Independence Day should have made this list. The destruction was incredible. Also The Day After Tomorrow was a scary movie. But I thought about it the last few weeks and it not scary anymore. It’s still good
Godzilla left the city largely untouched. He barely scratched New York's landscape. You should have added "Cloverfield" (2008), instead, where the monster really wrecked New York (decapitated the Statue of Liberty, collapsed the Empire State Building, exploded the Chrysler Building, destroyed the Brooklyn Bridge with its tail), and finally forced the U.S. Army to destroy the whole Manhattan in order to kill the creature. Other two movies that haven't spared New York City are "Deep Impact", in which a tsunami higher than the late Twin Towers engolfed the whole city, and "Independence Day", the original one, where the aliens nuked New York from the Empire State Building.
Am I the only one who feels absolutely uncomfortable watching such movies? I mean, scenes were entire cities get flooded and/or huge buildings, monuments and memorials get destroyed? No matter if it's aliens attacking, the world coming to an end or natural calamities, this gives me the creeps.
