@Ye Olde Horsemanship Channel Mexico City was the Capital and the administrative place of the whole Viceroyalty of New Spain, hence the name Mexico for the nation after the independence of the Viceroyalty from Spain. Oh, and while the Spaniards brought the horses, cattle and with that their way of handle the cattle adapted for Spain, Europe but... since Mexico is in a continent called America, new adaptations were needed and the result was the vaquero... the *Mexican vaquero.* The vaqueros' work is a very hard work to do, the Spaniards and Criollos (people of Spaniards descent) barely worked the land with their very own hands and sweat, so they hired hard working Mestizos and Native Americans to do that heavy work for them and in that process, new techniques, tools and strategies were born to work the land of what is now Mexico and former Mexican territories like South Western States of the U.S.
