Love the editing. And thanks for sharing your story. I broke both my wrists once from that same instinct of throwing your arm out to catch yourself in a bad fall. Glad you ended up okay though, and glad you are here with us now. It may not be the path you planned, but seems like it still worked out okay. And as someone who enjoys your videos partly to help with some of my mental health problems, I'm grateful that you ended up here, and sharing your stories with us (both personal and Rimworld ones). So thank you, and I hope your life continues to be good. ^_^
The 1st child i ever had in rimworld was called Nurone because randy sent me a plague during the childbirth of a mother with alcohol withdrawal. Was born healthy, he was the first one blessed by nurgle... the real nurone... he was killed by a timberwolf while nature running far away from base in -20 degress deep snow, his little bear pelt child parka was not enough to protect him RIP Nurone and RIP Roe Jogan
I know it sounds incredibly selfish, but somehow, I am glad that you are here with us instead of fighting someone else's war in some other country. Keep up the amazing work man!
Really appreciate the grim warning and opportunity to skip ahead. Also really enjoyed the editing touches on this (like the planet zoo soundtrack comparison).
my brother jumped to make a basketball goal, bumped my larger cousin, fell...His body landed on his arm. The driveway was concrete slab...4 inches, sharp edge. All bones snapped...straight line straight through. He says the same of all the road bumps. My uncle asked why he thought he had broke it, cause my brother is super calm, but pale. He was holding it tight to his chest, so he just holds it out straight, it flops mid bone straight down limply. My uncle puked, aunt call 911. My brother laughs about those faces these days, but at the time he was hurting too bad to laugh. Still, my relatives were the ones who don't usually react. It was a priceless moment. Sucks he got hurt, but the memory of their reactions...hillarious. On a side note, I nearly died in a house fire. Try running a flaming hallway with hair to your ankles billowing about like that kid in the "Firestarter" movie...terrifying...
I love the edited versions, but I noticed I appreciated the few that began with a brief "last time" so I know immediately if I've seen the previous one or missed something.
Your story about how you stuffed your arm makes me dislocating my shoulder a lot better of a result. I had a fall & in doing so fell in a similar way to you, where all my weight from running went onto my left arm as I landed trying to catch myself. I was twisted in a narrow gap so couldn't fall straight equally on both hands. However instead of snapping my arm, my elbow locked and instead of it breaking, all the force from my weight & running went up to my shoulder & it pushed my shoulder out of it's socket & behind me. Bet if my arm had have been on a different angle it probably would be ended up similar to yours or at least snapped.
Your story about your arm and almost going into the military resonates. I did go into the military, and that led to, eventually, me utterly fucking up my shoulder. Used to competitively rock climb, pole vault, etc, but after that? Yeah not happening. Good news is I got a 70% disability rating from the VA, so at least there's some compensation!
Man, Adam i didnt know you came from a rough past. I hope you're holding up well now. Also thank you so much for your content. I'm happy I found your channel and happy you're still around.
What about doing a Santa's Workshop run? Ice Sheet survival (North Pole) where you try to survive off producing and production focus to give toys and guns to all the good boys and girls of the rim.
Another fellow scuffed left arm dude! Glad your WASD still works, when a subsequent injury made me feel like i was going to lose that I freaked the f out. And I can’t believe i never tried this game out, fancy dwarf fortress always sounded so cool. Have you done a play thorough that emphasized domesticating/trapping animals and turning them into weapons? Thanks for the content fam
Wow what happened to his left arm is similar to what happened to mine kinda. Slipped on ice while crossing the road and as a very fat person i tried to right myself using my right arm on the traffic light pole. My forearm bones snapped in half and my arm looked like a giant V shape tho no bone stuck out , it didnt break skin. For my hospital visit tho i had to wait for a doctor for 2 or 3 hours on emergency before they took a look and then got the xrays. They told me that i had to have a surgery too but they appointed the time at 5 weeks later. My family was like fuck that and we had to go to a private hospital to so i could get the surgery next day. But i didnt have the whole losing arm thing. Have a huge scar on forearm and plate and screws on one bone and pin in the other one. Loved playing mp fps games can no longer do it for longer than 30mins or so due to extreme pain. Cant turn my wrist properly too.
Wow, I broke my wrist when i was 13 rollerskating! It's not fun. You'res was much worse than mine though, but I was put in the back of my parents pickup truck to drive to the hospital, so it was a pain trying to hold and and not roll around back there. :( Mine was just a fracture in the ulna bone, and it's still not 100%, and hurts at random times... so I can't imagine how much worse your arm is. I'm glad you were able to keep your arm though :)
The warning about the arm breaking story amused me. We are here to watch RIMWORLD. Rimworld? With child soldiers and organ harvesting and war crimes and shotgun dwarves? Why would that arm story bother us? And then I heard the arm story. And wished I'd heeded the warning. Boy, I'm not gonna finish those chips today, am I? 🤢
Thought the same in the beginning but then remembered that I have big tolerance to these things irl so many people should be scared here. For me this started with vet girlfriend who discussed with me all of her pet surgery stuff and send photos. Then I realised I can freely watch things like brain surgeries/autopsies/etc
No, genetics tech only impacts xenogerms. Hereditable traits are strictly philogerms, while inbreeding penalties are strictly based on family relations.
Competitive obstacle courses, fitness tests, team competitions etc. Everything from timed events crossing a small canyon to literally 'who can run 2 miles the fastest' etc.
@@AdamVsEverything Hunh, apparently it's a JROTC program. I went through JROTC in highschool myself, never heard of it, guess they didn't have that program in Louisiana, sounds fun :)
You’re warning *Rimworld* players/watchers about graphic content like a compund fracture story? :v Stuff’s everyday bro, someone becoming a quadriplegic (though most often posthumously) or being skewered by several spear users, maybe even becoming victims of greater horror in the Archotech ending? I may be mistaken, maybe not all people here partake in systematic organ harvesting of now-pacified tribespeople living at one’s mercy, but the game’s gotta have at least -some- form of reputation for having the potential to instill chills, bringing only people who could handle those things?
generally speaking I would imagine that most people have more empathy for Adam, who is a real person, than the fictitious characters in a videogame....

