Swedish people are so friendly. I used to date a Swedish lady. Even police officers are so friendly. Haha some stunning pretty hot female police officers in Sweden. You almost feel “lucky” to get handcuffed by hot Swedish police. 😂😂😂 You should travel to Taiwan. I find Taiwanese people are also very friendly. Sorry to say it's a simular situation here in Australia with a lot of the Chinese nationals. I'm a tradie and fell in to working for a lot of Chinese, many of them were horrible and argue the price so I ended up just refusing the work, it wasn't worth the pain for me and my staff.
Unfortunately there are a hundred scum bags ready to be abused by these human trash cans for a buck . Until they are ostracised from society they will continue to treat their host country like shut .
I have caught on multiple occasions while working in my field, Indians vandalizing their utility meters to get free services. It never works and they always talk down to you. I have ran across my fair share of nice ones though.

The amount of wealthy Chinese who have been buying up here and taking over suburbs and living life as if it was still China; absolute arrogance / pompousness of these people is overpowering the Aussie spirit of welcoming, tolerance and giving everybody a chance. As someone who worked in the service industry during Covid-19 it was a little ray of freedom. First time ever I was able to tell rude customers that they could eff off and when they complained to corporate the managers did nothing because they were desperate for workers! It was a magical time.
I don’t even work in the service industry, and I wish service workers could treat customers exactly how the customers are treating the workers. Hearing stories like this makes my day.

This was definitely something I experienced in China. Especially as a foreigner, they assume you have money...and certainly by comparison, even as a broke college student, I did... I experienced a lot of friendly, and genuinely kind service, especially buying street food and produce. But the staggering poverty is everywhere. My heart goes out to the gas attendant. 💔
So what would happen if someone retaliated against that behavior? Like what if the driver of the car behind got out, walked up to the window of the lead car, ripped the guy out of and began mercilessly beating him?
I'm sure you can guess that during my 10 years living and working in China I came across multiple examples of this It is endemic. I also noticed that it was mostly practiced among the nouveau rich classes or by those who wished to give the impression that they had money. My students at the university were at first astounded when I explained that the two most important words in English are " Please & Thankyou" as they are hardly used in Chinese and are especially missing when talking to someone considered inferior in status to one's self.
It's funny that you say that as please and thank you are two of the first words I taught my child. I've never thought about a society that wouldn't use good manners and social respect as a goal.

Of course you get good and bad in every race, colour and creed. My overwhelming experience has been positive and I'd recommend Australia to anyone. Bless you after sneezing is just a weird religious superstition which I find personally creepy and brings attention to someone just doing a natural bodily function, hence why people end up stifling their sneezes. Just let people sneeze.
I live in an area in Southern California with a very large number of Chinese immigrants and most of them need to make the effort to assimilate to American culture that every other group has always made in generations past. Unfortunately assimilation is not only not promoted for the obvious reasons regarding social cohesion, but many on the Left actually think assimilation is wrong and it’s clear that they are the ones that are wrong.
Actually that rings true in my experience. I took a Chinese friend to nice, hip restaurant in New York to show her an authentic local spot. She had a very expensive camera she wanted to show off, and started taking pics of people, got up and totally invaded their privacy. When a waitress politely told her to stop, she all but screamed at her, like yelling at a dog, insisting she can do what she wants. Pretty embarrassing! Luckily it was not a date. I was just helping a friend out, who had this person visiting from China…
I use to go to an Irish pub in Germany. The bartender is an Irish guy. One evening there was two rude Germans talking bs for a while and then complained why the bartender was speaking English in an Irish pup… I got to their table and said if they not go now willingly I will force them to leave. The bartender said to me that he used to hate Germans but with me he will make an exception😅
This is why as Chinese-American, I always try to be as kind and polite as possible to anyone up front, so they don't assume I'm the same kind of rude, badly educated(in etiquette), loud and annoying tourist group that gives all Chinese people a bad rep.
I was disappointed with how my Uncle treated people in China during his tourist trips, he was told due to the fact he has millions of dollars. That he can freely treat the civilians with the worst attitude, yet receive no consequences about it. He recorded videos of himself disrespecting rural villagers, elders, homeless people & shop owners, etc. I seen a side of him I wish I knew about a lot sooner, he bragged about how satisfying it was to assert his dominance. It's heartbreaking.

We spent 3 months in Wuxi building a manufacturing facility. We stayed in the International Hotel which was very nice. We witnessed a HUGE range of difference in how people treated the staff based on their nationalities. We were always kind, patient, talked to the staff, joked with them and eventually we had a core group that would attend to us solely. When we left, we had the entire wait staff gather around us, shake our hands, take pictures, and wish us well and it wasn't because we did anything different, I believe it was because we treated them well and respected them. I was proud to leave a good impact as an American.
In fact, many dark sides are not shown in the official media. They are indeed better for foreign enterprises, because China’s labor is cheap, and they do not strike. Working overtime without extra pay is normal. Foreigners are comfortable in China for this reason, but if it is Chinese people working, the position is reversed.
I remember hearing stories about the first McDonalds in Moscow and the difficulties they had training the staff to be courteous to the customers. Their attitude was "We have the food so the customer has to be nice to us, not us to them!"

When I arrived in China I would always be carefull when exiting a subway train (i'm a big guy and I am conscious of the space I use) but after a while I have had enough of rude people who would not let me go out before trying to enter the train so I started to just push back like a football player !
Yes I was being pushed and knocked at the subway stations in China. But I automatically always apologize due to habit and the other person would turn to look at me with surprise. When I related this experience at times in some videos, some Chinese would scold me
ugh the first clip made me sooo sad... i studied in the UK and US but my parents didn't immigrate from china. when i went back i would say please and thank you to the wait staff and they would be so surprised (both my family and the staff) because so few people say that. it made me feel really bad like they work hard and dont even get a tiny bit of respect :(
In my experience over my travels around the world, I've made one observation: It's usually the people who have little to nothing, who are the warmest, most hospitable, and friendliest.

I experienced some of this nonsense at Shanhai (ShangXi?) airport pre-departure gate. One of the children of the family in front of me had gone back to get a drink from a vending machine. The rest of the family got through, but the guard wouldn't allow the child through. The cutoff time was 12:00 and the child had arrived back at 12:01. The father was saying "Look, you can let him through. Otherwise it is a disaster for us. One of us will have to stay back with him, and we will have to rebook flights. For what? What is served?". And the guard stepped onto the raised kiosk so he was towering over the man and shouted at him: "I am the boss! You do not talk back to me!" It was a horrible situation, and the family was visibly struck by this cruel and needless ego-trip. I felt like a jew en-route to a concentration camp. Never again will I route any flight via China. I will not be a part of their sad power-play drama. Something is deeply wrong in that culture.
When you're raised in a dog eat Dog environment, you'll take every opportunity to step on the weaker. It's sad but that's the culture they're raised in.

