The English need to start embracing and celebrating St George's Day again!
Why? He never set foot on the British ilses and England wasn't even a country when he died and he doesn't even have English blood.

Agreed. It should always be up! Every home should have a flag pole that will only be allowed to fly the Union Flag and not one of the other crap ones should ever be officially flown. London is one of the most diverse capitals in the world regarding race and gender identity. I am much more proud of how progressive London is compared to the backward nature of the rest of the provincial country. Judging by the ignorance, thick stupidity and zenophobia of people being interviewed here I am right! This is not a good advert for Nottingham and I certainly will be boycotting any visits there.

I'm Dutch; I live in Nottingham and I love the St. Georges flag! People should be proud of their heritage. Of course there are some who don't agree with it, but they shouldn't complain, if they are guests in this country. If you don't like it look the other way!

Oh well done Nottingham City. I'm English and was taught in my school (some time ago now) to love my country and be a good citizen. I would love to know if any foreigners who settled here can 'understand and have sympathy with' how some English or British feel? I'm sure some must do. This is the country I was born and grew up in, it's in my heart, and it's the country that my grandfather went to war for, to fight for its Freedom. But I now sometimes feel like an outsider. This is very sad to me. So my thanks and admiration go to the good people of Nottingham. We should have the right to fly our flag, as every other country does! God bless Wales, Scotland and Ireland too. These islands should be treasured by us.

I always thought I was British even threw years of watching the right wing nut swear and attack my parents, just for being brown. Saturday night was P bashing night and the evenings was feared. I actually and many like me grew up with hatred towards the white man because of these nuts. But then at 21 I found my love a English girl. We been married 17 years with 4 kids. Never forced my religion on her we was married 4 years before she decided to convert to Islam though we both don't practice almost half as mich as we should but God willing. 4 children in and many ups and downs as is married life over senseless things such as bills and holidays we still together and hope to grow old together. Once my child welt to school and for no reason was bullied and called a oreo from some council estate kid. I told my kid ignore the lesser civilised folk of Britain because after meeting their mum I too realised there are many decent white people who don't judge by the colour of one's skin but take time to actually get to know a person. Not my mother in law however, I swear she's a witch and I don't blame my father in law from running from her. He's a good man and embraced me openly with a strict order to always keep his daughter safe of which my word is given. So I ask you again, now as a grown man who owns a building site and employs 6 white men 3 black men and 2 brown each on the merits of their work. How do I judge what makes someone British?
