I see three problems: 1. You could still kill people with stuff such as lava buckets or traps. 2. It's way easier to steal, grief, etc. since you can't be hurt by other players in defense mode. 3. Theoretically, a highly skilled person could strategically turn on and off defense mode to simultaneously attack and prevent damage in pvp.
@@enderadon i mean you can probably just make a faction type rules set. So when someone enters your territory, you could probably just have a set rule for them to be hostile.

I saw your comments about the challenge command, I was thinking of ways you can tune it: - Allow challenging one person or a team, teams already exist in vanilla minecraft so that can be implemented. - Challenge ends either after a set timer or after one side loses. - During a challenge, both parties are immune to non participants but aren't immune against eachother.
Not sure if someone else has said this but just my two cents, maybe it would be cool to have a way to set certain zones that change the rules depending on what zone you're in? For example someone has a server that has an arena in it, and if that arena is set as a "zone" for pvp, the defence system is completely disabled for anyone inside so you can't cheese your way through a fight. On the other hand if that arena has an area for spectators to watch the fights, the defence system is permanently enabled for any player inside so they can't be beating each other up or interfere with the fight, including making it harder for cheaters to try and use sneaky traps to help their arena buddies inside. Maybe that's already addressed idk, just wanted to pitch in.
We do hope to put together a challenge system where players can use /challenge and keep defense off until one player dies, or they're far enough away from each other. Could be a fun addition!
one idea that may be hard to implement is allowing for separate timer's for players, this would allow a lot of things! such as a reputation system where players known for getting into combat have shorter timers, or safe zones where any player inside has a much longer timer!
i'd love to see a gamerule to allow interactions like punching but negate the damage, so for example you can still punch people into a pit but they won't take damage from it?
the only concern i have is that if someone has defense on and steals items from your chest you can't do anything about it unless you have other mods/plugins to protect against that. i think it would be cool to have like a ownership system where you can protect your chest from untrusted users.

Love this mod! Concerns I have are protected players stealing pvp drops, and invisible players cannot be hit/killed. I can see this mod more fitting for a non-PvP server to introduce some friendly dueling, so it will be cool to also have a toggle PvP mode instead of only toggle defense.

I would like to see a raid totem or illegality system in place. Illegality would secure a chest or other private property that where opening it disables protection to allow people to chase that player. The raid totem making that player being able to be attacked by anybody or attack anyone with the protector symbol for a limited amount of time, there would a sound warning (like that one of a wither spawning, or a raid triggering) upon use and constant blood or other particles on that player. Perhaps the illegality system could just be a raid totem in a dispenser within applying the effect within a short range.
Glad to see that my friends still won't be safe from my dripstone shotgun. Also, I wonder if it works against TNT placed by dispensers placed by and activated by enemy players.
a base feature basicly you can mark your base and if a another player enters it enable a mode they cant toggle where they cant open chest and enables protection this could also work with the teams feature i sugested where each team member can have custom base permisions by other players in the team so a team could have two bases but its like a friend group where they can still work togeter and fight this feature can also be dissabled by server ownders or ops with a command like /gamerule baseprotection true/false or a /base command that can enable or dissable each feature of bases or bases entirely and mayby a base marker
One possible idea for a future feature would be to make a gamerule that disables the ability to refresh defence instantly. I'd say you could make it work like so; Let's say the timer is 20 minutes, and you use it for 5 minutes and then disable it. Your defence timer is now at 15 minutes and begins recharging back to the max while it is deactivated. If you leave it for 1 minute and turn it on again, you're at 16 minutes left and start draining the new timer from that point. If it reaches 0, it just deactivates automatically and you have to wait for it to charge to use it at all. I would also recommend making it so it has to be at a minimum time to activate it again (perhaps 1 minute), so you can't just let it run down to 0 and then continuously reactivate it every time it runs out. Alternatively, just set a 1 minute (or configurable time) cooldown between every deactivation and reactivation. Of course, this idea of maintaining the remaining time should be deactivated by default, since it's largely intended for good faith use among people willing to respect the system, but having the ability to use it for temporary and limited peace of mind in a more combat-oriented server would be a good idea too. Another useful feature would be to be able to set the defense timer to infinite (if not already possible), AND to set the default state of defense mode, since some servers may have PVP deactivated by default, but allow people to enter a PVP mode. Even ones like Wynncraft have features in the late-game like this where you can enable PVP and have players hunt you. Speaking of which- a "hunted" mode could be fun. When you have it enabled, players can acquire a bounty for you, and successfully killing you may give some reward or something. Or, perhaps it just allows them to track you with a compass, so it's for people who want a hardcore PVP experience. This could mean that instead of a two-state switch, it's more like a three-state slider for what intensity of a PVP experience you want, hunted, normal, and defense. Again, multiple of these being togglable

you should add a /defense status command, or something to that degree, to see the status of the defense toggle, mainly for players that are far away, or for people that are using the geyser mc plugin/mod for cross play with bedrock, with that being said, you should make the mod optional for clients (if you haven’t already) so it would be compatible with geyser mc plugin/mod

thats a great mod but it will be better if when you use the defense and close it at 17 min the next time you enable it it will only be 17 min and when it finish you need to wait like 10 mins to enable it again it will be cool

I feel like the easiest way to stop this would be a "punishment timer" after manually toggling off defense before you can toggle it on again

thats a great mod but it will be better if when you use the defense and close it at 17 min the next time you enable it it will only be 17 min and when it finish you need to wait like 10 mins to enable it again it will be cool

What if you place a TNT and activate it with a button? Iirc, this shouldn't make it count as a player lighting it, so based on what I've seen, it would kill people?

Knarfy Too can your team try to add it for Forge? I have a survival world and I have to keep PVP off so that me and my friends dont hurt each other.
if you place alot of tnt minecarts (by other players) doesnt it do fall dmg if it activates on you?