The gas station attendant... As someone who has worked multiple frontline customer service jobs. I have both witnessed and experienced first hand what she went through. Seeing it happen to others always pains me like a dagger through my heart each and every time I see it. Even if i had shaq o'neal levels of money, I could never treat another person like that. Why cant people treat other people with a bit of love and respect. Some people are stuck on the ladder just trying to survive and make it through life on a small wage so they can feed themselves, their family and maybe rent. There is no need to bully them and make their lives harder. absolutely sickening.
I've experienced it working service in America, but I've always been able to defend myself with minimal repercussion. That's what makes the difference... having the ability to punish them with poor service and of your boss doesn't have your back, there are other service jobs.

I worked on a constrction site for a luxury resort off the coast of Australia. The catering was provided as we couldn't leave the island, dozens of Chinese workers were on the project doing the dry-lining. They were ultimately forced to have to eat last because any time they would be allowed to go to the buffet before other workers they would pile their plates so high with food & then never even eat half of it & waste it for everyone else. They would spit indoors and throw litter where ever they fancied; on the floor or straight into the ocean. Once a sea turtle swam into the bay and whilst everyone else was looking on in amazement, the first thing the Chinese workers did was hurl large rocks at it to try and kill it. I honestly don't know how a vast proportion of such a huge race can be such disgraceful human beings.
Bcuz China is not a homogeneous society and the only way to get all the different ethnic ppl to work and fight for the same country is by violent force which is basically like soviet russia and current russia tbh. It's disgusting and it's unbelievable that it's still a reality in 21st century. I remember the day still when my Chinese roommate at university realised what the bribes were about that her parents received. Her parents worked for the government. She was so sad that day. She also knew, at that time and fully, how she was able to attend this university in a foreign country. You have reminded me of that day.
I have had similar experiences. One time my granny cart was falling apart while I was walking in the NYC metro. Two very humble looking Chinese people (boyfriend and girlfriend?) saw my plight and rushed up to help me peice it back together. Conversely, while on a disney cruise I offered to take a picture for a seemingly wealthy young Chinese couple. They practically shewed me away like a fly.
I was in Tokyo for the Golden Holiday Season. Before that, I was amazed with the level of hospitality, kindness and overall respect. People would literally gift me an umbrella when it rained and others would come run after me and hand it back, when I left it on the subway seat. All of that changed when the Chinese tourists arrived to celebrate for that one week. It was such a contrast. All of a sudden people bumping into me, cutting lines, shouting at waitresses. Puking on the train station on a regular basis. One would even try to start a fight with me because I jumped out of the way when they spit in front of me on the pedestrial. It was horrible. I made the same experience at the Milano fair event. They would push you aside, go into backstage areas as they pleased, threw all their trash on the ground and shamelesly took apart the kitchen furnitures on display. Then they took pictures of the insides, prosumably to copy the items for cheap. So rude. So rude.
Another story from my home town Berlin: I used to go to this Chinese restaurant late at night and sometimes it was full, sometimes empty. Nevertheless, the owner would always serve us gladly and kindly. They had this VIP section that was always empty. The kind of room where they have mirrors and those spinning dining tables for big bowls in the middle. Until one night there was Chinese costumers there. They would literally wreck up the place and throw at each other with drinks. Every 20 minutes or so you would hear a glass being thrown to the ground and through the slit of the sliding doors I could also see spitting on the floor going on. As the owner had always been kind to us, we asked if he needed any assistence throwing them out, to which he responded with a smile on his face and said: "Oh no, I don't mind the few bucks on glasses and the cleaning. They spend so much money on these stupidly overpriced bottles on the top shelf!" He meant the ones that no one ever orders, but you can always see 'em and wonder who the hell orders them. Moet Champagne, Henessy, Grey Goose Vodka, in those huge bottles. "They are buying it to impress each other and I make a fortune, so I really don't care."

Some time back, some managers were deported after cases of violence against the African workers (captured on camera caning workers for being "late")... Another establishment was closed temporarily after open cases of racism against any black customer were confirmed (no entry for blacks, literally in the middle of Nairobi). Then some would walk around like we owe them a lap dance for getting noticed by them!!! They are rude and act like they own the president himself!! And treating their workers like the gum beneath their shoes!! The nice ones are the "poor" ones, maybe because they understand how wrong this entitlement is. But thanks for this video. Where we see inequality and bullying, asia sees incompetence and "ideas over people- by those who deserve to decide"- yet never living up to their own skeletons at home and the fears of their own culture, and of their family. The let-up and kick they get from being powerful enables their deranged cruel behaviour, and the people take it out of fear, yet you can always talk these things out- ultimately, there are capable, empathetic people at most of the highest positions, and where there aren't, there also aren't any real issues, as the issue makers also don't have cover, and are protected mainly by their mouths. You can alwys push on them, and phase them out, and there is ultimately the ultimate limits of shit taking in the matter of public justice.
I remember years ago I was on a flight to Korea on China Air and the flight attendant in my aisle was extremely hostile to me. I was really young and had never experienced treatment like that in America so I thought maybe it was something I did wrong. Whenever they would pass out the food or blankets that came with our flight I was the only one she skipped over. It was so bad that I couldn't hold back my tears. Eventually there was another passenger on the flight who noticed this as well so they got upset and complained on my behalf. Afterwards they sent a different flight attendant to serve me because the first one flat out refused.
Not only in China, Koreans have more or less the same attitude too. If you watch enough k-movies you'll notice that even among cops and in offices, the superiors will slap, hit, punch, spit, or kick their subordinates physically for the slightest mistake without any repurcussion. I work in aerospace and there was a young Chinese man who was living and working in Kansas that worked in our office. I still don't know how he was allowed to work there. Anyway, he was what we considered upper middle class and even he was incredibly pompous. He couldnt wait to brag about every little thing he felt was superior. He told me, completely unsolicited, that he'd never driven himself anywhere until he came to Kansas. He drove 150 miles to buy sandals at a luxury store in KC and never cooked his own meals. He was under the impression this was appealing behaviour to Americans.
Thats how large the gap are between the poor and the rich. Most of the time through nepotism, the rich get richer and the poor get more desperate. The ethical issues between the moral compass of the people is really low if you go higher in the pyramid and also to the lower pyramid. Human degenerations, it's accumulated through this conjunction. Low ethics will gave rise to that of a unlawful societies. Propaganda everywhere.. We are in war against the principalities of this world. War against the enemy of the humanity. This explains a lot. Having grown up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I observed this type of behavior from those who appeared to be first generation Chinese immigrants. The problem is, the rudeness is contagious and really makes hanging out in public around there a drag.
I can relate to this. I met a Chinese girl a while ago and went on a few dates, she was always very sweet but then one time we went to an authentic Chinese restaurant and she acted horrible towards the staff. I ended it about 20 minutes after dinner.
I think could be a cultural thing. Because to them, they see it that to get things done in a Chinese restaurant, you have to be fierce and assertive. And because service line people for Chinese don't practise tipping, they may not be that attentive to the diners

