Black Is King was Beyoncé's love letter to Africa. I'm Nigerian and I can tell you that she's revered here. She features a lot of Nigerian and other African artists on this album. Beyoncé once visited Nigeria and performed our National anthem. To demonstrate how popular she is here, there are movies literally titled Beyoncé from our movie industry and they were very popular.
I saw many posts that said Beyonce shouldn’t have made black is king because she’s “barely black” and she’s “pandering” when jayz did a whole ancestral test and found out that he’s “Rwandan” the ignorance smh.
It’s my favorite Beyonce album. As an African American who is desperate to build that bond to Africa, Nigeria and Ghana specifically, this album brought tears to my eyes, and the visuals made me weep. Absolutely beautiful.
@@deevasquez1171 : Those are just ignorant and racist white people who are jealous of Beyonce's beauty and talent, so just because she has a itty bitty bit of white in her somewhere down the line of her ancestry, (and not even from her parents who are black btw.) but somewhere before them, they just have to talk shit about her race. They also hate that she identifies as black. I mean really people??!! Look at her. Get over it. Beyonce is black, and her soul is black. He children are black, her husband is black, her parents are black, her sister is black. Just stop with the ignorance. These are the same people who somehow haven't figured out how many different shades, hair types, body types and everything else in the black experience, and that we are not all the same. It is also a myth that anyone who has a certain hair texture, or skin type is automatically mixed race. Go to the many different countries in Africa and see the variety of black people. Somalia, Ethiopia, Eritrea to name a few. Each country with its own unique looks as far as its citizens. A good example is Tyla. She is South African, and absolutely beautiful. Some stunningly beautiful black people across the globe. Black people have been painted unfairly over history in a way that is just not accurate, but people fall for it. Anyway, just like every other race, we are all diffferent!
hey i’m from South Africa 🇿🇦 and Beyoncé here is as big as she is there, we also regard her as THEE QUEEN i don’t know about other African countries, but here we love her. Western music dominates here, more than our native music
To answer how popular Beyoncé is in Africa, as someone who was born and raised in Malawi, she is huge here! I've been listening to her music all my life really. I believe She is as big as MJ and Whitney in these parts of the world.
Love your Beyoncé reaction videos! I'm from Uganda in East Africa and I can tell you Beyoncé is quite popular here in Uganda as well-- most especially among millennials and Gen Z who are active on social media. I remember watching her renaissance tour film at the cinema when it came out. The whole audience was singing along! "The Gift" album which then became "Black is King" visual album film is my second favourite Beyoncé era. Renaissance is number one, but "Black is King"/ "The Gift" is definitely no. 2 for me.
First, she did The Lion King album called The Gift. Then she made a film called Black Is King in which she uses the same songs but her own visual take while interweaving a more personal story. It was also a love letter to Africa as she wanted to highlight some of the beauty and talent of the continent. She worked with artists from an and in different African countries such as Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa. She also dedicated it to her son.
She really went to Africa and different countries and learned their way of living, dancing, clothing etc she spent months over there learning how her ancestor did it…. The ppl who you will see and not. Know is truly African dancers, rappers, singers, she held nothing back and I love it 😍 she let them shine ✨
Hey! I’m from Ghana 🇬🇭 and I’ve loved Beyoncé and destiny’s child since I was about 7 or 8. I’m 32 now. She collaborated with a lot of artists and creatives from the continent when she made this, it was pretty wonderful!
Black is King is a visual album that reimagines the lessons of The Lion Kings. There are Africans throughout the movie and videos. Beyoncé doesn't care she will spend her own money to get what she wants. She's all about culture and this is amazing. You're going to enjoy this and I am going to enjoy watching you. Thanks guys, on to the next one
Yall are going to be FLOORED by the visuals in Black Is King. However, her albums are meant to be watched in one sitting. Just like her tracks, the videos have transitions as well. More so for this one and Lemonade and Beyonce (self-titled). It will be interesting to see how you guys splice it up. ❤
A great way to answer all your questions you asked is to watch her behind the scenes Black is King soundtrack which aired on ABC...which is owned by Disney, btw. You get to see her journey to different countries in Africa, and her collaborations with different artists in the Afro beats genre to create this soundtrack. She also recorded most of her music videos for the songs, on top of the movie she did. The woman is a workaholic when it comes to establishing her legacy.
This video My Power is part of a Beyonce film called "Black Is King" She made an entire album for the film called "The Lion King" thru Disney = BIG 💸 💸 😊 WELP, you guys should react to the film. Also, the video "Already" from that film/album wld be a great reaction. ALSO *2003 VMA Awards "Crazy In Love/ Baby Boy Melody" *Crazy In Love from the "I Am" Tour🔥 *Diva/Clique from the "On The Run" tour with her husband Jay-Z Z is da 💣 I enjoy your reactions! #thatisall 😉
Lol not Nathan trolling you Ryan "Oh wow don't say Darkyonce, that's not good to say" that had me in stitches, his "Ryan" voice especially. The Black is King visual album is actually amazing, very well done, powerful and great story telling. I t's actually the 1st time we see Beyonce on the now infamous horse that is tracked on her last 2 (and probably more to come in that trilogy or tetralogy), probably the start to the last couple of albums she's out out- would love to hear her speak on that creative project. Great video as always!
She featured African artists all over Black Is King. To answer Nathan, I think she’s like Michael Jackson was, just popular all over the world, including Africa. But I’m sure this album was very much appreciated by most Africans, and most likely boosted her popularity there. And yes it was a gamble. But both her and Disney have a mission of love and peace, and it was done in partial response to the climate of negativity that was present, similar to the Netflix Coachella concert, which highlighted historical black colleges in the US. Black Is King’s record sales was not a huge commercial success, but the visual album /film will live on as a part of Disney Plus for anyone to go experience at any time. And it definitely made a statement on who she is as an artist and as a person for all time.
This album is a whole story each song it’s similar to the lemonade album. I think you will totally love the full video album because it goes through the lion King story song by song.
Yall are doing great, I just subscribed because of this video n I’ve been watching for a min😭😭 this song ment so much to so many of us for different reasons so did this movie, yall tuning in to something great here can’t wait till yall watch it♥️♥️♥️🙏🏿🙏🏿
This was amazing! But I have another request. Can you guys bring in your wives when you do the Lemonades visual album reaction? It’s such a woman’s journey (to an extent) that I’d love to hear their input. I also low key want to see if they’ll react by picking a fight with you and blaming o you for Jay Z’s cheating. lol. Bring ‘em out guys!
I think the issue is that your patroens are all over the place which is fine if that's what you want to cater to. That's understandable. However, what happens is you end up with a million questions because your way of experiencing Beyonce is out of context and some viewers may get frustrated with that. Most Beyonce reactors are little more orderly with their reactions but like I said ultimately you can do what you want and its not a big deal...to me anyway. 😂
