The evil Goku thing and the heart cancer technically apply to a lot of different timelines if you stop to think about it. Even without overthinking the time travel rules, or even counting alternate timelines, Goku still dies a lot more than Krillin ever did. All of my friends grew up watching it and it is by far the most recognizable anime IP in the world so it never came up but the Dragon Ball lore is actually insane.