Don't be such a baby, at least you didn't lose two arms and a lung from a mortar shell... :D

the Quality Control of these new episodes is insane. Quality is through the roof!

If this run is still ongoing you should make a dwarf gene package once you get into gene editing to turn your baseliners into honorary dwarves
This run ended on twitch a week and a half ago.
This editor is so genius and magnificent its crazy! Holy moly these are so easily watchable.
Adam is either incredibly lucky, or the ultimate Chad. Probably got the toughness trait if I had to guess 🤔

this editing is a game changer. thanks adam and team!
Ouch.... that arm break. I'm glad you kept it!
oh man that arm story, also glad you made it out of that fire. Sounds like a wild time in your life.
Really enjoying the regular 30ish minute videos.
sorry to hear about your arm and the resulting life changes. Love the content!

An army of BEARS is a great offense and defense tool, so long as you feed them... the bodies of your enemies of course!
ok, so I left this on at 0.5x speed from ep 1, its on ep12 now that im back, watch time victory!
edit for the arm story: damn...
I’m really enjoying this series and the edits.
AMAZING editing
The soundtrack comparisons are pretty apt, both of them have that vague americana-type feel to em
Thx, Adam! Awesome!

bro got a prosthetic arm on his left
I think it should be no. 12 in the title? : D
Love the vids

Curious, you're always excited about traders, so why weren't you using a comm station? Are there downsides to them?
**reads warning**
"psh, how bad could it be..."
**after story is finished**
😮 (insert noot noot meme here)
Still waiting for Mortar baby merch
Yeah but consider this: had you lost your arm, you could have replaced it with a bionic one.
Heya mr algorithm
Wait, can you..... Extract... genetic material from prisoners to "add" to the genepool of your colony?
No, genetics tech only impacts xenogerms. Hereditable traits are strictly philogerms, while inbreeding penalties are strictly based on family relations.
Its gonna sound very mean but i am glad he snapped his arm and didnt go to the army
Title says run 11 :)
Why the lamps and the tables look like that? Is that a mood?
No, it is from the Ideology DLC. All that is shown in episode 1.
All those weapons you are never gonna use are bugging me.
What's competitive raiders?
Competitive obstacle courses, fitness tests, team competitions etc. Everything from timed events crossing a small canyon to literally 'who can run 2 miles the fastest' etc.

"bringing only people who could handle those things" *RimWorld banned in Australia*
The difference between fictional stories and real life stories is gigantic. Usually it's the same for it's affects on people too.
