  • This video explains a strategy I use called 'anchor words'. Essentially, it's a way of first engaging with a question and ensuring you know exactly what you're being asked to analyse. Anchor words/phrases can be used as a way to develop structure and create cohesion throughout the entire essay - from your thesis statement right through to topic sentences throughout the essay. It really works as a way to not get lost or go off topic.
