You did a great job, but there are 3 technical mistakes. 1) You absolutely must build a chimney, and it must be made of stone or mud brick. Otherwise, you could burn down the forest. 2) There's a chimney for the hearth, but no ventilation hole. 3) You used grass on the floor and steps. This reduces the oxygen in your 2 m³ shelter. Similarly, you shouldn't light candles for illumination. Oxygen is already insufficient; you could die. Additionally, in the event of heavy rainfall, the shelter could turn into a water well.
If he added clay mud between the roof logs and a waterproof tarp, it should be just fine. Agree on the candles but it was for illustration purposes I'd assume. Agree on the chimney. I've seen either him or someone else use a hollowed out stump.
Actually, I was thinking the OSHA specs for holes that deep to be safe without the walls crumbling in. That's a lot of faith to put into some heavily disturbed clay, j/s. Seriously, anyone who tries this, don't get buried alive. There are simple equations that can be caluculated with the help of a measuring tape and calculator app and they're findable online.
That’s what i said! 😂 the short shovel and hatchet for tree roots in the first place was adequate, but why fuck your back up? Get a long shovel and a stumping pick axe ⛏️, probably 3x faster.
This is just an internet idiot trying to convince the uneducated that he built something meaningful. I don't think it would even require rain, just a few passes across the roof. He did not do the 2/3's rule with his roof beams. A cross support should have 1/3 of its length going into the ground on either side and only 1/3 covering the living space. This is before you talk about it only being 12-18 inches into the ground.
Nah, they'd soon see the other 3 men with shovels sitting behind the camera drinking coffee in a truck full of pre cut logs and realise it's a social media stunt. In my opinion, of course.
The shelter turned out very well. Excellent work. However, something very important was missing. An air inlet for ventilation. Staying inside for too long with the fire burning could be dangerous.
Dude... The way you hack with that hatchet you're going to take off a digital or a limb At minimum cut into the bone.. somewhere around 1 minute 38 seconds in the video You missed that root and barely missed your ankle You got to slow the hell down dude... Ive lived my life with those hatchets and I imagine yours are sharper than most. You're hacking like a wild man You're going pay the price..
Why do people have to be so quick to be critical? I think this is really amazing and something I wouldn’t be able to accomplish. I’m sure he’ll be tweaking and tuning-is something like this ever truly finished? I don’t think so. I just find it incredible.
Dude those cut patterns are to clean from just an axe. You can easily tell it’s from a chainsaw lol. I’m willing to bet there’s a backhoe or excavator in the background he used to dig that deep
@Phil-j7tThe side of the wall was way too smooth for that little as shovel. I immediately thought machinery, plus it would have taken 200 days to dig out that ditch by hand.
Yeah when he almost got his foot, I even flinched back and was like oooo dude cut away but at least he learned quick and readjust his stance immediately

Interesting, too, what he's got with him, isn't it? Aluminum foil, tea lights, wrapped meat, vegetables... You have to have all that with you if you want to spend hours building a "secret" survival shelter. How secret will the shelter be when smoke is coming out of the ground?
i've built an underground bunker, a fort and a teepee when I was a kid. But your skills are several levels above anything I even considered. well done.
@overused6632 agreed. worst is I lived really close to the Mississippi. When it flooded, my buddies and I, ages 5-8, would build a raft and raft the flood waters as they entered town, then when they rejoined the river channel, we would swim back to shore and hike the 8+ miles back home.
You're too imaginative to go to places like that. I slept 18 hours in one like tbis, felt great all day too. In the infantry we once slept in 2 feet of snow inside large polythene bags, and was actually warm we were waiting to spring an ambush and l fell asleep, then all of a sudden some thunderflashes on trip wires woke me up fast and the flares, and GPMGs rattling away. Lol
IF you don't know much about it, yes. His shelter has myriad problems. His roof's cross supports are too short, he did not add any protection for the chimney, he did not lash his roof together (nor use the clay looking sediment to seal it, he did not debark any of the wood in the shelter but put in wood flooring. One serious rain storm and it is washed out.
I'm only about halfway through the video but wanted say I am so amazed I can't stop watching lol. I wish I had talent and the ingenuity and creativity to properly build stuff like this. if I'm ever on survivor I want this guy to be my partner 😂. And reading some of the comments it's sad and unfortunate that they can't appreciate or find beauty in what ur doing. I hope you don't stop coming up with different thing to build and thank you so much for not only showing what you made but step by step how it was done. God bless❤
Polissya is an area partly in Ukraine/Belarus/Poland that is low lying wetlands and forest. That spot he digs in looks like compressed sand topped by soil/leaf litter. Something must have changed there not too long ago and a forest began to grow and we see couple meters of sand (I think) now covered by dark soil and leaf litter. Im not a pro geologist so if one comes along maybe they can give a better answer what we see here and why it’s so easy to dig.