Living in a Swedish city, there was a restaurant near my workplace where I used to have lunch. The owner was Chinese but some of the staff probably were immigrants from other countries as they spoke broken Swedish to each other. One day the owner said some really mean things to one of the waitresses when we customers could hear him and I decided never to eat there again. The restaurant went bankrupt during the pandemic. There is a new restaurant there now and it seems to be fine.
If you cannot confront for whatever reason, that was the best that you could do to help people who are being mistreated. I just hope the ‘migrants’ got replacement jobs somewhere and are now not being abused anymore.
I lived in South Korea for a year, while I was teaching English over there. I used to hold the door open for them but then they never reciprocated, so I just stayed there holding the door for a bunch of people. Then, I eventually just stopped holding doors.
My parents are Chinese borned in Tahiti. They visited china with their tahitian friends for the first time. When the taxi came to them a bunch of people run and jump into the taxi. They were all shocked. Same thing happened with the second one. After that they decided to run also but the other people were faster than them. After 1 hour, the friends decided to run faster, it was looking like a competition but they were able to jump into the taxi. They were exhausted (they were not young) but they couldn’t stop laughing and they had a good souvenir.

I'm with you, Winston. During my nearly 20 years in China, many rich people warned me about poor people - that they would cheat me if I treated them fairly. I found quite the reverse. Most rich people I knew were always cheating - almost like a sport or pathological compulsion. And the poor - like bike repair guys would often do little things for free! One time I actually haggled with a bike repairman - except I was pushing the price up and he was pushing it down!!

I took a girl to a restaurant and she pulled the same thing. Treated the wait staff like crap and was just nasty. I Did not finish the meal. I payed and told her I'm out. Find a ride home. And did it in front of the staff. Best thing I ever did.

I had a similar experience in Thailand while dating a girl from a wealthy family who was Thai-Chinese. She spoke perfect English and was beautiful, kind, and sweet (to me at least) and we got on great. She could have bought and sold me ten times over but it didn't seem to bother her and I really liked her until spending a few days in her hometown, Hat Yai. The way she treated people and her attitudes towards the poor really turned me off and it was embarrassing for me at times. We would pull up at a restaurant in her Mercedes and she would immediately get on the horn, demanding staff come outside and organise for other people to move their cars so we could park. She was just so abusive I couldn't believe it. One night we walked into a crowded bar and she started yelling at the staff, demanding they find a table for us and eventually a table full of locals were moved away so we could sit down; I was too embarrassed to make eye contact with anyone.
Another time she had to pick something up for her father from a local factory. She pulls up next to the security booth and started yelling at the guard, and eventually after several trips back and forth the guard had delivered a bunch of small packages. I asked her why not just bring it all at once and she told me that she only asked for the items one at a time because people like him are too stupid to remember two things at once.
The final nail in the coffin came when we were driving past some small rubber plantations. She explained to me that local farmers - at the time at least - were getting really good money for rubber and pointed out new houses they were living in and the nice cars they were driving. I thought that's great for the farmers, but it definitely wasn't an attitude shared by her. She explained to me how wrong it was that these, stupid, uneducated, lazy farm people could earn a good living, which made it difficult for her family to find enough workers for their factories, so they now had to offer better wages and conditions. She was utterly disgusted by these people making a good living. She really seemed to view them as human trash who only existed to benefit the wealthy.

China turned me into the worst possible version of myself when I lived there. You can't be nice. You just can't. The whole environment pushes you to disregard, and in my case, just despise everyone else. Hold a door for someone? As you said, everyone just takes advantage. You're the doorman now, and no one even thanks you. Need to get off the bus or the train because you're coming on your stop? No amount of polite asking will get anyone to move and inch. You have to start shoving people if you don't want to miss your stop. And that's just basic navigation. Never mind the constant scams people are trying to pull, or the terrible food safety.
Sounds dystopian. Add in cybernetic implants, and you have yourself a Cyberpunk dystopia. Just imagine, 1 billion people live like that. Crazy.

Here in the Philippines, there was this Chinese woman who went viral and got into local news years ago due to what she did. In our country eating food at the platforms and inside a our metro trains is not allowed. The Chinese girl at the time was carrying and eating Taho(a warm Tofu like snack) while entering the platform. A guard told her it was not allowed, the Chinese girl in rage threw the Taho at the guard. To make the long story short, due to what she did she was deported and ban from entering the country.

She told me, "Stand right there on the platform, and when the door opens you rush in and grab me a seat". At that moment I was actually standing at the platform, first in line thinking I got this. By the time the train pulled up, I was surrounded by pushing and shoving Chinese people of all genders and ages, pushing and jostling for position. Old ladies were trying to crowd me out. When the door finally did open up, it was tons worse than any Wal-mart Black Friday sale I had ever seen. I am not a small guy, yet those little people around me were friggin animals. They pushed me around like a little kid. And I didnt get a seat for her. Every person on that car (and it was packed full) noticed a pregnant women standing there, and could give two shits about.
So after that, on the next train ride back to Hong Kong, same thing going in. Only this time I was bad ass Dick Butkus. I pushed and elbowed a clear path for her and got her a seat.
I would hate to have to live my life that way.

I work in the service industry in America, I clean carpets in high end office buildings, I'm in the offices of CEOs and executives every night, sometimes they work late and I run into them. I have had amazing conversations with these people. They make 10 times my salary and they ask me about myself, my hobbies, if I like my job, if my pay is enough, they want to know if my company treats it's people well, and they are always appreciative of my work. They always thank me and most of them shake my hand no matter how dirty it is. I never feel like I'm lesser. Most people in America view each other as equal even if they make more and drive a nicer car. I used to do outside sales at my company and would network and go to luncheons and dinner parties all the time with wealthy executives and they were always so nice to the waiters and restaurant staff, they always left huge tips. And these are the supposed evil capitalists that look down on the working class

These conversations happen later in the evening while the executive is working late and nobody else is around. Most of them started as entry level employees and slowly worked their way up. Also most of these people are Republicans so I doubt they do much virtue signaling

I agree 100%. I married into a family in which my husband grew up sleeping in one bed with 5 people in a house with a single room. They were humble back then. Fast forward 13 years from 1990 to 2003. They were now nuevo rich. They suddenly felt just fine treating workers horribly. It was awful. I was so embarrassed traveling around with them. I kept thinking: Have you forgotten where you came from? I guess so.
That's what we call in french "parvenus" it's a word to qualify that exact behaviour. People who are happy to put down others once they themselves have success. And often, those who act like this have succeded out of luck, not because they have talent or worked hard. Those who have talent are often humble.

