It's the Black man fathering his children (and many others) for me. The emotional availability is everything. I'm glad the world gets to see him literally kiss and hug his sons and have healthy intimate conversations. It's such a game changer for the culture. And as a Jackson native, the HBCU impact is undeniable.

But being a black father in America where the country took away fatherhood from us and then tried to cripple us from providing and continues to do so... not at all the same thing. The wealth and prosperity of HBCU’s has always been since the beginning. Deion Sanders has entered the arena at a pivotal time in history, not only from an athletic perspective but from a wholistic standpoint of championing for the whole person, mind, body, soul.
HBCU’s and Black people have been continually dishonored and discounted, and unfortunately many of us have taken on these dangerous habits by not having the ability to see the nobility of who we are.
This is key to ultimate success and gaining a knowingness that is unbreakable.
Deion is a man working from the heart for the complete recalibration, renewing and healing of these students who are only under this JSU banner for a moment in time.
He knows what the outside world is about and he also knows that there are many predators in many forms who look to host and take hold of the souls of our youth.
These young men as well as these students will have lives beyond this tutelage of Sanders, staff, and the educational faculty.
These young men have got to see their magnificence independent of football and solely because they are necessary, worthy and divine humans who have been bestowed an inheritance by The Most High.
This assignment at JSU, is going to call a lot of habits and generalizations to task about Black men, black communities, Black mindsets, and Black Excellence.
We know what that the influences of the outside world can do when you are not fortified in self awareness and self LOVE.
These men have an opportunity to set precedent setting standards, values and to lead with a spiritual and emotional maturity that will seal the deal.

Coach Prime could've saved his toes, but he would've been away from his team much, much longer. So instead, he told the doctors that they could take his toes. He wanted to get back to this team, a group of young men (primarily all black) whom he has become a leader and mentor to. In all, he was away only 23 days. That's sacrifice ladies and gentlemen. He learned that from his Lord and Savior. God is good. Much love to Coach Prime. He's being commissioned to do a marvelous work at JSU and beyond!

I never knew Coach Prime had to endure this type of pain, to have a blood clot and also have an amputation occur are pains i never wish NOBODY EVER HAS TO EXPERIENCE. My heart goes out to Coach Prime and his family. I'm an amputee but I'm missing my right leg below the knee from a staph infection that turned into sepsis, I died the first night in the hospital and spent a month in the hospital enduring 7 surgeries and another infection of cellulitis. As I'm writing this I still have not received a prosthetic leg due to the bureaucratic bullshit from insurance companies and its been over 2 years ago since I lost my leg and my way of earning money. Nothing is worse as a man to be forced to retire to nothing.

The wealth and prosperity of HBCU’s has always been since the beginning. Deion Sanders has entered the arena at a pivotal time in history, not only from an athletic perspective but from a wholistic standpoint of championing the whole person, mind, body, soul. This man is working from the heart for the complete recalibration, renewing and healing of these students who are only under this JSU banner for a moment in time. They will have lives beyond this tutelage. These young men have got to see their magnificence independent of football and solely because they are necessary, worthy and divine humans who have been bestowed an inheritance by The Most High. This assignment at JSU, is going to call a lot of habits and generalizations to task about Black men, black communities and the influences of the outside world. These men have an opportunity to set precedent setting standards, values and to lead with an emotional maturity that will seal the deal.

To fight through what we all know is unbearable pain after two toes GONE, the nerves attached to them. Thank you Coach Prime for your faith, leadership and character! I'm totally hooked on this series and ❤what you're building at JSU and HBCUs across the country. I 👀 why young men are drawn to you! Not only can you relate, but you genuinely care, and you're confident in your ability to deliver what these young men want and need. First, you love them for who they are and I know they feel it when you speak (because you've been there and done that). Second, you then challenge them & if they accept, commit to developing them into great men on and off the field (again, you've been there, done that). The mere fact that you called Pacman "your son" AND introduced him to Malachi while still in the hospital blew my mind! Who does that? Most people are focused on going home. You were focused on pouring into a young man's life. Nuff said! Because of examples like this, young men 👀 the bigger picture and fall in ❤with everything you're about including the process. Keepin' it 💯. I shed a few tears listening to you describe how hard it was being in that chair, needing help for everything imaginable. Hearing you talk about not wanting help and wanting to take things as a man got me hella emotional. Just know as a Black man, a father and Howard alum, I'm so proud of you, and what you stand for. I ride with the God that sent you, you & the JSU community and the HBCU movement as a whole! Now somebody play Coach's theme🎵!!!
