Yeah but do he already has kids. And if no then I could understand why you all worked out. People also need to understand that there's a difference between an age gap and generation gap. 10-15 is an age gap but more than that is generation gap. 20 years? Okay ! Still we could deal with but 30 years difference, no, not all. And just because couples wid huge generation gap are married for 20, 30 years can get divorce later. I have seen couples like that who were married for 30 to 40 years and then they got separated.

My husband and I have a 26 yr age difference. Been married 11 yrs and going strong. We both walked into it with our eyes wide open to reality. You have to if you're going to do this... got a bit of a reality check last yr as the chickens in a way came home to roost as he had open heart surgery. He did well and was back to work and on his harley with the doctors blessing in 11 wks. He's overall a healthy man but yeah life has a way of coming up and smacking you in the face but guess what we worked together and we got him through it. Still I personally would rather have a few yrs of true happiness with my soul mate than to live my whole life without anything special. You only live once might as well be happy with the one you love. Just because I'm younger don't mean I will out live him as no one is promised tomorrow. BUT, it wouldn't be for everyone as yes there's a good chance of me being a caretaker and/or possibly being widowed much younger than I would normally be BUT even still I choose to live my life with him for however long that may be for both of us.

Here is a rant that no one asked for: I won't deny that a bigger age gap increases the likelihood for incompatibility, but you can't use that to put everyone in a box. It really depends on the individuals involved and whether or not they actually have a healthy, sustainable connection. They're acting as if physical attraction is the only thing holding these two together, which it could be, but that is not the case for every age gap couple. When you love someone, and you are committed to them, you are not going to suddenly wake up one day and no longer love them because you've decided they're "old" now. You view them through the lens of a loving connection and years of time spent together. Plus, you're going to see the other person get old whether they're your age or a lot older than you, so if you have a problem with that, it sounds like you're just not mature enough to commit to someone. You might have to help take care of them in their old age, but the same thing could happen to a same age couple if one of them got cancer or had to battle a serious long-term illness or injury. Marriage is in sickness and in health. Ultimately, a given age represents different milestones to different people. Some people learn a lesson at 20 that others didn't learn until 40. That said, I think as long as two people have compatible personalities, are equal on an emotional and intellectual level, and share mutual attraction, then age doesn't matter (obviously excluding a couple in which someone is under the legal age).

The experiences, the goals, and life style. A 24 year old is still hitting the bars, the 53 year old is hitting the sack at 10PM. Life goals, 53 year old getting ready for retirment in about a decade, 24 year old just starting out in the work force. Ect ect.

It's not 100% chance of divorce, which means for some it works out, and who is to say you aren't that part of the percentage! Just remember to enjoy the ride, as you only get one chance to enjoy yourself!

Well, one size doesn't fits all. When I was in my teens, I was like you. Like love is love, there's nothing off limits when comes to love. But now as I have grown older & I've seen the world, I've realised that everything in your life matters. Trust me, I have travelled around the world & I've met literally, I mean literally met more than thousands of people, who were or are in a "generational" gap relationship. I can assure you out of 10, 8 couples got separated because of the age gap issue. And the couples who are still in the relationship, when I asked them separately about of their relationship, some deep down questions. Trust me, more than half of those couples were not happy as they wanted it to be. Yeah, they were still not clearly saying that about the age gap but the reasons they were giving was clearly projecting that age gap was causing some issues. Yeah u can say that age cannot be the only reason a couple split up but it surely could be one of the reasons. I feel weird when people say that age is just a number. No, it's not, it's part of your identity, don't ignore it. I am very happy for y'all & I hope that y'all make it through the end. But we all need to understand that age gap and also generational gap relationships is not for everyone. I have seen few age gap relationship which have lasted long. So I won't discourage anyone from going there but cause I've seen more unhappy "generational" gap relationships, I personally won't motivate anyone either.

Something tempting usually isn't a good thing.
What's the point? Even with one's personal experience in marriage - however long that might be, even 50 years - GO SLOW when giving advice! Be modest and don't presume to know things about people that you know absolutely nothing about.

I don’t understand these comments. I understand statistics but he’s trying to break up their relationship. If they want to marry, that’s their business. I’ve never seen the rest of the episode, like if she’s a gold digger, ect. But statistics on age, 3rd marriage, and aging is crazy. Is the guy supposed to never seek love again?

He can live his life just fine. Dr Phil trying to give him a dose of reality the numbers show this isnt going to work. People don't have to get married to love again.

Yeah, I know this doesn’t show why they’re there. It’s just... Why are they telling consenting adults who to marry? It happens all the time, they just happen not to be on Dr. Phil for it lol ppl will do anything for attention bruv... I- Oh well.

      Agreed.
Americans keep telling everyone not to "judge". What is this interview, then? One non-stop judging session on a personal matter. And the comment section? A judging circus!
      Practice what you preach!

Think about prison exonerees who were locked away for extended periods of time and got out after age 50 60 or even 70. Maybe they wanted kids early on so they pick up where they left off and go for 20 or 30 somethings. One got out at age 55, moved to the UK and married a beautiful 23 year old and had kids together. Nothing at all wrong with that!