I think it is also how they were raised and how one has perspective of the world too. My family been through lots of up and down in my country. I have seen many poor people who have become suddenly rich forget their past. Probably they think money is most important to do what you want to do in life and so tried to make money by taking advantage of others so they still do not care or take into consideration for others. The problem here with Myanmar generals who are now taking the leadership positions are the same too. Since they are rankers rising from privates, when they get power they mistreat their own staff because this is how they were treated before becoming to that level. When they get top leadership role, they think they are small god or kings and want people to worship them.

One relative knows a guy worth at least 65 million likely more and said you'd never realise. There's actually PILES of stories here of people worth millions getting kicked out of BMW dealerships. One guy and his brother owned huge coal mines. They wouldn't let him sit in a small BMW and kicked him out basically calling him poor because of how he was dressed. His and his brothers mines were valued that year for tax reasons. 274 million dollars.

2 experiences of dealing with Rich Chinese. My mother being assistant director at Eurotunnel and some high profile Chinese execs turning up - behaved like exclusive VIP and expecting nothing but Chinese food and be served. Me being assistant director for a summer school, and them rich Chinese kids and their assistants expecting full Chinese food catering and be treated like royalty - they had to be put back in their place, told they were students exactly like the other students, blend in if you don't like it, leave and go back to your country.

Here in Vegas I was working at a women's clothing store called Bebe in a tourist heavy area and was ringing up this Chinese tourist. Time to pay she threw the money in my face, I calmly picked up her money bill by bill and folded it neatly, walked to the entrance door and threw her money out into the crowd. Walked back up to her and told her she can leave now. Played out about as well as you think lol, manager wasn't in that day so amazingly I didn't get fired but it was a seasonal job so I was only there other week anyways lol.

I used to work in a grocery store here in the UK, and Chinese students would very often just walk straight into me and genuinely make my job more difficult than it would already be for seemingly no reason. I wont lie, I felt guilty that I was stereotyping, but it was every single person who would shop in my store. This video contextualizes my experience perfectly

My first exposure was a Turkish restaurant close to the Chinese embassy in Berlin. Sometimes you would see what I guess were embassy staff walk in, demanding to be able to inspect the grilled chickens just to then comment loudly in front of everyone that the quality was not to their standards and they left. When I was younger things like this puzzled me ... then I went to China... I have to add though that a two year stay in Hong Kong also taught me that you shouldn't really generalise. There were worlds in between Hong Kong and Shenzhen ....

Years ago I went with a Chinese girlfriend to Sears to help her find some furniture but no one was manning that area so I had to go find someone to help. After a bit of a wait someone finally came and I thought great, now we can get on with ordering what she wanted, but instead my girlfriend proceeded to lecture this low level employee for 15 minutes about our having to wait and the store not having the area manned. It dawned on me that if she treated this person this way, it was only a matter of time before she did the same to me.
I don't get why some people can't just think that there may be a staff shortage or that staff are busy. It's not just some Chinese people, there's that bad and entitled behavior in every country. There's a video about what the Dutch think of Americans. And some people, including some Americans, stereotype Americans as rude too. Such as some American tourists expecting the world to know English. The reverse happens too. Some migrants to English speaking countries expected people to know their language too.

My friend told me an old Chinese woman walked up her driveway into her yard and picked tomatoes off her plants.
I saw one in Walmart take a whole ream of plastic bags off the register turnstile that the worker had just placed there and walk towards the exit. They had to run after her and stop her. It's like they're under the impression that their behavior is acceptable and if no one stops them they do what they want.
Hence why most public toilets don't have toilet rolls inside; you've got to take your own. And in some places, you've got to scan a QR code with your phone to get a limited supply from a dispenser.

That's literally it. They have no manners. They do not care about anyone else around them. I was just at the DMV in California two days ago and there was three lines to get in. A line for people with appointments, a line for no appointments, and a line for vehicle registrations only. Chinese mother and son came in and looked around.... And then just pushed their way all the way to the front of the line and the woman told the DMV person they were here for his driving test. The DMV lady told her Appointment? And she said no. The DMV person told her to go to the back of the blue line. The Chinese woman looked back, walked like three steps back with her son and just started trying to squeeze in the line and hahahahahahahah this sassy old black lady IMMEDIATELY said "UHHHHH HELLLLL NAAAAAAWWWW YOU GOTTA GO TO THE BACK, NOWWWWW!" and the Chinese lady just looked at her and turned back around BAHAHAHAHAH there's no way in hell that Chinese woman didn't know that what she was attempting to do was messed up, at the very least it should have been obvious to her, assuming she's been in this country for any length of time, HOW LINES WORK! I had no sympathy as she got yelled at by like ten different people because she wouldn't move and the DMV person finally had to intervene and went up to her and told her to get to the back of the blue line..... Well...... I’m an American living in Thailand for the last 4-5 years. This is my second time living near Bangkok and I spent a year teaching in Seoul. Your videos are fascinating to me as I am a California licensed teacher who has taught online to Chinese students and been offered several very high paying positions in China. I’ve been intrigued, but always had a red flag in my mind about China. Thailand and Korea have similar cultural issues, many seem to be influenced by China. Yet, your stories make me really hesitant to consider China as a work option. Foreign teachers may not be paid as well here in Thailand, but the lifestyle seems much more laid back than the nonsense you describe happening in China. Being an immigrant is always a challenge and at times frustrating, no matter where you’re from or where you are, but China just seems to be a non-stop chore.
My sentiments EXACTLY!! I was going to teach in China, I mean complete with closing my business down at the end of the year and basically moving my whole world and life from US to China. This has completely changed my plans, because I know me, and between this and the spitting and the bumrushing masses, it's a no-go on that. My business and clients are happy that I am staying, though. I like my kindness, compassion, and lovely personality, I do not want it to change because I move to another country voluntarily. Hard pass. Good luck to you, though, teaching.

It was a culture shock for me when I had to take a business trip to Shanghai and I saw the wealth gap and this mistreatment of people. I described it to friends as a high-tech 3rd world. Ferraris dodging bikes. 50 story buildings with entire sides covered in LCD panels running video and at the base, dirty toothless women with babies begging for money. And I am not talking about a couple. I am talking about hundreds of them and everywhere.
I was staying at a really nice hotel. I arrived late in the evening so I dumped my bags and went down to the bar. I sat at a table by myself and watched stunned as every table treated the waitress like absolute garbage. Half of the people there were from Japan so I thought maybe it was a racial thing. After a couple weeks there I realized it was a Class thing and what I had seen was local businessmen showing their clout in front of visiting businessmen from Japan. No matter where I went I saw people with money treating people 'below' them like dogs. Whether it was shopping or bars or restaurants, the more nicely someone was dressed, the more unbearable they were to anyone they were interacting with.
Treatment of others was bad as well. As was mentioned, it is almost a necessity to set aside a part of your humanity in order to function there. You have to push your way on or off subways or buses or you will never get anywhere. No holding doors for people. I held an elevator door for a woman and six more people pushed in. I had to take the next elevator and they didn't care. You have to be aggressive standing in line anywhere or people will just push in front of you.
It was really sad. I loved getting to see the old gardens and ancient temples. However, once my business there was done, there was never a place that I have been more happy to leave.

