You can absolutely tell Jake is not a fan of the other metro games or hasn't played much of them. This game nails the metro vibe with just a few short misgivings. Plus, the metro games are known for their stealth and if you are used to them, you absolutely know what to expect with the stealth in this one. You just have to be more stealthy than you normally would in a game. Also, instead of punching enemies in the back of the head, just use the butt of your pistol like you would see in movies. 9/10 that works just fine and is pretty satisfying. I enjoyed being in the Metro again; I wasn't a huge fan of Exodus going open world despite its beauty (it maintained the slow movement and it didn't work), but 2033 and Last Light still have an edge due to a bit more variety. The biggest issue, though, is how any movement as you're holding a gun makes your hands excessively wiggle to an unrealistic degree, and I'm not sure if it was a bug or not. I doubt I'll play through it again unless I get it on PSVR2, which I might do, but yeah, one of my favorite VR games to date.

Thanks for more VR content Jake! Even if this doens't perform as well as flatscreen gaming, the way it will grow is with continued coverage and better games of course

We’re still in that tech demo stage for VR games, other than the resident evil games, we don’t have real games in vr, but this year has been kinda cool
Its a real shame VR has not taken off like it should yet. Imo VR is the future of gaming. Especially as the graphics and ease of use get better and better.
Just played yesterday a few hours on the Psvr2. I think this could become my favourite Metro game. The immersion is amazing and I love how scary this game is in vr. Can’t wait to continue playing after work.
The only Metro game I have played is Last Light and I thoroughly enjoyed it back when it came out. I decided to purchase this over the weekend and was able to beat the first couple of missions. I am VERY impressed, this is an amazing experience., the ambience, creatures and oppressive mood fit the series perfectly. The only downside is the materials/textures are all pretty low res, maybe someone can mod the game and upscale them in the future for those with the hardware to run it. Playing on an RTX 4080 and Valve Index.
Got the game and I enjoyed it. The gunplay was fun and charging electronics never really got old to me. However, some other aspects felt repetitive. Especially towards the end. The gameplay loop of explore tunnels, shoot things, ride track, get knocked out, repeat starts to wear out its welcome but I wouldn’t call it game breaking or anything. I also agree with it being very exposition/dialog heavy. Any tension I felt wondering the long dark metro is ruined by constant radio chatter. Other than that, I liked it and would recommend it if you’re into post apocalyptic survival type horror/action.
On the machine gun, you can see how many bullets are left by looking at the clip. You can see through the sides of it and it shows how many bullets are left
@gameranxTV no problem the only gun that's kind of hard to see how many bullets you have left is the pistol but all the other weapons you can see your ammo count by looking at the gun
This is excellent content. I appreciate the honesty and truth bombs here. I have been waiting for a new AAA VR game to play and it looks like I will need to wait a bit longer.
It's funny that Into the Radius was going for a STALKER/METRO style game and more or less pulled it off perfectly with a one man team. (Slavik jank included) Arguably better than Metro VR itself.
Hopefully we can see more VR content on this channel 👍Plp have had some issues on pc so I think I'm going to get it on ps5. Also the haptics usually is somtehing else.
You do have the classic led on the watch that lights up when you're visible... Dunno if you can turn off light sources but lights are the core of metro stealth
I'm currently playing Alyx and I'm loving it! Of course it's a bit slow walking but man, as a game artist myself, I LOVE the detail. So this Metro game is right up my alley.
I bought it and played it for a few hours today. So far, it’s a fantastic game, and I feel like you don’t give it enough credit. Yes there are some imperfections, but I feel like the imperfections really are pretty easy to overlook unless your career is to nitpick video games. But for average everyday people they’re pretty easy to overlook.
Can't think of a better game for VR experience. Metro is kind of like peak First Person immersion, even when it's not VR. Maybe Ready or Not kind of comes close, but it's like a body cam game.
Metro is very good. If I had to recommend one it would be Metro last light. There is the "redux" version for PlayStation which I think comes with the first 2. Last light is the 2nd one but it feels like it is almost a reboot and follows the original book better, even though it is the sequel within the video game series. A lot of people like exodus but on console at the time of release the controls were kinda wonky but I think it's been patched. Either way, last light is the best one.
I'd say they are worth it. The first game is more spooky to me, but that is due to reading the books ahead of playing the games. The second (Last Light) is slightly less spooky, and the third (Exodus) is even less spooky. Still I like Last Light the most of the 3. That said you can buy Metro Redux and get Metro 1 and Last Light at the same time.

