Thanks for the kind words. I do it for fun and the knowledge I can from feedback from my viewers. Every once in a while some says they don't like my videos and that is fine with me. I am not an expert by any means nor am I a professional podcaster. Life is good. Tom
Other then my atena being defrent I've got this exact one from my grandma when she passed away about 8 years ago funnily enough and I still use it, works beautifully and ill sit outside on my porch or somewhere and let it scan through channels whenever I find an interesting channel ill lock onto it
I know it's a few years late, but if you're a Pro-95 or -93 owner with a blank screen, all may not be lost. I had a Pro-95 go blank on me and the fix was quite easy. Using Win95 programming software, I was able to see that for some reason, the display contrast setting, which should be between 0 and 5, was set to -370. Using the software, I reset the display contrast to a regular number (the keypad combo had no effect) and it worked great all the way up until some scumbag stole it from my car a few years later. If you don't have the software and interface cable, you can reset the radio using the pinhole on the back and achieve the same effect. So if your screen "goes out," don't junk the radio! Try resetting it! Just a minor glitch in an otherwise superb radio. I miss mine.
I like the idea of using baby monitors to transmit audio throughout your house, especially because it's a inexpensive solution. Sure, you could buy fancier solutions (low power FM, audio streaming over wifi, etc.), but if it works, why make it more complicated?
I just repaired one these the digitised screen had come apart you need to glue it at the sides back together there's two glasses they may have come apart mine now works be carful how you open and remember how it go s back
Thanks for your comment. The baby monitors do not have the fidelity of wireless headphones but they are cheap and when just listening to your shortwave radio or scanner you don't need much audio bandwidth.
You may be able to Repair that scanner I had an LCD die in my pro 164. I looked online found an LCD and took the scanner apart. All I had to do was unhook the wire band and put in the new one. Now it works fine.
The Win 93 software allows you to adjust this. Under "settings" look for Display Contrast and crank it up until you can see the light, assuming it is still working.
I have one from eBay. Works fine after I took it apart and tightened the BNC connector. I don't have the computer interface - yet. I got it because it covers the CB band and it has alpha tags.
my mother stoped by my house today and when she came in she seen this video playing and she goes ""now who is that old man on the computer???"" i said easy mom its grandpaw! she started asking what made me think you wer my grandfather, and if i was on drugs! ha! i told her your nickname was grandpaw-shortwave and explained how you make shortwave videos and that you are very insightful. she watches your videos now , which i was not expecting and she also is getting a portable receiver! good 2 see the hobby spread so i figured id share the story with you tom

I had an XM satellite radio that did the same thing. The radio is working OK but one night the display went blank for no apparent reason. Fruastrating!

You remind me of my dad about 20 years ago, the glasses and haircut and red and black shirt especially!

I have a pro-70 and with new batteries it’s quite low. Never was like that before. Do you know what might be causing that?
Sorry, I can't help.
Thanks anyway.
