Saudi Arabian citizens are languishing in prison, and some have even been sentenced to death. Their crime: they resisted expropriation of their homes for the Neom project, the city of the future built on a 170km line in the desert that is Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman’s pet project.

I love Saudi Arabia and it’s people, I’ve visited multiple times and there are certain neighbourhoods in Jeddah, Riyadh etc where there are very limited resources made available to the public, no pavements, no sanitation, infrastructure. I don’t understand why these areas aren’t developed instead of building a new city in the middle of the desert.
