Great breakdown of the triplet shuffle but...and there is always a but...I wish you would have continued the shuffle beat for the rest of the minute instead of adding in the flourish.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! That moment of incredulous, jaw-dropping, you-gotta-be-kidding-me, this-I-GOTTA-see, etc when I read the notification of this lesson made me forget all the cares of my day. Your quick chuckling comment of "seems like sacrilege to try to do this in a minute" restored my faith in you. Rosanna was being A Fool In The Rain, but when her other Babylon Sisters found her, they had to take her Walking On The Moon before they could get her to come Home At Last.
Love me a good halftime shuffle and I'm with toptrump on this - been playing nothing but fool in the rain for the last two weeks and I only just managed to stop it kicking my rear end. Worth it though!
@@dean4662 ?! There's LOADS of good drum practice you can do away from the kit! But in the long-run if you're going to learn any instrument you'll need regular access to it.

No. The ghosted notes are technically one quarter note apart I guess, but I don't personally find that a helpful factor to focus on when building this up with students tbh. @@MikeBarnesDrums Wow...Thanks for the link. This groove is driving me bonkers...but in a good way. I look forward to experiencing my Ah-Ha moment with this one.
@@MidwesternCornbilly Tell me about it. I had my "Ah-Ha" moment for Fool in the Rain, after 3 years of "hit and miss". Now, this Rosanna beat is slowly coming together, especially with Mike's help. However, when I get frustrated, I revert to more familiar 4/4 or 7/8 beats -- or even the Bonham shuffle -- and groove on those. Fool in the Rain still mocks me, however, as I cannot grasp the middle part of the tune. As a drummer, I am a veteran, but have conveniently ignored these shuffles for decades. Time to face the music, lol.

This took me two months to play cleanly, no way one minute XD
Ha, not saying anyone would learn it in one minute :) Thanks for watching man!
Mike Barnes Drums no worries, keep up the good content. Any chance you can do a cover of seven days by sting on the grade 8 trinity syllabus

Succinct explanation. This is such a cool groove, too. Excellent video.
Bloody marvellous. Thank you
Always awesome, Mike. Cheers
nice explaination!! thanks for the vid
I don't know why it's in quotations. In a thousand years they'll still be calling it the Purdie shuffle
Lovely groove there Mike, flowing beautifully

Don’t worry about those ghost notes. They ain’t nothing but rebound!
Haha! Yes he did say that!
Great video 👍
I've always wondered, do you double up on those ghost notes? They're coming out like machine gun fire!
No, just clean single strikes - as quiet as possible while still staying clean hits. Cheers!
Not as easy as you make it look, but better lesson than the clinics bernard did himself
