Game was over in the first five minutes... the Mavs (and especially Luka, Kyrie, Lively, Washington) just looked different. Crazy how much difference in coaching/game plan makes.

Lively is so composed for a rookie. He asked Luka before the game "please don't complain to the refs". He took his advice to heart and locked in on both ends. Sam Hauser was the only Celtic to score on him. They shot 2-11 against him.

@@chauvintookaknee4blm268 what are you talking about? Lucas still played in all 5 games and had 30+ points multiple times. Kryie was there. You can say their opponents were mostly injured for both teams throughout the playoffs but the Mavs weren't completely beat up in the Finals
Awful coaching has been screaming about this issue since game 1. Pretty much telling the mavs stop letting Gafford or Lively set the screens but instead have Horford’s man do it, so that Luka can go 1v1 against horford. It took Jason Kidd 4 games to realize that . WE LIVE IN North KOREA

For anyone that doesn't see the Celtics posturing, they need to get a grip. The Celtics handed this game to the Mavs on a silver platter. It was way too obvious they didn't want to win on the Mavs court. I'm 110% certain and serious. There were a number of giveaways on the defense, or should I say lack of defense that was intentional and lax the whole game. This isn't Celtics basketball. Not by a long shot. You will see a different Celtics team at Game 5.
yeah I also think the same thing...but the Celtics' mistake was letting the Mavs win 1 game if it was true that they didn't want to win at Mavs home but rather wanted to win at home...because the Mavs could take this momentum and improve their game,, and Of course the Mavs will provide fierce resistance and of course if you say you will see a different Celtics in game 5... then you also have to know, MAVS will play a different game in game 5... this game 5 will be very exciting. ...

But mark my words, the only way the Mavs will win the series, will be if it was rigged. And I've seen this for years with the NBA. However, I doubt it will happen because it will be too obvious. The key for MAVS to make a comeback is their role players... if Exum, Hardaway, and PJ can help in their offense, Luka & Kai can play more enjoyably and make those 3's... I think this series is far from over...
@@GeneralZod1991you’re absolutely right. PJ is huge in terms of X factor importance, but for the Mavs it’s really Livel/Gafford then their forwards. People also forget which is fair that THJ was almost 6th man of the year and fell off hard after trade deadline due to injury. If he can hit shots which is a big if then th Mavs have the best bench by far. Issue is Celtics starting 6 is elite. Mavs top 2 is better but Mavs could rotate

Luka missed all threes yet was 12-18 inside the line. More FG in the paint than the entire Boston Celtics team. This team can beat anyone, but more than two guys gotta score.
For the first time the Mavs completely outscored the Celtics and surpassed 100 points. On top of that, role players' consistent performance was also crucial for the Mavs' victory as they buried important threes and defended phenomenally.

Their pace on offense was quicker and they were a lot more physical on defense. Hopefully they can do it again in Boston. If they can bring the series back to Dallas there's a good chance they could extend it to a game 7 imo
Agreed. And finally seeing the three guard line up that was so successful earlier in the season with Luka Kai and Dante is awesome. Kidd waited too long.

Game 5 we all saw them being focused and want to win the game , they beat up the Mavs again and hold them once again below 100pts.

All the Celtics need to do is put one of their healthy 7 footers in the game or play double bigs.
That is without a doubt the dumbest idea. They would get picked apart in the pick and roll and defensively they would give the Dallas bigs the ability to drop coverage. lol.
That would greatly hamper their offense though. The strength of this Celtics offense is having five guys, sometimes "only" four, that can hit from beyond the arc. But if they go double big, they lose that aspect of their offense. And even with a double big lineup, the Mavs can create mismatches on switches, so the problem isn't really solved.
Yeah no, that’s not how the Celtics play ball. That would feed right into what the Mavs want. Celtics need to hit their shots and threes, that’s the whole basis of their elite offense.

Full-throated kudos to the Mavericks for getting their sh*t together-no more Luka crybaby tactics and transforming overnight into a lockdown defender and Kyrie the Killer chipping in, too-but the Celtics defense wasn't broken. How could you break it if it didn't show up? They were ball watching, driving into traffic and where the help defense was (looking at you Jaylen), going hero ball mode, players turning into statues with no movement seen from them in crucial plays. Every flaw the Celtics have invited itself in and stayed, and the smart, high-IQ basketball version decided to sit outside the sidelines the entire game instead.

The Mavs didn’t do shit, Boston just handed them the game . No effort , no focus , no commitment in defense , no movement in offense . No nothing at all, they just let the Mavs win the game without trying to fight.
In game 5 we all saw the true face of Boston, locked in on defense and in offense, like they did in the first 3 games . Regardless of what intensity or play the Mavs come with , they just crushed them.

Casuals say it’s a bunch of jacking up 3s, when it’s actually all about the 2s, and the way the paint is the defended, (and the offensive ability to penetrate the paint) is the difference between a team “jacking up 3s” like the rockets 0-27 and insane offensive performances like GSW and Boston.

It’s better to win at home and celebrate with the fans. Celtics didn’t try and felt bad for the Mavs so they let them win and the Mavs fans can feel better not getting swept. Celtics are so thoughtful so thank them for that.

Dallas still need to run better sets and get into sets faster so they have time to run a secondary action if the first one fails. and not have to chuck up a bad shot at the end of the shotclock. but yeah they had a solid game 4. derek lively went bonkers. Pj has been consistent all series.

The fact that Lively knocked down that three that changes everything in how they deal with him
Luka uses his off arm and shoulder to push away or push off defenders to make space for drives or jump shots, and kyrie does the same on every single shot and never gets called for offensive fouls, so the Celtics must learn how to do the same. I've seen Luka shove defenders right to the floor and he never gets called.
I haven't seen anyone saying that maybe the Celtics wanted to win the chip at home. They could have had this in the back of their minds.

All of the media observers are desperately trying to turn this into a series... It's very clear that the Celtics didn't even try to put up a good fight. They saw this game wasn't theirs to win and decided to call it a day. They'll be more than happy to close the deal in Boston in front of their home crowd.