This secret shelter between two oak trees is a great idea! Your ingenuity and survival skills are always impressive. It reminds me of my previous adventure where I built that awesome underground shelter. I can't wait to see where your next adventure takes us!"
we use to do this as kids 45 years ago, my brother was a master builder, made the coolest treehouses, 3 stories in a tree, to the most awesome underground forts, huge and decked out, was a ton of fun to camp in them, nothing like the deep Northern Maine woods either, those were the days, no stupid electronics and internet, we didn't need all that shit, sometimes simpler is just better.
This is my favourite one yet! I particularly love how you chopped the log discs into smaller bits to fill the gaps on the floor, which I don't recall you doing in any of your videos before. Also... 37:34 rawr! LOL
I am very impressed I am sitting up here stuck to my wall watching this on my projector like I don't know what I'm thinking but this guy just got a new subscriber I am really learning something right now if I got lost in the woods this is something I would have to be able to survive until I am found😮😮😮
Nice job. Lived in similar for a few days at a time in Brecon Beacons years ago & loved it. Pre dug proper trenches that were used in all weathers. Wouldn't be surprised if they are still there & used today.
Next time you wrap your food in tinfoil, put a layer of parchment paper between the food and the tinfoil. That will prevent the food from sticking, and also make sure you don't get tinfoil in your food. Love the video!
Yea but where did the foil come from? Seems like he uses what's available to build the place, but then needs some 21st century materials when cooking and eating. And Ribs? Seriously? Is he TRYING to call his neighbor, the Bear?
This is the kind of shit I was trying to do when I was 10 years old but failed miserably lol
that what an older brother is for, mine made the mansions of all treehouses and bunkers.
They just became GI Joe forts instead
I think 🤔 we all tried to and failed 😞 however I can always start a fire in any situation!
That's because it's fort building for grown ups, you start out with couch cushions and blankets
And you’re probably still alive because you didn’t get buried.
imagine just walking through the woods and all of a sudden smelling baked potatoes and seeing smoke coming out of the ground
I'll assume I've stumbled across one of the Hobbit's dwellings.
Why would someone want to imagine some stupid shit like that
@Disco - 😂😂🤣🤣
Hmm ?
A hobbit ???
🤣🤣🤣

He builds it and forgets it 10 minutes after building it
and it’s also uncomfortable to sleep there because you can’t stretch your legs.
@ДжекДжек-щ6г- In a survial situation, this is very comfortable.
Only problem is you will not have 2 trees there within a year or so, chopping out those main roots are almost certainly going to kill those trees
😴
😂😂 ok 🤦🏻♂️
Nope. The tree won't be died
@greatwoblex they may not.
But could easily. That’s the point.
Yeah they may turn into zombie trees
Mezar gibi resmen ruhum daraldı 😅
Thumbnails led me to believe it would be 2 bdrm & 1 bath, not a studio. Plus no mention of the HOA

Ya, that will keep the nuclear fallout and ensuing winter at bay for at least 2-3 months

I agree with you😂😂😂
Other than misleading thumbnail photo, still good display of skills and hard work
What was misleading about it
@jesselangeland7933nothing like the actual one he dug, multiple rooms etc.
@davidwright9166oh i thought it was obvious cause it would be impossible to make that one without it falling apart

