- The load boards seem a little lighter, good thing for repeat customers. Multiple partials, but overall And good lesson and not hauling cheap freight even with the slowdown. Good lesson, don't sleep next to a reefer at the rest area! Not bad for 4 days and 1500 miles, and I'm back home with enough time to prepare for the GIVEAWAY! SEE YOU AT 6 PM TODAY!!

Hey! The “reefer” trucks run to keep the trailer cold. It has a separate fuel tank just for the trailer, so when the trucks off that’s usually still running. Yes, all night long!
Harry Heck I like to think so. Some people don’t know that.
I run a reefer and many times will nose in not to bother people.
I feel bad for people who park next to me at night. I had a camper parked next to me one night. I was surprised they didn’t try and set my truck on fire at night 😂 it was just so loud. Truck idling and Reefer running gets loud.
I pull in toward a lot due to reefers, also privacy curtains will help eliminate the sound, good video!
Had a buddy that was going to make it big doing this after the bills are paid and a major breakdown he's back at state roads working with me , good luck
And good luck to you and your buddy
You are doing good, I like your motivation, keep it going.
Thanks Jim, yup, stay tuned I'll be throwing out some more good content this week!
I think the truck knows better
you make hotshot trucking sound fun. are you driving your own truck and trailer?
Yes sir, i financed this truck, and I purchased my trailer outright. Its been a ton of fun!
@@HotshotAdventures who did you get your CDL from?
Like the shades….
You look awesome,, job agrees with you
How do you get loading when you are a new hotshot business?
Just wanted to say great job.... what and how do I get into something like this.
Research research research...
ruclips.net/video/U8PU9Wpmnx8/видео.html
Looking to get into hotshot...dors most people koin a Loadboards and book your own loads? How hard is it for a newbie to book loads?
Hi Ronnie, dispatching is an art I would say. There's a ton of tricks, but if you do research on it, you can get it. Or if you want to make things a bit easier for you in the beginning, you can always hire a dispatch service, and see how they do it, while you work on getting used to driving and working etc.
The "Car Hauling Queen" be making the bills!!! RIGHT??
You need to fix your load ramps when you drive up on them so they dont move. Your ramp came up in the air when you were ba king up that would be a bad situation if the car front wheel fell off your ramp
If you can pull in parking spots then refer will be on other end away from where your sleeping.
Reefer madness.
But I do love ice cream tho! Lol
@@HotshotAdventures Yeah me too! My favorite is mint chocolate chip mmmm
....also , youre good at what you do!
How dose having the fenders hinder your loading
I've done a couple videos on the drive over fenders check Em out on my playlists
No way you were in my hometown of Hollister. Stay safe.
Nice place to live!
How do u get started in hot shoting always wounder just don’t know anyone that does it and will I need a class A in CA I only got my B
Pisses us all off. He did not need to park next to you.
Hey next time I'll put up a cone and sign on each spot next to me "reserved for non-reefer only" LMAO!! 🤣🤟
Hotshot Adventures great 👍 idea💡 I keep the TALL ones on my rig.
Rig looks good
I did not see any chains on the car, might be better to chain the car. But love your truck and trailer
The wheels straps are pretty solid, they are sufficient for these types of vehicles. I've hauled a dually once with just wheel straps and it survived the trip from Norcal to Socal.
Do you load this yourself?
No, shippers load the product onto my trailer, from there, I am responsible for it until I reach the delivery.
Are the containers empty or loaded, no one every says :@
I dont move containers
Containers on hotshots are normally empty. If they do have anything in them it's usually negligible (think work location tools, desks, or misc items. Usually no more than a couple hundred pounds.)
How long is your trailer ?
Are you doing your own brokerage and then transporting as well?
I don't have a brokerage bud
I do my own dispatching and hauling, yes.
Hotshot Adventures You could do your own brokerage, most loads pay more in brokerage then they do in mileage. Do a google search for do it yourself brokerage. I have it, it will forward information on it later.
Where you look to book for loads ?
Truckstop.com
Sweet
Money might be good but what about benefits and a 401k
Tom Nelson I’m assuming if u work for yourself you gotta find all that on your own that’s what sucks lol
401k ? Sick days? Holiday pay? Over time? Benefits of any kind?
Hahahaha !
When you work for yourself, those terms are not in your vocabulary.
I work for myself and many times I regret it. My wife works for the state and she has some crazy benefits.
You want benefits? Don’t work for yourself. Get a city or state or county job.
Get your own 401k and put 15 percent of your income away or a Roth IRA if you don’t make I think over 150k a year I think right now you can put $6500 a year in one shit even with working for the city most state pension funds are broke I wouldn’t trust that either lol I get a union pension when I retire I still save in my own retirement account I don’t trust that I’ll have that either always have a backup
@@Guitar157 : Good information!! I will take that advice!!
