This was hard to watch. I can remember our dark 2008-2015 era very well... In particularly 186 and 148 point smashing’s in the hands of Geelong and Essendon. Every time we won a game, we would celebrate like it’s a grand final, because we didn’t see these wins very often. 2017 was no better, having a decent season all year long and then not making finals by the slightest of percentages. So much heartbreak over the years… And now, it’s 2021. We’ve finally done it! LET’S GO!!!
The cracks were already there. We lost Barassi. We’d lost to St Kilda for the first time in ages under Smith before the sacking. We were about to fail no matter what. And no offence, Norm Smith is not that bitter type of person to spite a club over that. In the interview he said he was Melbourne through and through. Then he got his job back. We still failed.
Melbourne knocked out two curses with one stone in the 2021 AFL Grand Final in Perth: Ron Barassi leaving for Carlton and the shock sack of Norm Smith.
Is the curse over ? It took a grand final at Optus in Perth not the MCG which has Norm Smith's statue out the front to see Melbourne's first flag since 1964. So in Melbourne itself the curse could be still alive As with the Colliwobbles, Collingwood have not won a grand final in September since 1958, only on the rare moment in October (1990,2010).
@@bradgreen6079 if they start a dynasty that'll shut up the critics, one thing is certain Collingwood will always choke in grand finals. They will never have a dynasty again.
Nope it’s over. A grand final win is definitely something no fan in their right mind would see as a negative. It’s like being a storm fan and being angry that it’s played in Sydney. It’s just what it is. Most fans wouldn’t have been able to get a ticket, so it’s exactly as most fans would have watched it: on tv. Winning a premiership and breaking a drought? No fan would turn their nose up at that. The curse is 100% gone. No Collingwood fan would give a rats ass about not winning it in September. It’s a premiership, who cares where or when it’s won? Most St Kilda fans would have killed for this. Now they have the biggest drought
It doesn’t exist. There is no proof he ever said that. To believe it, you would have to believe he retuned and played under his own curse. This was a Wikipedia invention by people looking for excuses for not being good enough
Who ever does these voice overs is amazing. He has done great voice overs for at least a decade now
Sounds a bit like Roddy Mullinar
Pretty sure it’s actually Neil Kearney, they would’ve added some effects to make us voice a bit deeper for the promos
@@syc9675 yes Rod Mullinar
I could watch this over and over again
I have!

That’s creepy as fuck you serious?
@@roadrunner6355 yeh i checked myself how crazy is that
@@nitrobreed yeah I just searched it before maybe it was a curse lol
Oh damn that's actually true

this is genuinely so badass
Love when they do these types of videos come finals time!
Essendon also have a Curse that's Currently Active, The Kevin Sheedy Curse in which the Seniors could never Win a Final after he'd left in 2007.
DItto for Carlton since their last AFL flag was in 1995.
I remember this video before the bounce. At this moment, I knew it was our time
We broke the curse!🎉🎉🎉
the curse is still Alive
Why was norm Smith sacked in the first place
love you Norm
Who knows? St. Kilda could be next to have their fog completely lifted.

Did I hear wrong in 1965 Essendon were the reigning premiers
At the end of 1965 Essendon were the premiers, Melbourne were the reigning premiers during 1965
Just what Australia needs right now: a resurgence of superstition. Thanks channel 7.

Memo to Channel 7: you forgot the Chicago Cubs. Milwaukee Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Arizona Cardinals, and Detroit Lions.

Nah curse is done mate Petracca buried it. It doesn’t have a geographical boundary. MCG, Tokyo, London or Perth the Demons have eliminated the curse

Not a good idea to call your team "Demons".
It's like naming your ship Titanic or Marie Celeste, or calling your superhero "Superman" - all gods.
They were the Demons during their most successful era, so that makes no sense.
