@Meerkatdawg Hi, I will forward my opinion on this subject. The beauty of the Lemur design is that it brings all the strings in tension together and that is why it doesn't take forever to assemble it , tune it and play. If I had a gig overseas via plane and then travel by van or other means while you are in specific countries, it would be ok to take a separate gig bag for the stops that don't require dis-assembly of the fly away bass. The gig bag will not fit in the Fly Away case.
@flippaul #1 The idea is to keep the weight down saving you money (a trunk weighs so much that the inclusion of a bag in the trunk is negligible weight wise) so the bag goes wherever you want it but not inside this case. I would guess that you could fly a separate container with the soft bag inside and still save money over shipping in a trunk. #2 there are complete instruction for TSA printed right on the case I believe the folding bass requires detuning and the Fly-Away does not.
Thats an interesting attachment! I wonder if its a wood on wood joint of if there is metal for durability? Very interesting! Either way it looks a bit more rigid than the other detachable neck basses.
Very interesting. Two questions. 1. Where does the soft case go? 2. Have you had any problems with the velcro strap on the outside? TSA agents might find it odd. This looks more difficult to tear down and set up than the "Folding Bass", but it is a carved instrument, so I think it would put out more sound.
can you make a 5 string fly away bass, High C, not low B very much like it, have bought many EUB's for this very reason but am still unhappy about thier sound, am thinking a fly away bass would solve all my sonic issues. great work

@bassrockin There must be some sort of pocket on either end of the post to keep it from falling out.
The original version of this bass is called : fly Auray, made by Jean Auray in France.

Amazing. I might have to shoot a call down to Miguel and order one up.

It looks wonderful, however, the case looks a little flimsy. What is it made of?
Hi.
I would like to know if you have a Fly-away portable version of a Busetto model.
Thanks a lot
How much does this bass cost? can you send it to mexico?
This one is around $5000-$6000? I saw Christian McBride playing a Chadwick Folding bass for $3899, how does that compare?
3/4 or 1/2 ?