Do you have to load the truck?
I load the vehicles on enough my truck, freight gets loaded and unloaded for me.
do you do your own strapping and tarping or is it done for you?
That's all the responsibility of the carrier/driver.
I do it all myself
Nice
Can I work for you ?
I have CDL B since 2014 hazmat and tanker endorsement.
I live on the road for another driver but is 👎🏽
we can't get married this weekend. I have stuff goin on.....lolol dang it

Oh damn, how bout the following weekend? Lol! Funny Ken!
Welcome welcome, thanks for your support
Do u wait for broker to pay or do u use OTR solutions factoring or some other company for payment.
I don't believe in factoring
First!!!!! Yess!!!!!
Sorry chax! I'll try a live q&a after 1k subs or something like that.
That's a different truck that's not a rental.

Yes you are right
😎👍👍
So hot shots don't have a CDL license?
They do. Most, and she has it.
@@joshuastevens5910 I think I rather hotshot than drive for a truck company. Seems better
Dc Lawn Services inc Driving for a trucking company you have steady paychecks. Hotshot you don’t. Unless you’re in Texas oil fields making 10-12k a month hotshot. That’s where the term hotshot trucking started, was oilfield. I personally dislike a lot of hotshots. Some cut corners and try to find ways around stuff, makes real truckers look bad.
@@joshuastevens5910 well I'll be getting my class a CDL with airbrake endorsement, because of what I've been doing I can pick up a few permanent loads for construction. I'm sure there's some people short cutting but my uncle and I have a few friends that drive trucks that can get me some contacts. I'm a very meticulous person who does things right. I'll be shipping mostly skid steer and small construction equipment.
Dc Lawn Services inc It’s a good way to see if you’re fit for owner operating a big rig. You’ll drop a whole lot less on tires a year and maintenance as opposed to a big rig. There’s this guy in Tennessee that builds pickup trucks but the body is pete 379 or kw w900. Pretty cool, seen a few guys that transport rodeo stock drive them.
Hi i would like to talk with you, do you have any email where i can write to contact you......?
Stop being a fucking creep
Those front 2 pieces on the trailer need to be pushed together on the trailer not spaced out,you are fixing to find out the hard way..
.
They didnt move an inch - they were transported and delivered safe and sound. Thank you for your input
I want start a hotshot... try get my cdlA
Dang you are good at staying loaded ! Cudos to you and safe travels :)
That is the perfect statement in any occupation "gotta be like water and flow around any boulder that gets in your way".
I sleep in my truck all the time, i sleep like a baby lol. Sounds don’t bother me. But i guess I’ve had practice from being in the NAVY and having to sleep under the Arresting gear on a Aircraft carrier. Noises and sounds only bother you if you let them. And how about that California crazy speed limits. Wtf right?
Hello love your videos how long is your trailer and what do you recommend for a beginner lengthwise for trailer
Good question
Both my trailers are 40'. If you are a complete novice, I would say start shorter and work your way up. Once you are used to hauling, get a 40' trailer.
No, I take it back, if you are a complete novice, get a 40' trailer. The cost of a 25' or a 40' trailer is less than you would think. If you are completely new, practice practice practice. Don't haul loads, don't commit to timeframes...just practice, watch videos, tips on how others do things. Set up cones and practice parking. Get cameras and put them on your trailer if you need to.
When you are ready, start.
You will get used to that if you’re around them, every night, that’s why you park way out at the end of the truck stop lolo, nice thanks BigAl California.
Can you do a video on your trailer i like the way the chains and binders are place
Hopefully this week Percy, stay tuned
Nobody says anything bad about hotshot 🤥🤔🤔🤥🤥🤥🤥🤥
Honey people are going to say whatever they want, and thats fine with me!! 💯 I LOVE everyone, especially my haters!!
Looks like you enjoy the lifestyle living on the road have fun and invest in some ear plugs and eye covering so that you can get proper rest. take good care and be safe.
Thanks bud
I'm about to start hotshotting, I'm so excited. Stay safe!
When I when to Michigan to get my new, tractor in 2016 I parked next to a reefer with a generator .1 would start the other would ended and then it started again I got up and drove to the dealership and when back to sleep.
Wow you are beautiful. Stay safe on the road and good luck.
New to your channel. I like what I've seen so far! Can you tell me about your trailer? I'm looking to upgrade to a 40' and curious why you went with a tri axle over dual tandem.
Hi Thomas! Welcome!
I have a whole Playlist on my trailers youre welcome to check out
Honestly, it came down to cost and the fact that I heard grease was better than oil bath axles. My mind said 6 tires were cheaper than 8, so I went with tri axles. I have not needed to replace any axles, I have replaced bearings, grease caps, grease, and brake assemblies. I'm pleased with the performance of both trailers. Delco has probably 130k miles on it.
