Agree. Having skills like Keith is job security and longevity into the future regardless of what happens in Tech as it continues to evolve. Anyone can be a Ticktocker and that’s temporary in social media and as things rapidly change.
The most important thing here was the mind-blowing revelation that the base MAC of the entire switch ,was NOT the Mac of the port. Thanks for this learning nugget not clearly specified in netacad. Another used for the

Correct me if i'm wrong, 5:55 Because SW2 has a root path cost of 4 and SW3 has a root path cost of 4, the tiebreaker is compare the Bridge ID of SW2 and SW3. And SW2 wins because 7 is less than c in hex. But if SW2 1/1 was f1/1 instead of g1/1, the root path cost of SW2 would be 8 because SW2 choose g2/0 as root port, and it sums SW1 root path cost with 4, and it is 8. In that case SW3 g2/1 will be a DP instead of BP, because SW3 has less root path cost (rpc 4) than SW2 (rpc 8) even though SW2 has more bridge priority (less number value). Right?
Hi Keith, Thanks for the great content you’re providing to the community, I make sometimes the fog clear out when I look at my rack 😅 I’ve go a question, what spanning tree configuration should I put on a trunk port where I have an Aruba WAP? Spanning-tree portfast Spanning tree portfast trunk Spanning tree edge Thank you
OMG...every time I learn new things from u especially when u said "in order to suppress TCN every time a host connects to a switch, there can be so many TCNs flooding the network", so PortFast is a must for me atleast
Keith, I'm curious, what software are you using to set up and network so many virtual devices and a virt lab, as you do? I mean, I have VMware on 2 of my computers (and wsl on all my windows machines), and virtbox on some of my computers....but to get all these virt devices networked as you do, do you have suggestions or tips as to what I should use to create such a lab environment? Much thanks for all you give to the community. I'm curious cuz in all of my vm environments, they're already NAT'ing to reach my actual gateway, but as such, their network identities are all over the place and I'm confused as to how to make an isolated lab, as you do, in all of your amazing videos. Thanks, again, man.
Thank you for the question Scott Sparling. I have several pieces of physical gear, but prefer to virtualize when possible. I use CML, Eve-NG, and have a few Dell rack servers that are running the ESXi hypervisor.
I’m here to do as you have asked and to make sure my homework is correct and since comment is turned off on the IPv6-01 video, Making sense out of an IPv6 Address. Watching this series as a supplement to the CBTN CCNA 200-301 Course - IPv6. My Answer: 1232:5678:9ABC:DEF1
Hey Keith, great video as always. What about bpdu guard? would you recommend to enable it when using fastport? and if you can compare bpdu guard and bpdu filter would be great thanks
Thank you for the question! Great points. BPDU filter is wonderful in association with portfast. BPDU guard is more of a security measure, for protecting against malicious (or accidental) layer 2 topology manipulation. Here is a good article, medium.com/ken-m-lai/bpdu-filter-vs-bpdu-guard-a112f967798b I will add to my video creation queue a video on BPDU filter vs guard. Stay tuned, and thanks for the idea. Cheers.
Mr Barker I am really worried about something, should I focus so much on physical problems solving while life is moving in the direction of virtualization ?!
Thank you for the question jihad shari. Very similar problems will can come up, in either physical or virtual environments. The TCP/IP protocol stack and the ethernet technologies works the same in both.
Thank you! Jeremy, Jeff, Knox, Network Chuck, and I are collaborating on that, and it may be ready by the end of March. We won't release it until it is completely ready. Time will tell. Thanks for the interest!
Thank you for the question Amit Patil. Yes, without portfast, each access port that changes state will generate a TCN. If for no other reason, that alone is a significant benefit of using portfast. Setting the default in global config is often the most consistent way of making that happen.
Thank you for the question KillerZero259. I most often use Eve-NG these days. I do have CML as well as some live gear, so some of it depends on what I am working on at the moment.
I wish I had your knowledge(working towards) Keith you’re videos are amazing I’m trying to join your discord but I set up and old discord with my phone number so I used a different browser through my phone number to recover that account and deleted it so I can use the number with the new discord so I can join your discord I guess it’s a slow process I couldn’t change the number since I didn’t have a second one
Keith! Firstly, thank you for making ppl explicitly undstnd things you teach. But on the other hand, sharing a single part n making no complete CCNA course really sucks. Do make it a complete course based on 100% exam and curricula. Not sharing random vids on it. Like too many ppl have posted a full course with exam curricula. When one comes here then must go bo where for extra other course material.

love this video. Keith shows the most obscure commands which is great. I've officially unsubscribed from other CCNA trainers lol
