- March 1989.
A twist emerges during the search for Earl's killer while Grant is a major suspect. Meanwhile James unnerves Barbara and Duncan longs for Shannon. In this episode:
-Glen has major memories
-Duncan's tearful goodbye
Thank you. I had no idea they brought Farley Granger back for flashbacks.
I'd never seen that Jennifer Hobart. I read that she was played by Geraldine Court. Doug Marland was friends with her, I believe (he wrote for her on The Doctors and created a GL role for her as Amanda Spaulding's mother, Jennifer Richards). I cringed when Glenn kissed her doubts away.
I wish they'd had a few more people vouching for Grant. Given his history, only Tom and Lisa there to sort of support him is odd.
I love the setup for James' attempted abduction of Paul in New York. I hadn't seen any other showing of Glen's involvement besides the helicopter ordeal shortly thereafter.
I also never knew about this Hal temp. I guess he was on for at least 2 days. IMDB has Richard Council. He played another character on ATWT too. And IMDB says he was on Search for Tomorrow in the early 90s (I guess that was Earth-2 Search for Tomorrow).
He's OK, I guess, but lacks that BH charisma. I also imagine BH's Hal looking at this guy's hair and saying, "I DON'T go to Supercuts."
I forgot to say I liked the flashbacks. Sometimes when Marland did this spy stuff and foreign intrigue, I would cringe, but it works here. Poor Earl is just so broken down. My heart breaks for him. And Glenn is chilling, ruthless, everything. I wonder if viewers at the time were surprised he was the killer, or if they knew it would probably be him.
I know this episode aired before March 16, 1989, because Paul is in New York on March 16, 1989 episode, so when did this exactly aired on, ASAP Please
Barbara did seem doubtful, and then we barely saw her again anyway. I meant more along the lines of Bob or Kim or Nancy. I wish we'd seen them.
I remember reading an article where Michael Swan talked about weak men on soaps. This was years after this episode, but I wonder if he thought of this scene. His acting in the phone call scene w/Shannon is wonderful (I didn't know he had it in him), but seems overly weepy for Duncan. I did laugh when he told that maid I'd never seen before to double security. Since when did that ever stop people from being killed on that island.
I didn't know Roy was still around. Or Jeri (she was eyeing Tom).
You're welcome. I guess you can chalk up Grant's predicament to his long absence. It's a late night in Oakdale also. Barbara knew how a man can turn on you, so no support from her makes sense.
What does one have to do with the other?
I could have forgiven the scene a bit more if Michael Swan were shirtless. Just saying!
Nothing, other than the fact that they were both Hals. I know BH killed himself much later. Just making conversation.......sorry if I offended.
I know Benjamin Hendricksen killed himself, but this actor sucks.
This was back in 1989 when they temporarily replaced Benjamin Hendricksen for Richard Council. Hendricksen killed himself in 2006.
