it's been 50 years since I was a student at Stockbridge School of Agriculture, but if I remember correctly, phosphorus will not move through the soil. It stays wherever you put it. If you don't get it down into the soil it will stay on the surface. It must be where the roots can use it.

I’ve never really thought about it but you’re absolutely right, plants need bone, blood and animal remains. Decomposers decompose dead matter and the plants and trees use for nutrients

You might be adding too much nitrogen to the soil if you do that. I would stick with just one.

How i remember then is Blood is for roots..bone is for flowers...since it is organic it wont burn if u add to much..all your doing is wasting it....and boy is it expensive

...most of the minerals are there for about 7 million years..but if u have tested and do need it get it in a form plants can use..the crushed egg shell wont be available for plants to use. For years ..go to your LOCAL nursery and ask them what they have...

Do you NOT KNOW it takes 3 to 6 months for bone meal to break-down to a useable form for plants... your cucumber was probably dead before there was phosphorus available from the bone meal Providing your soil PH is 7 or below..... Your cucumber needs a fast release water soluble form of P.
