its meant to be comical but you can tell this is a heartfelt homage to Jerry Lewis who was undoubtedly one of McFarland’s inspirations. Well done and well dedicated. Seth keeps the old feeling new and appreciated
I wondered how many people really actually knew that this was originally from a Jerry Lewis Movie with the Count Basie Orchestra doing the music from the 1961 movie, The Errand Boy!!
I can’t believe there were parts i didn’t see in one of my all time favorite episode of family guy I implore u go back and rewatch this episode (if u have Hulu) there were parts taken out to I guess shorten the length of the show?? But why tho??? there was parts I didn’t even see like there were extra bits in that diaper scene than I knew and the yoga part and the sui-de part in this it’s crazy lmao 😂 I love it regardless especially this l, Peter is a slowly becoming one of my favorite characters the way he moves in this from the fluidity of the movement to the aesthetic sound reminds me of the pink panther and that’s just so cool to me lol
it's homage, not parody. Pinky and the Brain did the same thing with Orson Welles. Word for word copy of him berating a sound engineer on a commercial.
It's just supposed to amusing that both Peter and Jerry create the illusion of acting out and saying actual words, when really they're just mimicking the sounds of the music.
The fact that Jerry Lewis is more animated then Peter Griffin is just amazing. Lewis will always be in the greatest of comedy hall of fame
One of the greatest animated pieces of (copied) art in my opinion
Blues in Hoss Flat by the Count Basie Orchestra......Brilliant!
Man I’ve been trying to replicate this scene for years
The moment Seth MacFarlane proved he’s legit.
Love the way Peter lights that match
Not just the video but if you see the real video the jazz band is so amazing with articulating the nice swing jazzy feel.
I think that the music is the original track.

@@derrickburwell7777 It is. Whoops 😅
@@fuckamericanidiot It's the Count Basie orchestra.
@@lawrencelewis2592 , yes...a slightly truncated Blues in Hoss Flat.

This evening I watched a superb big band do this song in it's earlier longer arrangement. Made my day for sure.
I consider this to be in league with Shipoopi and Mr Booze
Or "We got trouble!" and "No Name City" .
is really immpresive the nuance in the animation specially for a show that is infamous for it low budget animation.
The animation is far from low budget. It's just that for the last few years, it's been rightly criticized for being generally stiff and lifeless.
I have no idea why I like this so much
This says a lot about society
Why is this not in the episode anymore.
2:08
Probably because no one understood it
Probably because of needing to trim the episode length down, and while this bit is awesome, it's not essential to the story.
It's on Hulu version
Jerry Lewis state sued?
This where the meme is from. This does indeed say a lot about society

I'm Just Royal :/ sounds like ‘blues in hoss flat’ because i played that song xD
@@frogg002 it is lol

0:57 when it gets good
0:27 is when it gets good, the build up is deliciously classy
That old episode could has been Peter’s cutback.
It just doesn’t feel as good because it’s not Jerry Lewis.
I need a HW version of this I swear to god!!!
When he said Peggy I thought the scene was inspired by mad men
is that Count Basie on piano
yes, count basie orchestra
Thank you.
Goes so god damn hard
Jerry Lewis!!!!!!!
I mean, I know theyre tongue and cheek saying they stole it... But they did? They didn't add or parody any of it, they just duplicated it.
it's homage, not parody. Pinky and the Brain did the same thing with Orson Welles. Word for word copy of him berating a sound engineer on a commercial.
Why mono?
This is me right here😅😅😅😅 I'm old school
I’ve watched both the original scene and the family guy version. Now can someone explain to me why it’s supposed to be funny in the first place?
It's just supposed to amusing that both Peter and Jerry create the illusion of acting out and saying actual words, when really they're just mimicking the sounds of the music.
If we have to explain it to you, then is not funny.
It’s also funny in the way of family guy, that they straight ripped off a scene from 60 years ago. It was totally unnecessary also xD
Great song, but this bit sucked it was cringy, the original was ok I guess
This says a lot about society
And yet we live in one 1:17
