Magnificent! It is gratifying to see how you managed to improve an ordinary battery and expand its capacity by 50% without visible modifications. I have seen that some modify unused batteries to be able to connect them to AC with a notebook charger, it is possible to do it with the battery you show in the video. There are times when I'm home and the batteries are completely discharged, I need to do some quick work and it would be great to be able to plug it into AC and get started right away. In the videos I have seen the batteries only have a positive and negative cable, but Einhell and Parkside have batteries with similar structures. Thanks for your time.
It is very nice if you can do it (not difficult), a good experience btw. But honestly, with all the respect I wouldn't do that transition of 1000mAh. It costs more than if you would buy a 4000mAh. Now the process of upgrading your battery is what it is all this movie about... Well done 👍🏼
@@hehuha93 You’re right for the cheap ones, but for these six browns with QR on them you have to pay three times as much, as this is one of the few decent brands of Lithium ion batteries behind the Great Wall and Firewall.
Parkside batteries have a lower capacity than 18650HG2 but have lower internal resistance than 18650HG2 produced in China, so an original Parkside battery supports higher currents than 18650HG2.
I've done the same with the 12V version, but the main aim was achieve the same power of the 4Ah version using less resistance cells, I used the Sony VTC-5, everything went well: low weight and high power.
Hi, friend. Just a question: the VTC5 is a high drain battery (30 amps) commonly used in vaping devices and it is completely different from the 18650's used in flashlights or in laser pointers, which are low drain batteries (maybe around 4 amps). Does it make any difference between using high or low drain batteries to do this type of update to our drill battery? I've heard if you don't use the proper battery, you could have some problems, maybe overheating while using it or something else "not good" for your drill, but IDK it for sure, so i'm asking. What do you think?
@@N8SANZ the lower the impedance the better current battery, the motors are really hungry of current :) If you use low current battery the tool is weak, the manufacturer usually give the possibility to use a bigger battery with parallels of 2 or more elements, in this case is not so critical the quality of the single cell.
Use high drain cells ! The higher Ah is not usefull ! High drain and not the high Ah (with worse not low inner resistant) cells. Ok ? If you spot weld try to weld 3 times to contact the nickel plate for better electril current. But 2 times spot weldeing is common.
@@handballfield6326 a cordless drill when in use, like drilling concrete or metal, draws a lot of current. if you use low discharge current cells, the tool will not have the demanded power and will stop all the time. the higher the capacity of a battery (say 3500mah) the lower the discharge current. you want a cell that both has higher capacitry and high discharge current. 18650 have reached 4000mah in capacity but with only 4amps of discharge. this battery is only suited for a flashlight where discharge current is already low. for a power tool, you can get a 3000 mah battery with 30 amp discharge current.
Did you reset the fuel gauge ic in the battery pack or is this a simple bms without fuel gauge? (fuel gauge= the ic logging the decreasing battery capacity and not letting more charge in than the decreased capacity)
Great conversion but problem is that these 300mah batteries have a max 20A discharge rate. Lower 2000-2500 mah can go up to 30-35A discharge. The battery discharge rate is more important as this will give your tool power. Now you have 5x18650 say 20volt at 20A discharge is max 400watt discharge power. when using a 2000mah or 2500mah at 30A the discharge rate is 20V x 30A = 600 watt. Using these batteries the battery does last longer but your tool has far less power.
U are right, but Parkside DC motor can not stand 20A+ current. In this case the higher capacity is better than the higher discharge rate because it lasts longer.😉
@@norbithehun it's about peak power not continuous. When you press the button then the voltage will drop a lot and the tool will disable itself. Also the batteries has a max output of 20A but it is a peak current and not continuous their capacity drops when more current is pulled and this leads to lower capacity (and higher voltage drop). When the battery is left without using it then it will restore it's capacity in some time. Except when your tool needs a low power let's say a LED lamp then you will need more capacity so it can last longer. That is the reason the performance batteries are 21700 cells because they have more current output and greater capacity at higher current draw (again not for the huge capacity ones like 5Ah+).
@@power3516 I wouldn't trust that Chinese rating. I will only be for relatively short pulses. You need a high CDC Continuous Discharge Current rating. The are no standards for a pulse rating. The original cells performance is very similar to the Samsung 25Q
