So looking back at who said the greatest matches always were. Seemed to include the dragon. He was my favorite since I was little. I’m glad to have grown up during this great time in wrestling
he shouldnt regret taking time off for his family. thats plain out wrong for him to say that. it also shows how vince jr. really is a big piece of crap. when it becomes between family and buisness, it should be a no brainer. he was a established superstar and the wwf wasnt giving him the respect he deserved in the first place. he shouldve been able to write his own ticket to wrestle anywhere in the world. just my opinion.
@montethepharaohli1prowrestling He didn't really walk out for six months. He lost the belt to Honky in June. Wrestled Honky at the July and August MSG shows. And was back in November for the first Survivor Series. By December he was in a program with Rick Rude. Then he left after Wrestlemania 4.
Steamboat is one of the greats but I honestly can't see a world in which he wins the WWF World title during the late 80s at least. It was 100% going to bounce between Hogan, Savage and Warrior. He would've challeneged for it absolutely, but given how the WWF was then, the 3 guys I mentioned were on a different level in terms of what the promotion wanted their world champion to be. Early to mid 90s, though? Yeah, I could see a world in which Steamboat was WWF Champion. The overall shift from Hogan to Hart would've meant Steamboat had a great opportunity be world champion if he had stayed.
@@cool-lemon I never thought of the 90’s very good point indeed !! I do think he would have held the IC title for a long time, the rumor always was he was going to have the tile for at least 3 years
I wish I had an opportunity to tell Ricky Steamboat what he did for me as a child ! It means a lot to me even to this day , great guy.
@@jamesbundy5617 you just did
Thank you for the support on the channel
Those losses to Honky Tonk , Kamala and Skinner hurt his career big-time.
True

That ultimate good guy
Perhaps if Steamboat hadn't walked out of the WWF for 6 months in 1987, we may have been denied the epic trilogy of Flair vs Steamboat in 1989. 🤔
Goog point
Very good point 👍🏻
Those matches were worth more than a title in WWF
IC belt means nothing. It was his NWA run as champion that meant something.
@@farscape1714 not sure about that WM3 was what really got Steamboat and savage to the next level
Could have gotten a trilogy of Savage matches though. 😢
Wasnt the “walking out” due to being denied time off after having a kid or something?
Kinda of. he discusses this in the interview
100% class exemplified.
Agreed
What a great man

I knew he would say that.

agree.
I thought he was going to say losing to an Elvis impersonator😂😂😂
Hmmm
All well and good but I understand the birth of his son as well. It was clear later that he loved his son.
Good comment
He could have held on to the IC belt for quite sometime if he stuck to the program. He was really over.

Why did he walk out for 6 months?
Got mad that vince took the IC title

If he stayed IC champ he may have become the world champion… but his matches in WCW were a treat so who knows