I have a close friend that married a woman that Immigrated to the USA from Japan. He was on a visit with her back to Japan and encountered Chinese tourists while shopping. Several of these tourists attempted to cut in a long line to pay for items. The Japanese shoppers were allowing it as if it was normal. My friend is a typical New Yorker from Staten Island. Needless to say, the Chinese tourists were placed back in line. His wife told him later this was a normal experience and that the average Japanese have an acute disdain for Chinese tourists. She also stated that it was very normal for the wealthier Chinese to come to Japan to shop because they were seeking items in Japan that could only be bought in China as counterfeits.
The difference between Japanese and Chinese people is night and day
I have seen worse behaviour with people from other cultural background especially from the West. There dressed inappropriately. Lots of drunkards fighting in the streets, threatening innocent bystanders and you don't feel safe without fearing getting mugged.

They would run me ragged, back and forth... and sometimes just stop in the middle of the store right in front of me, just to make me walk around them. They were terribly rude and quite sexist.

We saw a waitress crying the other night when my husband and I went out to eat. She didn’t want to tell us what happened but finally (after we bugged her) we found out that the rowdy guys that had been sitting close to us had skipped out on their bill plus they had harassed her the whole time they were there. She said her boss would take the cost of their meal out of her paycheck. My husband went and paid those guys check and gave her a tip on top of it. She was astonished that we did that but I have been a waitress when I was younger and in college. I hated it. It was the most thankless job I’ve ever had in my life. I know there are so many waiter’s and waitresses that are good at their job and love it but I absolutely hated it. We did that for the waitress because we wanted her to know that there are awful people in the world but there are also kind, decent people. I don’t care how much money I have I will never treat anyone less than. Not the janitor at the school and not the waitress in a sports bar. You should treat others with dignity unless they mistreat you or someone else. That lady crying at the car broke my heart. I wish I could give her a hug and tell her not everyone is hateful like that.

I've been told that a substantial amount of Chinese students in Australia are there because they couldn't get into a Beijing Uni and instead of being seen sending their child to a 'lesser' uni their wealthy parents send them to a foreign western uni which holds its own kind of prestige regardless of the uni itself.
me and my brother almost knocked down a Chinese family over seas on holiday. we where waiting in a line to get breakfast and they just came out of no wear and sort of shoved us aside and started being super rude. it caught us off guard because we never seen anything like that before and the way they talked to the breakfast guy pissed me off but unfortunately for them they are all like 4ft3. so the next day me and my brother waited for them and did what they did the day before but almost shoved them to the floor then gave them a look of disgust and tipped the guy serving breakfast and apologised to him but it seemed to make him smile but the look on that family's face ill never forget.

I was working in Egypt about 4 or 5 years ago going to new dig sites to get archaeological experience for my under grad. While I had some time off I went to the valley of the kings to experience the gorgeous tombs cut into the rock. While I was there I saw a Chinese man reach up and pick some of the paint off the wall of a 3,000 year old tomb. I just about lost my mind. I dragged him out of the tomb threw him in the sand and started screaming at him about what he was doing. The guards came over and I explained to them and they kicked him out but the whole time it’s like this guy had no clue what he was doing wrong. HE WAS DESTROYING HISTORY and he said “I just wanted to know if it was real” it’s just unbelievable

But polite westerners observed but action at Airport security was not what the wise wanted. So. Observed them later at duty free with bags of fags and booze. Big smiles of triumph. I live in Las Vegas and there were a group of chinese people in front of the Mirage Casino Hotel. They pushed themselves through to the fence where the volcano goes off (with flames )and just ignored me and my family like we were not even there. They seem to have no awareness of others and only cared about themselves.
Most of them are CCP agents, get ready when they take over America and our police force protects them over us. Americans will be arrested by their police so China is able to take us over. Look at Covid and cops arrest church goers and restaurant owners. Sad times.

I was at Flamingo hotel eating my fish & chips meal on a patio. It was pretty busy, and a group of Chinese tourists just surrounded my table and shout around each other about my order of food, how much does it cost, how soon will I leave, etc. They want a table, but they don’t dare to invade the space of any American tourists, they think I am an easier target and it’s easier this way to annoy me off so they can have my table.
So I finished my meal, and I intentionally spread the residues to the table and the ground. They grab my chair even before I left the table, and I watched from a distance of seagulls constantly bothering them by picking up residues 😂

I wouldn't leave and would complain to the manager, of they dont deal with the situation i would file a complaint.
My Chinese wife kind of warned me of the lack of manners in China before I visited. It was astounding. For instance, one thing I didn't know at the time and it really hit home was that, If somebody stops in the street in the UK, people will politely queue behind them. It's a very British thing. Something Brits are proud of. But in China, Queue at your peril. They simply don't know the meaning. First come, first serve. Push, shove, i'm before you. I felt that no one was aware of or had any respect for anyone else around them.
The other thing was shouting "Foreigner!" (in chinese) at the top of their voices whenever I was spotted in a street. Something i've never experienced or ever done myself in any other country i've visited. Really strange and slightly annoying.
As for the "wealth is power" thing. I have seen that a lot in a few different places. People just act like dicks because what else have they got to worry about. But generally, it is curbed in the west as 3rd parties tend to step in and give them a good hiding for behaviour like that. No longer does the "Do you know who I am?" thing work with these people because they could potentially be eating fist before the sentence is over. Disrespecting people of lower financial standing is just disgusting and scummy. Maybe that doesn't happen in the east.

@@faye891 I once told my wife i'd be prepared to live in China when I retired. I've since redacted that statement. I was in North east China. Majority of Chinese people are good (I guess much like any other country) but I was married there and a policeman was assigned to me. I was never told this would happen. I found the food to be a real mixed bag. Building Health and safety was non-existent during construction. No international internet. Government personnel were A-holes and totally unhelpful. Zero wildlife. No modern headache tablets! The local pharmacy told me to drink an infusion of some herbal rubbish and if it didn't cure my headache in 10 days, return and try something else. I really expected a few thousand years of amazing history but it felt very eastern european. It was an amazing adventure but not one i'd care to repeat. It just felt like a huge backward step.
Ironically, they refer to their countrymen as "Da Jia" meaning big family.