Cool to see devs finally figuring out that people want more than tech demos and minigames out of their 500+$ headsets.
I will personally wait till this game goes on sale. 50$ CAD is just a lot. I loved exodus and felt like the atmosphere of the game was the best in any game I’ve played. Everything felt so real and immersive
1:20 jakey my boy you gotta reload before you go doing that.
Man I just can't do horror and jumpscares and creatures that lunge at you directly in VR lmao. It's too intense. Like it's not so bad in a video like this but I can already imagine it with my own headset.
You guys are workhorses! By far my favorite sub on YT.
Looks awesome! loved the metro games. the lack of hud elements like the ammo counter, etc actually looks like it's adding on to the immersion factor like what the ranger mode did for the first three games. thanks for the review!
Thanks for more VR content Jake! Even if this doens't perform as well as flatscreen gaming, the way it will grow is with continued coverage and better games of course
What’s really fun here they aren’t a huge funded game dev like they are a small company and when you take that into account it’s amazing what these guys are doing given they do t have activision budgets type thing it’s just amazing a huge props was to the open world they did with exodus and the DLC’s I always want more and get sad but then wait DLC’s which are just as good as the main story🔥🔥
You know. I wouldn't mind more videos in an ultrawide format : D
Hey we appreciate you!
We’re still in that tech demo stage for VR games, other than the resident evil games, we don’t have real games in vr, but this year has been kinda cool
Amazing, always great to see a VR before you buy.
Gonna play this! I hope the prior games get vr support! The immersion would be insane
Love life, in the metro...
Love to see you all covering quest games.
Glad to see you doing more VR games Jake :-)
Hope you enjoyed this one!
Looks cool, finally give me a reason to use my quest again
I'm always happy to see more in the VR space considering there aren't a lot of games with a lot of replayability
say what? Almost half of the games are roguelike.
Its a real shame VR has not taken off like it should yet. Imo VR is the future of gaming. Especially as the graphics and ease of use get better and better.
If only folks knew about Underworld Overseer VR 😢
Been enjoying that one.
@ChrisCypher you have good taste 👌
This game on the PSVR2 is killer, Haptics Adaptive Triggers OLED, it's the real deal.
Appreciate the vr love with reviewing this. Thank you.
thank you for covering a vr game, we a a niche bunch but appreciate the love
Just played yesterday a few hours on the Psvr2. I think this could become my favourite Metro game. The immersion is amazing and I love how scary this game is in vr. Can’t wait to continue playing after work.
Nice! Glad you’re having fun with this one!
I dont believe it
BELIEVE IT! 👍🏿

Please keep up with the vr content. The more exposure the more the market grows and the more likely big firms will invest.
On the machine gun, you can see how many bullets are left by looking at the clip. You can see through the sides of it and it shows how many bullets are left
Hey thanks for pointing this out!
Man I really hope gaming companies start making more horror style vr games
It's funny that Into the Radius was going for a STALKER/METRO style game and more or less pulled it off perfectly with a one man team. (Slavik jank included) Arguably better than Metro VR itself.
Cm games aren't a single person dev. You're probably confusing it with a guy who released conVRgence .
@@RicardoMenson(his OG game being Paradox Of Hope)
If you enjoy Metro series, you will like it.
7:30 I think this is where devs should take a page from Arkham Shadow with regards to stealth attacks.
I'm currently playing Alyx and I'm loving it! Of course it's a bit slow walking but man, as a game artist myself, I LOVE the detail. So this Metro game is right up my alley.
I can't believe they're back for another Before you buy! But sincerely, I'm glad they are.
VR is the future man. Hope you will do more of these, when some games will evetualy come out. ;)
Great review, hope you make a before you buy of the new VR Alien Game as well.
I've got it pre-ordered on ny Quest 3. Great feedback!
Thanks for watching! :D
Metro is one of the few games where it's more fun to play on the hardest difficulty and play smart and be rewarded for it
I personally feel like if you put it in your "top 10 upcoming games of the month" video, it warrants a before you buy.
In terms of whether or not you should do VR games
Will we be getting a Slitterhead Before You Buy?
Reviews are REALLY bad on opencritic and it's a relatively unknown game so I would think probably not
Here's a review: psychosis fever dream the game with sections of straight up p×rn
For the first time ever I feel the itch to finally get VR. While maybe not totally perfect, this game looks amazing!
Wish you played this on the Quest 3, the developer for some reason has still not fixed some the bugs/glitches on Arizona Sunshine. Game is phenomenal
Skipping this one over?
Hey Gameranx!
Great review man! So excited to play this
Can't think of a better game for VR experience. Metro is kind of like peak First Person immersion, even when it's not VR. Maybe Ready or Not kind of comes close, but it's like a body cam game.
Great video, VR is going places!
How good is the metro franchise? I’ve been thinking of playing spooky )but not scary) games for Halloween
It is great
Any 1 stalker game is 10x better than a call of duty campaign
Metro is very good. If I had to recommend one it would be Metro last light. There is the "redux" version for PlayStation which I think comes with the first 2. Last light is the 2nd one but it feels like it is almost a reboot and follows the original book better, even though it is the sequel within the video game series. A lot of people like exodus but on console at the time of release the controls were kinda wonky but I think it's been patched. Either way, last light is the best one.
@@MacDibs last light follows the second book (Metro 2034.) Metro 2033 is almost exactly the first book, which has the same name.