@@HotshotAdventures I appreciate your reply. You made me laugh with your reasoning for the determination of the axle choice. I agree on the oil bath hubs, been there done that. I will check out the trailer playlist, I missed that the other day. I do have one thing that is basically keeping me from moving forward with the new career choice and that is insurance. Did you have to go completely commercial on your truck? I ask because I do have 2 5th wheels I pull personally and I am wondering how this will effect my insurance rate.
I pulled a reefer full of mushrooms from PA. to FL. I couldn't sleep at all with that noisy thing cycling every 15 minutes.
Reefers are a necessity, I love ice cream! But sleeping next to one takes some getting used to :)
I been waiting ur blog it's really interesting I am thinking to join hot shots business so advise me which track I chose.
YREKA.... omg !!!! i went to there 2 weeks ago, is too far......!!!!! and cold
It's a pretty drive don't you think?
@@HotshotAdventures hi, I love when I'm driving new views, new adventures, I did 3 times Barcelona to Morrocco, Barcelona to Germany and Paris for vacations... And now, here in the USA all California State and las Vegas
Great job. Just a word of advise. Don’t get caught with your straps on the outside of the “rub rails”. $100 fine for EACH one.
What are the rub rails?
The rub rails are the bands of steel that run parallel with the trailer.
@@dougtodd416 Ah okay. Gotcha. And thanks for the advice.
According to who and what state?
The outside rub rail was rescinded in 06, though still good practice to keep them inside. Also rub rail needs to rated for securement (and fenders).
The steel stud with the gap needs two straps in first 10' (nothing to bear up against in front of it.) One per 10' there after & one for any increment footage.
Belly straps (lower straps) do not count toward the 50% of the weight securement requirement.
A half twist is allowed between points of contact to keep them from vibrating in the airflow.
All you truckers be safe.
Hello can’t wait to see the new truck setup
I'll do the giveaway in front of the new truck guys
Another dope vid miss lady.keep them wheels turning. Not sure it I asked but are to u considering taking on other O/O under your authority? Be safe out there.
Tip from an old flatbed driver. Don't use your fender for a tie-down point, it's not very strong.
You are a one beautiful, strong lady.
Thank you
Go over your new truck when you get a chance
I did a video of the new truck, but I really didn't like the quality, so I'll do a retake tomorrow but for today I'll show it off real quick in the giveaway
babydoll just get your CDL's you won't have to rip n run so hard... The pay is so much better. $3,260 "gross" is not bad but you can turn that into your "Net pay" with CDL's
Wil Thomas. Please let me know where. Because as I see truck drivers are making the better 0.50CPM and needs to run 3000 miles min. weekly to see a $1500 gross
Concerning 'Cheap Freight'...plse. be careful...sometimes it can be better than sitting w/owork...meanwhile your fixed expenses go on. thanks, and subscribed.
Thank you darrell--there are certainly 2 sides to the coin you're right
You can buy a packet of foam earplugs from Walmart, they are great and not expensive
I thought all straps had to be inside the frame rails rather than on the outside.
Good job ma’am.
Can you show the tuck, and the 5 wheel, how long is the trailer, you have ramps, ???? Love it, thanks BigAl California.
Trailer is 40', pull out ramps at the rear of the trailer. I'll work on a video asap :)
I seriously thought about doing this, but feel Hotshots get pulled over all the time...
Long as u do the right thing u have nothing to worry about
Hello
Is it possible to tell us what permits needed to hotshot in California. Ty

Tony, it would take me forever once I got going. Stay tuned, I may do a small series for the up-and-commer's.
For now, I would say do lots of research
You could of not get that ticket if you put less fuel in it
Scale ticket did you get a ticket for being over weight or are u talking about a cat a scale
CAT scale!
Question did you use your truck and trailer to get your cdl. Love your video.
Thank you! No bud, I didn't use my truck and trailer. I tell my CDL story in the video below if you care to check it out :)

Thanks
If a reefer bothers you youre in the wrong business
I rather listen to cows rustlin around then some loud ass thermo king on a 15 year old trailer
As a former businessowner and traveling about 50,000 miles a year on the road for 40+years the expenses were getting ridiculous , fuel, vehicle, insurance, maintenance, lodging and meals. Our income was straight commission. I guess my question is you share most of the same expenses except possibly lodging is you bottom line (net income getting less )? Also, is it a good idea to prod cast you pay for each load as this cloudless cause a ripple effect oof cutting the amount you are able to charge? Enjoy your videos and how hard you work. Keep safe !
expenses are high in this industry, its very true. The dollar doesnt go as far as it once did, especially in these times. Im always telling my mom, $100 is the new $20. I was AMAZED if I got a $10 or $20 dollar bill for my birthday as a kid, nowadays, kids get $100 bills like nothing all the time for birthdays it seems!