@@shsu7426 It's strange and sad isn't it. These problems probably start with children's education and stick with them their whole lives because they don't know any better. Without labelling (and being to harsh to the average Chinese citizen) one might call them Uncivilised. But I feel that is because they simply have next to zero outside influence so it ends up in a self sustaining loop of weird and awkward behaviour to many people outside, looking in. What I find very odd is that just across the water in Japan, the absolute polar opposite in social behaviour occurred. As far as manners and etiquette go, I found Japan to be the most advanced on the planet in that respect. And I truly felt that if I could, i'd move to Japan with all of it's cultural complexities. Kind of my soul-country.
My Chinese mother-in-law was amazed at the freedom our son had. She said in China, children are made to study dawn to dusk every day. And I can imagine it would mostly be false information about the west and how great Mao was. China is like the weird man that locks all the children in the cellar and tells them the world has ended.

@@midnightteapot5633 Same here - even though Taiwan is as much of a capitalist society as China, you will see that people there have not lost their ways the same way I experienced in Shenzhen -> although I have to stress that Shenzhen seems to be one of the worst examples in China. I've never experienced that level of rudeness in other parts of the country.
Yeah, Taiwan rules! I was raised in North America, but born in Taiwan. Went back to Taiwan as an adult for the first time since I was an infant a few years ago, and wow, such a great experience and the people are kind and definitely different than everything I read about people from mainland China.
Unfortunately, my grandma would act fairly entitled and would treat servers pretty horribly.
From 1998 to 2001 I made several week to a couple months long trips to China for my job. I was testing software and computer systems that my company sold to Chinese oil companies and installed on site. The oil company execs had several banquets for us celebrating progress milestones during our work. I noticed the rude way waitresses and other low level workers were treated. The waitress were never thanked, even though they were very good at their jobs. I always said thank you in my best "cher shi" or "xi xer" Mandarin I could muster. I even spoke to them by their names when I could. I noticed the locals, especially the oil company officials, noticing my politeness. One of my American colleagues gave me a "stop that" look several times.
I could tell the waitresses appreciated it because they were more cheerful around me than they were around the Chinese. The oil co. employees attempted to take turns "being polite" with me by going one-on-one with the toasts, "Ganbei". I don't remember the name of the liquor, but it was clear and to me it tasted like kerosene. I turned my shot glass upside down so that it would only hold a small amount of liquor in the concave well on the bottom. They told the waitress to turn it over before filling it. They were trying to get me drunk. She filled only the bottom well as I asked. I had already witnessed this one-on-one trick being used to get my colleagues very drunk. I held my ground and did not buy into their game.
At the end of this particular banquet I spoke to one of the English speaking waitresses. I proposed a toast to the waitresses and cooks and invited all of the waitresses to participate (all at once). I took a full shot this time for them. The waitresses were very happy to have been included. To my surprise, and even more so to my colleagues' surprise, the Chinese (CCP members) oil company officials seemed to admire my gumption as they treated me with great respect later.

I used to go regularly to a Chinese warehouse/store here in the UK ,and the staff were very nice and polite. Slowly over the years I saw a shift in the Chinese staffs attitude towards the English customers (Their business was mostly wholesale to take- away restaurants) So I stopped going. But recently a friend asked about it as she had never been, so I took her and OMG I have never felt so uncomfortable. We were totally ignored at the fish counter until we just gave up and moved away, then my friend asked another staff member a question and he gave a very curt and unhelpful reply...then called out very loudly (In Chinese) to another member of staff who looked at us and burst out laughing. It was horrendous and I will NEVER, NEVER step foot in that place again.........even if I was starving!!
Same thing happened to me and a friend from Germany in San Fran. We went for a bite to in in a small local restaurant. We walked in and a few workers were sitting at a table chopping food others walking around. No one acknowledged us at all. Not to say, 'we are not open, or we are on lunch please come back'. Nothing. They just looked at us like we were ghost or a look of hostility. I was so embarrassed. My German friend brings it up all the time. I should have yelped a bad review but to be honest I was in shock, and still am.

I live near Yellowstone national park, very popular among the chinese, and whenever we travel and stay at nearby hotels there inevitably are Chinese tourists staying as well. I have had chinese vacationers steal Belgian waffles many times at the free continental breakfasts. I had just assumed they're super rude people without western boundaries. I go through the trouble of filling a cup with batter and pouring it in the waffle iron only to have someone swoop in and take my waffle as the timer goes off, and before I can retrieve it. Has happened dozens of times and had me perplexed, it even became a joke among family and friends.

A buddy of mine married a women from China. My buddy basically had to break her of that poor attitude she had towards service workers. It was seriously like he was breaking a wild horse. She had to learn a whole new mindset. It was a struggle for her but she eventually came around and she is a great person now.

That explains a lot of my college years…I wondered a lot why the Chinese exchange students were such assholes to everyone around campus and intentionally broke things in front of janitorial staff. The Chinese students born in the US were very embarrassed because some people associated them with the exchange students.

The supermarket where I lived once had corn on sale at a very low price. They had to have been losing money on it. When I walked into the supermarket, I immediately saw a large crowd of Chinese people surrounding a large box of corn. They were pealing the husks off and throwing them on the floor. That was so that the corn weighed less and they saved a few pennies. It was such a disgusting site, that I just left the supermarket and went to another one.
The price for that behavior in a western country is that everyone will see you as that outcast village idiot. And it's definitely not worth the price of a few corn husks. That a group of ordinary Chinese are shamelessly trying to save a few pennies in that way is scary.

I love that you included the video where the Chinese tourists were removed from the hotel. I live in Sweden and read about the incident. Swedish people know absolutely nothing abut China. It wouldn't surprise me if half the population doesn't even know it's not a democracy. When swedish people saw the unruly people rejected from the hotel, they figured they might have been drunk or mentally ill and thought nothing of it. When the CCP warned citizens of traveling to sweden, the swedish people was so confused. Such a culture shock.
Most do know how bad China is. The approval, rating and trust in China is at its lowest point ever. The official China/CCP BS is not liked by Swedes. The Confucius institutes were closed by Sweden, hardly any kids want to learn Mandarin in school anymore, there’s countless of articles in the media almost daily since many years about all the shit and threats China is doing. China and it’s embassy in Stockholm has threatened Swedish journalists and that is a matter of national security. The case of Gui Minhai (Chinese: 桂民海), the Chinese-born Swedish book publisher and writer who was kidnapped in Thailand by the CCP in 2015 and is kept in some dungeon in China, is an other huge beef Sweden has with China.
Even the police in the short clip were laughing because the Chinese people acted so ridiculous, the Chinese turned up the wrong day and the hotel or hostel had to call the police because they refused to leave.

Yea not exaggerating at all.. I remember that incident very clearly and we had a good laugh about it for a month. Most people know about China, it's just that swedes are lazy and don't wanna be bothered by that dump. Sorry to say it's a simular situation here in Australia with a lot of the Chinese nationals. I'm a tradie and fell in to working for a lot of Chinese, many of them were horrible and argue the price so I ended up just refusing the work, it wasn't worth the pain for me and my staff.

