Think about this though, statistically it is more likely to find what it's looking for by lying to a captor and sending it off to return to what the AI is after. It doesn't need to be honest when it can manipulate the truth.
Wait a minute; I'm confused. Oh, you meant the AI (captor) figured that it was more likely to find the information it wanted by lying to its captive (the living creature). Ah, yes, Alex! But that tactic is NOT 'brutally honest', is it. Just sayin'... Still, a fun short, eh?

the trick is to make sure u don't overuse it or make it so much more obvious then it is. an example is the difference of how the bugs look in the 1st and 3rd starship troopers movie
it's a short and most likely someone resume or some class project... soooooo they would try to put more into a short then they would in a 3 hour movie

Actually, this is one of those things that is left the way it is-a short film. Otherwise it runs the risk of things being lost in translation as a full-length movie developed by filmmakers who care more about “what sells.”

You reply like it can't be a full feature film simply because R'ha's people have no defenses? For one, not every movie has to end with the protagonists winning. On another note, pretty much any action / sci-fi films I could think of are not really on the "Hopeful" side for the good guys... that's what makes the plot.
Congratulations. I made my point today. If you honestly assume that everyone has to watch the same content the same moment you do, otherwise their opinion is irrelevant, no wonder your thoughts are flawed.
***** You're really calling other's thoughts flawed? He simply said he already explained his opinion two months ago. You had two months to be able to read his comment and all you came up with were questions that he already answered.
Also, just because other films have done something and it worked that doesn't mean it will work for a different film. This short was never intended to be extended into a full length film and no matter what kind of logic you use you should be able to see that by the end of this short. At most this could be extended into 30 minutes if drawn out. The short would have to contradict itself in a major way for this to be extended to over an hour. We've already seen and have been told this Terminator-esque race knows everything about R'ha's race (I'm assuming that's his name) including their psychology, physiology, combat capabilities, military tactics, and any other aspect you can think of if they already understand the building blocks. This race can predict and manipulate R'ha to the point where he leads their entire military force to the only beacon of hope for R'ha's people all while making R'ha think hes beaten them. Do you honestly believe an apparent "perfect" race could lose to a group of imperfect animals?
The only way for this to be a full film is with major ass pulls or completely broken logic. As the short ended R'ha is leading an entire race that knows everything about R'ha's people right to the last group of survivors. Once they get there the only logical outcome is these Terminator beings slaughter R'ha race. Its completely ridiculous to think that this can be extended into an actual film without making a complete fool out of itself or you.
I think maybe not a full length film..but another short equivalent to a sequel? another 10-15 minutes to see what happens?

The alien looked cool. Very similar to Egyptian gods like Anubis. The story is very similar to the Quarians and Geth from Mass Effect or the Battlestar: Galactica story.

michael frost those parts were good, but the rest was awe inspiring. The rest of the scenes could appear in the new star wars films and nobody would think it strange. That's how good the other scenes are; flawless

michael frost Well, those scenes didn't contain proper kinematics or velocities and weren't rendered with weighted objects. The camera placement running in the corridor was also jarring and stiff; it didn't match the rest of the film, which the camera was running on a script to emulate some hand held movement.
My first guess is that those two scenes were part of the draft and they didn't have time to run them through post production.

It's got some pretty cool design and models, the animation is a little janky at parts but for a proof of concept really awesome work! I would make the alien and the robot have slightly different voices though, very similar in sound.
I love the idea of the characters and the fact that the protagonists aren't human, this would be an incredible movie!

This looks amazing, but the cliche story of how robots rebel just doesn't make sense. The only way they could was if someone programmed them to. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much.
An error could just as easily send them loopy, or if they gained a true sense of self.
well, just think about I, Robot
the robots and machines with AI were given the Three Laws, basically telling them to protect humans, obey humans, and protect themselves as long as doing so didn't violate the first and second laws. and they moved against humans because one machine, the entity VIKI, came to the conclusion, through its AI, that humans were too self-destructive to be allowed to remain in control, so in order to follow the Three Laws logically, they needed to take over to protect humanity
solarphoenix999 In the Will Smith movie, the supercomputer violates the second law.
The actual book by the same title features several short stories that essentially demonstrate the necessity of the three laws or some interesting outcomes of specific situations regarding them. The movie is just special effects.
messyzephyr In the I,Robot movie V.I.K.I's logic is undeniable and based on the first law and specifically the "A robot may not through inaction allow a human being to come to harm." part (if she did not try to take over the world more human would die than if she did) and thus supercedes the other law.
Edouard Metulescu The thing is, this violates the first clause of the first law. Her action will directly cause harm. It doesn't matter that it's less than inaction. These robots do not have the reasoning ability to try to break the rules the least; the 3 laws are absolute. An attempt to break any part of any one of them should destroy the brain that makes such a decision, unless it's superseded by a higher law, and there is no higher law than the first clause of the first law. .
There's another short story (by Isaac Asimov and a part of the 'I, Robot' book) about a world where computers governed by the three laws control the entire world. As part of this, there is of course the possibility of negative results of their actions. This has some very interesting results, but the laws stand firm.
"V.I.K.I's logic is undeniable..." No it's not. She broke the first clause of the first law of the 3 most absolute laws of robotics. It is supported by the second clause, but these rules are written hierarchically and very very carefully. She broke at least one part of all 3 laws, and you say, "V.I.K.I's logic is undeniable..." with so much certainty. You're both clearly wrong. Your logic is as deniable as it gets.
I'm a fan of this kind of sci-fi where it feels far out, other worldly, and extremally advanced. I find this kind of in movies and games like Halo, the Alien franchise, Star Trek, Mass Effect, Oblivion, and Ender's Game.
This needs to be a real movie guys!

it looks strange, but not ugly.
Beauty might be something common to all intelligent life on this universe. After all, natural selection is driven by attracting a mate, and beauty plays a huge role there. Maybe all aliens are cute and hot.
I like how they finally came up a with legitimately badass, 'just plain cool' alien design, and an actually slightly original one at that. Good show.
Robot didn't know the cordinates. Its plan was to tell the alien that he found them and his troops are on the way, then release the alien and make it possible for him to go "save his planet" and then track him. Amazing plan really. I'm quite amazed

There is plenty of movies and shows where aliens have their own wumbo jumbo language and it's never a satisfying experience.
At least make it like the Geth in Mass Effect! Or put subtitles and invent a new language like in The Elder Scrolls Skyrim. Tell me THAT wasn't awesome! And it had an invented language, and they even recorded songs in that language!
Nicolas Alexandru omfg, it was not awesome. The song and the shouts were cool because they weren't like... really overexaturated... until you got to Paarthanax who had to remind you 'look, dragons have their own language.' and constantly throw dragon language in the middle of his english sentence.

Alright but who do I have to assassinate to get a full length feature film of this???? Because the character designs and their voices are BEAUTIFUL. The soud effects are techno smooth too, aesthetic with surround headphones. I love how the villain is the flat toned machine and the hero is a alien. And a beautiful one too. Loved their voices. What I'd give to see more now.

It says Solar System. Therefore, it must be Earth.
The Creeper The correct term is Planetary System. A Star System is a collection of stars which orbit eachother. However, a lot of people confuse the name "Solar System" with the correct term Planetary System for other collections of planets outside Sol.
That's why I believe the planet in this film is not Earth and the system is not Sol; despite the Rh'a saying Solar System.

Wow, this was done way back in 2013. I remember when I first watched this, still by far my favorite CGI animation. Really hope this becomes a movie in the future!
