I have both. The hybrid barrel has a better mouth feel. T1 sound is a little better and squeals easier. I find myself dagger cutting the reeds so it doesn't lock up on feed chatter. on the tone board there are two parallel lines that run across as the slope starts. I'm always trimming right at the first line to maybe in-between. Got to be up there in reed length probably 1.370+ not sure. Do you drop your tongue back/down as if you where pronouncing the word "won" in the call ? your tones great mine is more harsh like a cutdown and am wondering if it has to do with mouth cavity/ tongue position during the exhale. When I call its more like im pronouncing the word "hut" or "quit" into the barrel.
Yes sir, I agree with all of that! I actually ended up putting a t1 insert in a hybrid barrel and it’s perfect! I have a unique style that is sort of hard to describe, but I use sort of a higher pitched voice into my calling. I don’t bring up the tones from as deep in my chest as most guys do. That’s why the j frames and shorter reeds are more my style. But I’d say I’m more like saying “haint” into the call.