The amount of wealthy Chinese who have been buying up here and taking over suburbs and living life as if it was still China; absolute arrogance / pompousness of these people is overpowering the Aussie spirit of welcoming, tolerance and giving everybody a chance. As someone who worked in the service industry during Covid-19 it was a little ray of freedom. First time ever I was able to tell rude customers that they could eff off and when they complained to corporate the managers did nothing because they were desperate for workers! It was a magical time.
I don’t even work in the service industry, and I wish service workers could treat customers exactly how the customers are treating the workers. Hearing stories like this makes my day.

I'm sure you can guess that during my 10 years living and working in China I came across multiple examples of this It is endemic. I also noticed that it was mostly practiced among the nouveau rich classes or by those who wished to give the impression that they had money. My students at the university were at first astounded when I explained that the two most important words in English are
" Please & Thankyou" as they are hardly used in Chinese and are especially missing when talking to someone considered inferior in status to one's self.
Many in Australia are pigs also. Some are nice also.
It's funny that you say that as please and thank you are two of the first words I taught my child. I've never thought about a society that wouldn't use good manners and social respect as a goal.

I live in an area in Southern California with a very large number of Chinese immigrants and most of them need to make the effort to assimilate to American culture that every other group has always made in generations past. Unfortunately assimilation is not only not promoted for the obvious reasons regarding social cohesion, but many on the Left actually think assimilation is wrong and it’s clear that they are the ones that are wrong.

Actually that rings true in my experience. I took a Chinese friend to nice, hip restaurant in New York to show her an authentic local spot. She had a very expensive camera she wanted to show off, and started taking pics of people, got up and totally invaded their privacy. When a waitress politely told her to stop, she all but screamed at her, like yelling at a dog, insisting she can do what she wants. Pretty embarrassing! Luckily it was not a date. I was just helping a friend out, who had this person visiting from China…
Thats when its ok to berate them back in public.

Here in Ireland one of the easiest ways to get chucked out of a restaurant or pub is by being rude to serving staff.
Same here in Finland. A 6 month or 12 month ban can also be given.
I use to go to an Irish pub in Germany. The bartender is an Irish guy. One evening there was two rude Germans talking bs for a while and then complained why the bartender was speaking English in an Irish pup…
I got to their table and said if they not go now willingly I will force them to leave.

This is why as Chinese-American, I always try to be as kind and polite as possible to anyone up front, so they don't assume I'm the same kind of rude, badly educated(in etiquette), loud and annoying tourist group that gives all Chinese people a bad rep.
I was disappointed with how my Uncle treated people in China during his tourist trips, he was told due to the fact he has millions of dollars. That he can freely treat the civilians with the worst attitude, yet receive no consequences about it. He recorded videos of himself disrespecting rural villagers, elders, homeless people & shop owners, etc. I seen a side of him I wish I knew about a lot sooner, he bragged about how satisfying it was to assert his dominance. It's heartbreaking.

We spent 3 months in Wuxi building a manufacturing facility. We stayed in the International Hotel which was very nice. We witnessed a HUGE range of difference in how people treated the staff based on their nationalities. We were always kind, patient, talked to the staff, joked with them and eventually we had a core group that would attend to us solely. When we left, we had the entire wait staff gather around us, shake our hands, take pictures, and wish us well and it wasn't because we did anything different, I believe it was because we treated them well and respected them. I was proud to leave a good impact as an American.

In fact, many dark sides are not shown in the official media. They are indeed better for foreign enterprises, because China’s labor is cheap, and they do not strike. Working overtime without extra pay is normal. Foreigners are comfortable in China for this reason, but if it is Chinese people working, the position is reversed.

When I arrived in China I would always be carefull when exiting a subway train (i'm a big guy and I am conscious of the space I use) but after a while I have had enough of rude people who would not let me go out before trying to enter the train so I started to just push back like a football player !

Yes I was being pushed and knocked at the subway stations in China. But I automatically always apologize due to habit and the other person would turn to look at me with surprise. When I related this experience at times in some videos, some Chinese would scold me

ugh the first clip made me sooo sad... i studied in the UK and US but my parents didn't immigrate from china. when i went back i would say please and thank you to the wait staff and they would be so surprised (both my family and the staff) because so few people say that. it made me feel really bad like they work hard and dont even get a tiny bit of respect :(

I experienced some of this nonsense at Shanhai (ShangXi?) airport pre-departure gate. One of the children of the family in front of me had gone back to get a drink from a vending machine. The rest of the family got through, but the guard wouldn't allow the child through. The cutoff time was 12:00 and the child had arrived back at 12:01. The father was saying "Look, you can let him through. Otherwise it is a disaster for us. One of us will have to stay back with him, and we will have to rebook flights. For what? What is served?". And the guard stepped onto the raised kiosk so he was towering over the man and shouted at him: "I am the boss! You do not talk back to me!" It was a horrible situation, and the family was visibly struck by this cruel and needless ego-trip. I felt like a jew en-route to a concentration camp. Never again will I route any flight via China. I will not be a part of their sad power-play drama. Something is deeply wrong in that culture.
When you're raised in a dog eat Dog environment, you'll take every opportunity to step on the weaker. It's sad but that's the culture they're raised in.

The gas station attendant... As someone who has worked multiple frontline customer service jobs. I have both witnessed and experienced first hand what she went through. Seeing it happen to others always pains me like a dagger through my heart each and every time I see it.
Even if i had shaq o'neal levels of money, I could never treat another person like that. Why cant people treat other people with a bit of love and respect. Some people are stuck on the ladder just trying to survive and make it through life on a small wage so they can feed themselves, their family and maybe rent. There is no need to bully them and make their lives harder.

I've experienced it working service in America, but I've always been able to defend myself with minimal repercussion. That's what makes the difference... having the ability to punish them with poor service and of your boss doesn't have your back, there are other service jobs.

I worked on a constrction site for a luxury resort off the coast of Australia. The catering was provided as we couldn't leave the island, dozens of Chinese workers were on the project doing the dry-lining. They were ultimately forced to have to eat last because any time they would be allowed to go to the buffet before other workers they would pile their plates so high with food & then never even eat half of it & waste it for everyone else. They would spit indoors and throw litter where ever they fancied; on the floor or straight into the ocean. Once a sea turtle swam into the bay and whilst everyone else was looking on in amazement, the first thing the Chinese workers did was hurl large rocks at it to try and kill it. I honestly don't know how a vast proportion of such a huge race can be such disgraceful human beings.
Bcuz China is not a homogeneous society and the only way to get all the different ethnic ppl to work and fight for the same country is by violent force which is basically like soviet russia and current russia tbh. It's disgusting and it's unbelievable that it's still a reality in 21st century. These two nations need to be demolished so russia is consist of truly russian ppl and china is consist of truly chinese ppl not other population that are taken prisoners by them!

