  • This Sparrow Hawk was found stuck in a gum pad at BHEL. Fortunately, a timely call by a citizen ensured a timely rescue by us. After several steps such as applying castor oil and bathing it with shampoo and warm water, the bird was free from the trap. It was then spread on a drying pad and finally placed in a brooder to keep it warm and safe.
Gum pads, also known as glue traps, are used for rodent control, but they often trap a lot of birds, snakes and squirrels too! Freeing themselves from the adhesive is a struggle, resulting in severe injuries or even death.
You can help prevent such injuries by eliminating the usage of glue traps.