He’s probably been doing this for years and years
@Андрій-я1оwho are you
@S-sp2feMy back hurt watching this.
Show us what it looks like after a week of heavy rain.
Identical, it was very good roof isolation with few layers of bark, soil, moss, leaves.
@hiddenstorypl6688but chimney will allow water completely
И, если в отверстие, откуда идет дым, пападет вода
This is just an internet idiot trying to convince the uneducated that he built something meaningful. I don't think it would even require rain, just a few passes across the roof. He did not do the 2/3's rule with his roof beams. A cross support should have 1/3 of its length going into the ground on either side and only 1/3 covering the living space. I saw anither undergroundbu ker built just like this. Not only did it last through the rain, lasted through heavy deep snow and the spring melt off...
아침에 보고있는데 정말 재미있고 신박해요
나중에 다른것도봐야겠어요!!😊😊❤❤..
Can’t think of how strange would be to be walking through the woods and seeing smoke come out of the ground lol great job
Fun Fact: Giant oaks can drink 500 gallons of water daily
and then some wind blows the leafs into and clogs your chimney and you're done.
What will be more amazing is when you pull back the tarp and find a large spider smoking a peace pipe with a grasshopper.
Basic people don't connect with nature, so this bro doesn't have to worry about it. Nobody will ever find this.
@DNHarrisWow...I only had that happen once but ill never forget
Watching these videos make me wanna build a little house in the woods but also I’m so incredibly lazy 😂
so true XD
😂😂😂
Not me…unless he builds a bathroom too!
😂😂😂😂

Didn’t brush his teeth either.
Candles will deplete the oxygen... Don't sleep with candles burning, and open the vent slightly.
he blew out candles at end
And CO2 can kill you too because its heavier than air
37:40 here
@_LASERZZYes, my friend, but this is general advice, not just for him, but for everyone. Best regards.
Ya sé
Dude never looks fatigued or tired. Very impressive my man!
Keep up the good work!
11:07
Imagine someone stumbled upon him at around the 3 minute mark. They’d think he’s digging a grave and get outta there
By the size of the grave, you know he’s down to kill lots of people at once.
Haha
I would have had some choice words for him that may have resulted in needing a grave.
Nah, they'd soon see the other 3 men with shovels sitting behind the camera drinking coffee in a truck full of pre cut logs and realise it's a social media stunt. In my opinion, of course.
It will be a grave for whoever trips and falls in there.
The shelter turned out very well. Excellent work. However, something very important was missing. An air inlet for ventilation. Staying inside for too long with the fire burning could be dangerous.

Don't worry, that shelter is NOT airtight. The fire is sucking in air through the roof. LOL

Better off with a folding saw
Respect to him, and the other 20 guys that helped him building this on that loamy soil 😉
Fascinating. And so much more natural without music added.

"HOW to Survive " for Dummies
Who said he's alone?
Interesting, too, what he's got with him, isn't it? Aluminum foil, tea lights, wrapped meat, vegetables... You have to have all that with you if you want to spend hours building a "secret" survival shelter. How secret will the shelter be when smoke is coming out of the ground?
@christophkura9470 This sounds like you've built a ton of underground shelters with a fireplace too. You must've also hunted for your food too!
@Yeahwhatevah you
In just one week, when it rains, this whole thing will be full of water.
Стоило ли рубить корни деревьев и копать яму, нарушая лесную жизнь.
Why? Is he trying to suffocate? No vents
Carl was asked why it filled with water, he said it ain't got any dirt in it.
А действительно, как сделать чтоб избежать затопления водой?
Если пойдут дожди, жаль если заполнит водой, и как этого избежать?
Me: walking through the woods. Me: seeing smoke coming out of the ground. Me: thinking I ate too many mushrooms
Mesmerized by the build. Impressed by the videography. Entertained by the comments. A joy to watch as usual. Thanks!
Just wondering how you prevent flooding when it rains
exactly. in the first rain he will have a nice pool!!!!
I would've tarped the roof. But still going to have oxygen problems
Good question actually
These videos are purely for content and entertainment, I highly doubt he ever uses it for shelter, not even for one full night.
Very simple. You just go to a hotel.
What a beautiful shelter, fire and meal! Thanks for sharing the methodology with us anonymous interested and safe travels!
i've built an underground bunker, a fort and a teepee when I was a kid.
I love that the shelves with the candles above the fireplace made it look like a spooky face
You're too imaginative to go to places like that.
I slept 18 hours in one like tbis, felt great all day too.

Дуже круто. Дякую за цікаве відео!
Great job! Need a fresh air vent to replace that air you burn off though. Might have a nap longer than you planned on if ya don’t. Very cool!
A forever nap
Amazing woodsman ,sawyer, and survivalist . Impressive!

It’s the chimney that is the most difficult to keep secret. Try putting fireplace exit vent in a hollow tree for secrecy.