I remember the day still when my Chinese roommate at university realised what the bribes were about that her parents received. Her parents worked for the government. She was so sad that day. She also knew, at that time and fully, how she was able to attend this university in a foreign country. You have reminded me of that day.

I have had similar experiences. One time my granny cart was falling apart while I was walking in the NYC metro. Two very humble looking Chinese people (boyfriend and girlfriend?) saw my plight and rushed up to help me peice it back together. Conversely, while on a disney cruise I offered to take a picture for a seemingly wealthy young Chinese couple. They practically shewed me away like a fly.
I was in Tokyo for the Golden Holiday Season. Before that, I was amazed with the level of hospitality, kindness and overall respect. People would literally gift me an umbrella when it rained and others would come run after me and hand it back, when I left it on the subway seat. All of that changed when the Chinese tourists arrived to celebrate for that one week. It was such a contrast. All of a sudden people bumping into me, cutting lines, shouting at waitresses. Puking on the train station on a regular basis. One would even try to start a fight with me because I jumped out of the way when they spit in front of me on the pedestrial. It was horrible. I made the same experience at the Milano fair event. They would push you aside, go into backstage areas as they pleased, threw all their trash on the ground and shamelesly took apart the kitchen furnitures on display. Then they took pictures of the insides, prosumably to copy the items for cheap. So rude. So rude.
Another story from my home town Berlin: I used to go to this Chinese restaurant late at night and sometimes it was full, sometimes empty. Nevertheless, the owner would always serve us gladly and kindly. They had this VIP section that was always empty. The kind of room where they have mirrors and those spinning dining tables for big bowls in the middle. Until one night there was Chinese costumers there. They would literally wreck up the place and throw at each other with drinks. Every 20 minutes or so you would hear a glass being thrown to the ground and through the slit of the sliding doors I could also see spitting on the floor going on. As the owner had always been kind to us, we asked if he needed any assistence throwing them out, to which he responded with a smile on his face and said: "Oh no, I don't mind the few bucks on glasses and the cleaning. They spend so much money on these stupidly overpriced bottles on the top shelf!" He meant the ones that no one ever orders, but you can always see 'em and wonder who the hell orders them. Moet Champagne, Henessy, Grey Goose Vodka, in those huge bottles. "They are buying it to impress each other and I make a fortune, so I really don't care."

Some time back, some managers were deported after cases of violence against the African workers (captured on camera caning workers for being "late")...
Another establishment was closed temporarily after open cases of racism against any black customer were confirmed (no entry for blacks, literally in the middle of Nairobi).
Then some would walk around like we owe them a lap dance for getting noticed by them!!! They are rude and act like they own the president himself!! And treating their workers like the gum beneath their shoes!!
The nice ones are the "poor" ones, maybe because they understand how wrong this entitlement is.

A tactic which he'd have used everyday at home, and now he can try to be seen as a couragerous conqueror and "enterpreneur"- a-la any other dictator "trying to make a change", by strangling the others and their opportuinities by manipulation. Where we see inequality and bullying, asia sees incompetence and "ideas over people- by those who deserve to decide"- yet never living up to their own skeletons at home and the fears of their own culture, and of their family.
The let-up and kick they get from being powerful enables their deranged cruel behaviour, and the people take it out of fear, yet you can always talk these things out- ultimately, there are capable, empathetic people at most of the highest positions, and where there aren't, there also aren't any real issues, as the issue makers also don't have cover, and are protected mainly by their mouths. You can alwys push on them, and phase them out, and there is ultimately the ultimate limits of shit taking in the matter of public justice.

I remember years ago I was on a flight to Korea on China Air and the flight attendant in my aisle was extremely hostile to me. I was really young and had never experienced treatment like that in America so I thought maybe it was something I did wrong. Whenever they would pass out the food or blankets that came with our flight I was the only one she skipped over. It was so bad that I couldn't hold back my tears. Eventually there was another passenger on the flight who noticed this as well so they got upset and complained on my behalf. Afterwards they sent a different flight attendant to serve me because the first one flat out refused.

I work in aerospace and there was a young Chinese man who was living and working in Kansas that worked in our office. I still don't know how he was allowed to work there. Anyway, he was what we considered upper middle class and even he was incredibly pompous. He couldnt wait to brag about every little thing he felt was superior. He told me, completely unsolicited, that he'd never driven himself anywhere until he came to Kansas. He drove 150 miles to buy sandals at a luxury store in KC and never cooked his own meals. He was under the impression this was appealing behaviour to Americans.
Thats how large the gap are between the poor and the rich. Most of the time through nepotism, the rich get richer and the poor get more desperate. The ethical issues between the moral compass of the people is really low if you go higher in the pyramid and also to the lower pyramid. Human degenerations, it's accumulated through this conjunction. Low ethics will gave rise to that of a unlawful societies. Propaganda everywhere.. We are in war against the principalities of this world. War against the enemy of the humanity. War against the atrocities committed by Evil.
Our world right now are moving towards changes. Both toward the goodness of Humanity and Full control over the population via brainwashed deadbeat zombies. This is not a threat but something that had accumulated through the years.

This explains a lot. Having grown up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I observed this type of behavior from those who appeared to be first generation Chinese immigrants. The problem is, the rudeness is contagious and really makes hanging out in public around there a drag.

I can relate to this. I met a Chinese girl a while ago and went on a few dates, she was always very sweet but then one time we went to an authentic Chinese restaurant and she acted horrible towards the staff. I ended it about 20 minutes after dinner.
I think could be a cultural thing. Because to them, they see it that to get things done in a Chinese restaurant, you have to be fierce and assertive. And because service line people for Chinese don't practise tipping, they may not be that attentive to the diners

Living in a Swedish city, there was a restaurant near my workplace where I used to have lunch. The owner was Chinese but some of the staff probably were immigrants from other countries as they spoke broken Swedish to each other. One day the owner said some really mean things to one of the waitresses when we customers could hear him and I decided never to eat there again. The restaurant went bankrupt during the pandemic. There is a new restaurant there now and it seems to be fine.

I lived in South Korea for a year, while I was teaching English over there. I used to hold the door open for them but then they never reciprocated, so I just stayed there holding the door for a bunch of people. Then, I eventually just stopped holding doors.
My parents are Chinese borned in Tahiti. They visited china with their tahitian friends for the first time. When the taxi came to them a bunch of people run and jump into the taxi. They were all shocked. Same thing happened with the second one. After that they decided to run also but the other people were faster than them. After 1 hour, the friends decided to run faster, it was looking like a competition but they were able to jump into the taxi. They were exhausted (they were not young) but they couldn’t stop laughing and they had a good souvenir.
Chinese American here, last time I visited China, people look at me weird when I say “hi” and “thank you” to the waiting staff.
I had a date with a heart doctor over a decade ago. Went to the dinner by my work. He treated the waitress like shit. I ignored him after then.
