Music is about connecting us all through our shared and similar experiences. Art is up to the observer/listener. Of course it's important what it means to them, but it also arouses feelings inside of other people with similar experiences.

I can remember when i heard it for the first time. I worked as a teacher in a high school.i had just learned that one of my pupils had lost her father at the end of the summer holidays.😥😥😥😥.This song broke my heart all the more as i knew this tragic event at the same time

I totally agree - having seen her in concert in Adelaide Australia. She sings like an angel but has a potty mouth, swears like a sailor and is hilarious.

One of the ultimate heartbreak songs. Her ability to change octaves within bars is utterly amazing.
Her live version of this from the Brit Awards is gut-wrenching. She even breaks down and cries. She said of all her songs, this song is the one she is the most proud of. I think because it's so personal and so honest. Nice reaction.
Adele wrote this because she was so emotionally drained & tired of being bitter in her songs "Rolling in the Deep" & "Rumor Has It" after she was broken up with. He was so important to her & she felt it was time to reflect those feelings as well. It was cathartic for her to say "Im going to be okay." 😢🥰

She’s a Londoner. We grow up with EVERY single influence. My mother listened to Motown, Shalamar, Kool and the Gang, Bob Marley, etc. my dad was listening to the Who, Rolling Stones, Bryan Ferry, etc. I had friends from all cultural backgrounds, so I had lots of different influences. I should imagine it’s the same for Adele. If you live in London.... you understand what I’m trying to say. 👍🏽🌹

Adele is amazing. She puts so much emotion into her songs. Throughout this song she sings, "Don't forget me, I begged. I remember you said, Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead." As the song progresses she sings the words like she is crying, its heartbreaking. It gets me every time.

She is one of those people who is just naturally and unintentionally funny, she has such a great sense of humor. She's just so effortlessly charming and endearing that you can't help but fall in love with her as a person as much as an artist.

She has had a couple of deep, long relationships that ended. Then she seems to isolate herself and then Boom! she drops some mind-blowing tracks...all written by her essentially down-loading her pain. Powerful and everyone can relate to her. Amazing lady...theres more to come for sure💝

I remember in 2008, a friend came round and said, Look what I've found on You Tube. It was "Chasing Pavements" by Adele. I was wowed by it. I know that she had previously released the single Hometown Glory, both songs from her album 19, but this was my first time hearing her sing. The rest is history.

For the next ones, I'd go for All I ask and/or When We Were Young - but really pretty much everything she's done is glorious. As someone said in one of the other comments, maybe on the last video - every single song on the album 21 is amazing. And it's incredible to think that those album titles are the age she was at the time of writing/release... just 19 years old for the first one, and still only 25 for the third in the trilogy!

I was lucky enough to see Adele on her last tour at the 02 in London, and her live performance is just as good as her studio recording, if not better. Not only that, she managed to make me feel like I was sitting in a small venue with how brilliantly she interacted with the audience instead of an arena. A truly amazing artist of her generation.
She Definetley has a voice that grabs you buy the heart !! You should try listening to her live concerts ! I swear she is one of the BEST live performers !! She sounds the same if not better than her official videos !! She has so much emotion in her songs !

For me, there’s certain singers whose voices become a part of the instrumentals, almost, and they are my faves..they’re amazing, she’s definitely one.
The best version of this song I like is the live one she did at the Brits awards, in the chorus she sings in a different key and at the end of the song you hear the sadness in her voice singing it ❤️