I post my revenue because I think it is informative to the next generation of owner ops to see what one truck, one trailer, and one driver can do in this area and for the amount of miles that I put in. I think its important to show that more miles doesnt always equal more money, but it will definately equal more expenses :)
It's my way of showing what can be done, and showing tips, tricks, thinking process, and decisions...I wont do it forever, and it certainly isnt to gloat or brag - sharing for educational purposes. Being self-employed and sharing a gross dollar amount will not effect what I'm able to charge. I decide my lanes and my rates, I try to keep my expenses down, and my revenue high, as everyone else. Sometimes you win, sometimes you draw, and every once in a while, you loose.
Recently discovered your channel. Thanks for sharing! I’m so appreciative of you. I’m in Cali wanting to start nonCDL hauling.
Welcome! Very excited to hear how things go for you
Hotshot Adventures thanks so much!
@@HotshotAdventures what is ur trailer length
I hear everyone sharing their prices and then complaining about the rates dropping...
That's odd, I started posting my run recaps including load details and gross revenue, because I didn't see if hear anyone else doing it. So people share information voluntarily, then complain when loads/rates/lanes/customers change something? Maybe they need a wake up call, or a 9-5 Jon where you make the same every hour of every day, because: Transportation is an ever growing, ever morphing, industry that goes up and down. Our goal as owner ops should be to find our niche, find the sweet spot, and move with waves.
Hi Nataly 👋🏻 how do u look for ur loads through out the day when you’re on the road? Do u have help or u do it ur self? Thanks in advance.
ruclips.net/video/E72Gley4CW8/видео.html
Augie, I do it all myself. Including dispatch, which consists usually of finding a few pieces to put together for a backhaul home. I'm not trying to drive and find loads for a ton of drivers, but it's manageable just having to fill 1 trailer going in a general direction. I have my searches saved, and the help of Android Auto 😁
Hotshot Adventures thanks for the reply. You make it all seem so easy!!! Even tho I know it’s not! You really inspire me to start hotshoting. Im scared to start cause I would be doing everything on my own but you continue to give me so much hope 🙏🏻 thank you!
It's not easy, it's a lot to juggle. There's always help out there, if you find you need it.
I account a lot of my early success to my vast knowledge and experience in the industry. Being brand new and taking a plung into this may be more difficult. Even I tried a dispatch service my first few weeks, because I wanted to focus on driving and getting that down. It only lasted a few weeks before I felt ready to be on my own, but point is I wasn't ashamed to say or think I could use a little help in the beginning.
Best of luck, let me know how things go!
Refers running use to lull me to sleep at night while parked ! Different strokes for different folks I guess.
You get used to it yup.
I'm used to it now
I thought you had 10000 lbs axles on your trailer for a 3 axle setup.
7k tri axle trailer
And a dual tandem air ride 12 k axles
Are you Class A CDL?
Yes
Do you shop for loads on your own as well as working with a broker?
I book all my own loads, mostly off load board
Hey what do you have to study for your cdl premium need help I dont went to Los more money :(
Hey beautiful got a question if ca. Weight station says no pick up do you go into them or what. Oh yeah trying to get my ford up to par then checking out a trailer like yours except I'm looking at one drive over fenders for duels. That's noisy put earplugs in girl. You look good I'll take ya as you are. Oh you have drive over fenders.
Hey Tyler, good for you!
Every commercial vehicle, including rental or rental vehicles (Penske, Ryder straight trucks etc) must all stop at every open scale.
It says no pick ups referring to general public trucks (the guy driving his ram 1500 to work is exempt) but the guy driving for hire or commercially, in his ram 1500 must stop
And I had earplugs in, still startled me awake..it's just not comfortable, I haven't done anything to the back seat, normally Lexi is with me and we get a hotel room, but I'm not doing that at this point in time. Next and soon, I need to build something for the back seat to sleep better, and good window shades!
@@HotshotAdventures the reason I asked I hauled a triple axle rv going towards backer field ca. To deliver it I had my signs on dot number showing. I went in scale house and a woman came out and pointed towards the hwy.and cursed at me she had a badge and a gun wasn't going to piss her off.
@@HotshotAdventures I did that to the last 2 trucks and there is a sofa bed called a jackknife sofa bed that fits comfortably ,or build a platform get a memory foam mattress leave room to store things under it home depot has this windshield sun blocker get 6 of them lay them one at a time on outside of windows trace and cut it out with scissors leave one alone for the front windshield.
@@HotshotAdventures I sent you a email hope you got it

Can you give a review on the Transfer Fuel Tank that you decided to go with and why?
