Sure do love her style of playing! Hearing her play like that is almost like a real live journey back in time. And what a wonderful accompaniment to that awesome clarinetist! And done on an old fashioned upright to boot!
This is great! I'm reading a book about New Orleans called City of a Million Dreams, and I never thought I'd hear Dr. Michael White and Shaye Cohn play together. Deeper and deeper into the history of this city, the past and present intertwine.
I just love Shaye's musicality and versatility Richard, and such a self effacing personality. I just love her and the whole of the band she leads so apparently effortlessly, but which I'm certain hides years of dedication, practice and giving to the group, leads. Unusual, almost unique (not sure if it's a misuse) talent - and Dr M isn't bad either is he?
Wonderful music, great artist, both clarinet and piano. Amazing. It's a pity I live far away from New Orleans. I was in 1980 in New Orleans. Wonderful town.
First heard this song on a b side of a Fats Domino hit in the late 50's. He sang the lyrics, much of which was unintelligible, but I was entranced. Fabulous to hear this. I'd stand in line in the rain for a chance to see this performance.
E la ba! (E la ba!) E la ba! (E la ba!) Hey over there! Hey over there! E la ba, chèri! (E la ba, chèri!) Hey over there, dear lady! (Hey over there, dear lady!) Komon sa va? (Komon sa va?) How's it goin'? Mo chè kouzen, mo chè kouzin, My dear cousin (male), my dear cousin (female), Mo lenme la kizin! I love the kitchen! Mo manje plen, mo bwa diven, I eat a lot, I drink wine, E sa pa kout ariyen. And it costs me nothing. Ye tchwe kochon, ye tchwe lapen, They kill a pig, they kill a rabbit, E mo manje plen. And I eat a lot. Ye fe gonmbo, mo manje tro, They make gumbo, I eat too much, E sa fe mon malad. And that makes me sick
Thank you! I was hoping for this. Love Shaye on piano; when Tuba Skinny played here in Grass Valley, CA five years ago, I asked her if she would ever do a piano album, but she said she wasn't interested. Maybe she will eventually change her mind.
Shaye is a national treasure.
That is True
There are no words in any language to describe the joy in this music!
Is there no end to Shaye’s talent? She makes any instrument she touches sound li’e gold!
Wonderful
Shaye can play everthing. What a great talent !!!!!! 👏👏💚💛
This LADY certainly has no equal, not even close!!!
The "Angels" are looking down at Shaye Cohn and Dr. White, and smiling with happiness...
She is brilliant as with a cornet as on the piano. Absolutely true to the style New Orleans. A jewel.
And trombon too, don't forget!
@@yuryloktionov1948 Plus pocket trumpet, fiddle and clarinet. Pure genius !

I heard that music by Millie and Bert Acre in Austin Nev. 1944. What a blessing to hear it again.
Iguana
Shaye is a hell of a pianist! She can really hit the stride pattern with her left hand!
Joyous and delightful excellent sound - two geniuses!
Nothing short of brilliant . Two masters of their craft !
Anything that features Shaye, is fine by me, even with her back to us
Especially her economic smile!!!
So that's what's meant by watching someone's back.
What talent! All around, more, more, please? Musical history in the making. Generations to follow will listen and wonder.
These two! Together, they are something unique and fun. Thanks for posting.
What a joy and pleasure to hear this music!

BRAVO !!! 👏👏👏
Excellent ! Je crois avoir vu Greg Sherman (Tuba Skinny) rentrer dans la salle (3'55)
Cara. Formidável. Lindo. Bálsamo pra meus. Ouvidos. Trinadao de piano. Com clarinete. Vídeo lindo. Envie mais. ❤️❤️🎹🎹
... magnifique.
Personally, I think Shaye is the most interesting woman on earth.
Великолепно !
I can't imagine the parts Dr. White was playing were written for clarinet. Man, those were some tough runs he pulled off.
😊😊😊 (I can only like it once not thrice!)
I didn't know Jelly Roll Morton and Omer Simeon are still alive. They look a bit strange, but the playing is still the same...
Et la bas ! et la bas, chèri! Komon są va?

I would have loved to have seen her face as she was playing.
